They worked out fine if nothing happens, they are great at sitting in their offices. Recently though, we did have an expansion tank blow, and we lost a fire protection loop. Now that we need their services, they are a miserable nightmare on elmstreet type of nightmare. The workers they sent are the laziest 2 guys I've ever met. The company is a disaster. They don't show up prepared, do about 2 hours of work a day and charge you for ten hours. Hopefully Jan. 28, 2022 will be the last day this company ever steps foot on our property. Yet they suck, so it will most like take till March to fix at this rate.

2017-07-06 I would like to add that after we submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau…read morethe issue has been resolved. The Iowa Fire Equipment Specialists visited us second time and fixed the problem with fire alarm signals delivery to ADT processing center and our Ridgeview Home Owners Association received a descent compensation. I would like to thank everyone who assisted us to solve this problem! Respectfully yours, Eugene Deyev We would like to file this review about service of the Iowa Fire Equipment Company (IFEC). We need your assistance to convince them improve their services quality and decrease the invoice total price they charge our Home Owners Association. We are a small Home Owners Association of nine townhouses only. Since 2001 we have installed centralized fire alarm system Silent Knight 5204. The fire alarm watches the fire event and it transfers signals to ADT Security Company use Centurylink Company's dedicated communication line. The whole system acts like a unified complex and needs yearly check-up of each censor, control panel, communicating channel, and the ADT processing center receives the signals from us. Each year we order check-up service at the Iowa Fire Equipment Company (IFEC) and we were pleased with their work quality and decent prices until today. On May 13, 2017 we ordered the annual check-up with the Iowa Fire Equipment Company and appointed to start their work at 9:00am. Their technicians begun to work about 10 minutes later and they were completely unprepared to do their job. The IFEC technicians did not coordinated the check up with ADT Security, and we spent about one hour to set our Fire Alarm System to test mode (all spare time the techs just lounge around, smoked and talked to neighbors). The IFEC technicians did not know which unit has installed the control panel and they wasted additional time searching where the control panel is. They entered inside our townhouses wearing their steel toed boats and leaving dirt and debris on the floor being unprofessional and careless inside people's dwellings. The IFEC techs did not validated the Fire Alarm System log and did not verified how the whole system works as a complex. After their visit we got a phone call from ADT Security Company that our Fire Alarm System misses routine automated test set by timer. That means the system is not reliable and in case of fire the alarm signal may not be delivered to ADT processing center. The problem remains after the check-up completed, but we were assured by the IFEC technicians that our Fire Alarm System works well in our buildings. For the subpar service the Iowa Fire Equipment Company sent us an invoice of total $1026.66. When we emailed them a complaint with all issues described above, they replied that we are billed correctly for their time and they blame us that all issues we are complaining about regarding their service. Because, as they replied to us: "technicians work at thousands of different locations over the course of a service year and they don't have any issues at other locations". Also they explained that we were billed from when their technician leaves the shop to the time he returns. The IFEC don't have any issues with their technicians taking a smoke break, organizing tools, or anything else until we are ready to start the testing. According the explanation the setting system to test mode is an owner's responsibility (for the service that billed over $1000). The techs did not validate the fire alarm system log and they don't trouble shoot the fire alarm system dialer, because upon their arrival, and exit the system was tested as it should. The IFEC technicians won't fix a problem that doesn't present itself while they are on site (as we understood, they were not trained to begin their work from reading the system logs first). As you can see, the quality of the Iowa Fire Equipment Company's service degraded significantly, but the demanded payment fee rocketed up high. Therefore, we ask your kind assistance to persuade the IFEC company cancel their bill and decrease the total price accordingly. Their technicians spent less than 10 minutes on each unit in our HOA (90 minutes total). The IFEC tech work hour is $178.50 and the total price cannot be over $267.75 (although we believe consumers should not pay at all for such service and the fake work). It would be good they revisit their billing and employees' professional and ethic training policies as well. Respectfully yours, Eugene Deyev Ridgeview Home Owners Associate. The following supplement documents available for your review: 1. The bill for the Iowa Fire Equipment Company (IFEC) service to Ridgeview Home Owners Association. (IFEinvoice.pdf). 2. Copy of the Ridgeview HOA email complaint for the EFIC service and request to decrease price. (RidgeView HOA complaint.docx). 3. Copy of Fire Alarm System log between April - June 2017 indicated that test signal delivery error occurs.
