I just want to thank Jeff Quinney of First Assurance for an amazing class. I took his Concealed Carry class a few months ago and this past weekend, took the Defensive Pistol Fundamentals class. It was a great followup class as I was able to put to practice the fundamentals that I learned during that course. In addition to that, I learned how to safely and quickly draw from a holster, learned about reloads, pistol malfunctions, how to increase speed/accuracy, and more. My confidence is through the roof and I feel so much better prepared than I did before training with Jeff. I highly recommend this course to anyone who has already completed their Concealed Carry class, wants to be a better defensive shooter, or if you just want to be more prepared for what could happen while you're carrying. If you think you don't need this class because you've been around guns your whole life, I will definitely argue that you're doing yourself a disservice by not taking this class. I worried at first hearing that some of the students had been shooting for years and I had only ever shot a gun on 2 occasions before taking this course, but when I saw how much those students were learning and improving on skills that they didn't even know they needed improvement on, I felt confident that I would also be able to fine tune my own skills and build upon what I already knew. My primary focus was on sight acquisition, holster work, trigger control, stance, and reloads and I can honestly say by the end of the day those skills were improved as I was holding a 3" group while working on everything we did :) I can't wait to do this again. One on one lessons with Jeff definitely improved my shooting abilities. After reviewing and working on the fundamentals such as grip and trigger control, I was able to vastly improve my shooting. One of the biggest benefit was the way Jeff was able to break down and explain what I was doing wrong when I couldn't explain it myself. The use of a shot timer was another useful tool which proved helpful. Jeff was very accommodating as far as scheduling and allowed me to break up my payments to make it more manageable for my budget. It was definitely money well spent and I'm looking forward to some of the workshops he has coming up. read more

He takes you step by step with not just the how but the why and sprinkles in some history so that you better understand the methods that will keep you safe and make you proficient in handling a firearm! Jeff is a slick two faced thief. I ordered 2 custom holsters from him back in 2014 and presented numerous receipts and still have not received money back or the holsters. I've tried to remain civil. Eventually I just stopped asking him for my money back about a year ago. I'm absolutely fed up. Watch out for this guy. He's a rip off artist extraordinaire. read more

Jeff is one of the most knowledgeable instructors Ive come across, I took my nephew to one of his classes to learn fundamentals and safety measures along with proper safe operation of a firearm. Jeff was patient, provided proactive hands on instruction. We didnt have an opportunity to go to the range with him that day as it was late.Although when I did take my nephew he remembered everything he was taught, THE RIGHT WAY, and we had a great time. Beware of this service, I should have checked his reviews before I paid. I paid right away with a credit card $195 for his concealed permit services, Jeff cancelled the second appointment on me with only 2 hours notice. I own a big business and had to reschedule my entire schedule for him, this resulted in me missing the rescheduled appointment. As a result, Jeff tried to charge me AGAIN for HIS rescheduled appointment I missed due to him cancelling on me last minute. I tried to reason with him, but he was pig headed and didn't care if I filed a CC dispute or left a bad review. Do yourself a favor and pay for a class through a shooting range or some legit company, this guy will cancel on you last minute, mess up your schedule then try to charge you again. Furthermore, you have to have him come to your house to do the course, you can get a CC permit for $100 with class and everything included through most shooting ranges. Jess was petty and not accommodating and doesn't seem to appreciate new business he gets nor is willing to accept responsibility for cancelling appointments he makes. Jeff has a natural talent for teaching and his passion for self defense shines through in his instruction. Despite being prior Marine Infantry Jeff was able to increase my skill set in the first class I had attended. I have now attended several and it only gets better each class. Jeff Quinney is a NRA Certified Instructor. I started out knowing nothing about firearms and in just a few training sessions I learned all about gun safety, terminology proper handling and shooting. I learned of a shooting competition being organized by Jeff Quinney/First Assurance Defense Training and was interested in attending, until I asked him about the location of the event. The event is being held at an uninsured, unlicensed back-yard range. On further investigation into the company I learned that Mr. Quinney has no real qualifications to train for anything beyond music lessons and NRA Basic Pistol instruction. I believe I'll hold out for a REAL training company (preferably one which employs instructors with military training or equivalent.) read more

