We enrolled our 9 year old son in 3rd grade in 2017 and the school/staff/philosophy/quality has far surpassed our expectations. The founder and principal, Wendy Soderman, is a visionary and is extremely bright. She has successfully created a culture where quality education, teaching of virtues, and integration of EQ, are woven into the daily experience for the students. One of the first things that caught my attention is that the cafeteria has been designed to look like a quaint, outdoor communal dining area. To me, this sent an immediate message that Ideal is attempting to create an atmosphere of community and innovation, rather than at atmosphere of institutionalization and conformity. This is a microcosm of the bigger picture at Ideal. They provide structure and order, but they also provide fun, laughter, community involvement, emphasis on self-awareness, enriching experiences, and fresh ideas. The teachers and staff are AMAZING!!! Busy mornings have people driving up to the curb and bringing their kids inside. Sign into the main desk before taking a child to the teachers. Many times the children are so happy to see friends and teachers they don't say goodbye before running forward for hugs and high fives. Learning centers within classrooms and monthly schedule of activities sent home help further facilitate their growing skills at home. He's so easy gets into a schedule that he would fuss on days that he wouldn't attend the center. Even if this baby was hitting or throwing a temper tantrum that's not how you handle children. His vocabulary and behavior improved significantly moving to a smaller class size. I would definitely recommend Kingswood if your child handles large class sizes well or if your child has always been used to that type of environment.