Bought the groupon and called over 50 times to try to schedule. I got Jeff on the phone maybe twice and both times he "wasn't in the office and had to call me back" which of course he didn't. I left over 10 messages begging him to call me back because my groupon was now going to expire annnnnddddddd nothing. Cool. So I got a refund for my groupon through groupon because of such a poorly run operation where they can't even answer the phone or have the courtesy to call the customer back. In response to your reply. You must have me confused with someone else. You did not offer me either of those things. Maybe you thought about it or were willing to offer those things if I made a stink but you certainly did not offer them on our 15 second phone call. You said "hey sorry we were closed we missed your calls over the weekend" and I said yeah but it's okay I already got a refund from groupon. Not that I would seek one, I already got one. And it wasn't 50 times in 3 days. The 50 calls and 10 messages were over the course of 2 or 3 months since I had bought the groupon. I appreciate you trying to clarify but it doesn't change that I had a poor experience TRYING to do business with you. And I'm not the first person who has had trouble reaching you so I'm obviously not making this upon. Perhaps you should invest some time in taking care of your customers while they're still trying to be your customers and not after the fact when you've already upset them and lost the possibility to do business with them. read more

Bought a Groupon for this training and was it a huge mistake. First off, don't believe a word that Jeff Quinney says. Like a used car salesman, he'll say anything to you to get you to pay for his classes. He'll trash talk the other companies around West Palm Beach - Gator Guns, Shoot Straight, etc. Then he'll upcharge you for an ammunition package and pistol package. Later when you go to the shooting range at Gator Guns, they'll charge you again and Jeff will argue with you that you're responsible for paying for it again! As another reviewer mentioned previously, Jeff is cocky and loves to hear himself talk especially with women. He had a cocky attitude and pretended like he knew everything. When asked further about any of his claims, he would just say, you can look it up. In fact when I looked it up, a lot of what he was saying was wrong. Not to mention, he takes 5 HOURS just to go over basic rules and then talks about what guns to buy, what ammunition to buy, what holsters to buy, from where, etc for 4 hours. During the 5 hours, you touch a real gun for 15 minutes. There's no handling a gun so that you become comfortable with it. When you meet at the shooting range a few weeks later, it's the same thing. He goes over the same things with you AGAIN and then you get to shoot for 15 minutes. Not to mention it's uncomfortable when he puts his hands on me without asking permission because I'm not standing correctly or holding the gun like he wants. He made it soo uncomfortable for us to shoot. While you're supposed to get an hour, he tries to sell you another class for $75/hour. What's even funnier is that while we were at Gator Guns, Jeff tried to tell us these laws about why we needed to do this and that and why we should pay for another few hours with him. The Gator Guns employee corrected him and told him no, he was wrong. Jeff just looked at the guy and mumbled off some random law 3.83.4.5.2.4.53.35.3. Florida statute. Hilarious, yet a waste of money and time. Avoid at all costs! read more

First Assurance was highly recommended to me from one of my clients. It had been many years since I had shot a gun and I had never had any formal training. I initially registered for a package of 3 (two hour) private lessons. I was so impressed with how things were going that I upgraded my training to a 5 lesson package. Jeff has been an excellent instructor. First and foremost his focus is on safety. His second focus is on the basic fundamentals - including establishing a proper grip, understanding presentation, how to find a natural point of aim, trigger control and how to manage recoil. By establishing good fundamentals he drives home the point of establishing accuracy by making things repeatable. He also is very big on measuring improvement objectively through tools like a shot timer. I recommend First Assurance to anyone interested in learning how to shoot or for experienced shooters that may need to trouble shoot a problem or just want to improve their skills. read more
