At the entrance way, you are normally welcomed by ushers and or Joan who will wish you a good morning. Sunday Mass at 11:30 am is normally lead by Monsignor Mark Cordon a very well spoken, down to earth pastor. His interpretation of the Biblical stories and in comparison to today's life is informative. It's a wonderful parish.

A lot of masses on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night at 7 is usually pretty quiet and you can really sit there and contemplate your relationship with god. All in all an excellent worship experience. The Xmas gifts of hope is a great program and usually produces an outstanding response from the parishioners. When the priests thank us they always remark on our outstanding generosity. I have been to other parishes where they are constantly hitting you up money holy angels is not like that. First off the Parish staff are amazing with what they do. Sister Ellen is very good with the children and gets them involved as much as possible, Ms. Dixon does an awesome job with handling the music ministry, even down to the lectors, ushers, etc, everybody else who contribute to a meaningful mass or any kind of celebration for that matter does a great job here. I've had the pleasure of listening to the words of Fr. Peter (May he rest in peace), Fr. Bob (He always had such good sense of humor!), Deacon Joe, Deacon Stephen and Fr. Tom who is simply amazing with sharing his faith and teachings. What I also appreciate about this parish is how giving they are to the people around them be it from the Parish itself or outside. The Parishioners are also involved and are very kind. If donations or any kind of help are needed, people from this parish jump in to help without second thoughts. You see smiling and familiar faces when you attend mass and it gives you a sense of belongingness not only in "body" but also in faith. Love that this Church embodies what it is supposed to, Love, Compassion, Honesty, Acceptance and so much more.

She gave money weekly and went to Sunday services religiously. She stopped going 8 years ago because she went into a nursing home. Not once did they reach out to her family to check on her. Not ONCE. Shame on them. They continued to ask for money via mail. Now would you think that if someone gave money weekly and now doesn't- would that send up a red flag that something was wrong.??? Not with these folks. Nothing, zero, nada. Money money money. Well, she passed away Easter morning. Shame- shame on you... makes me sick to my stomach. I am also deeply sorry for your experience with OLC, but because I know the Church, and its pastor, I find it important to share a thought or two. The money envelopes come directly from the administrative office and its computerized system - as with most churches these days. A church finds it necessary to be supported financially in order that it may support and be there for people. Had the financial office been aware, any and all requests in any form would have ceased. Had the pastor been aware of your mother's circumstance, he would absolutely have been there for her and for you and your family. This I know, for I am well aware of his profound gratitude for the long-standing parishioners who have kept OLC alive - as have I heard him speak from his heart at the too-many of their funerals as time goes by. He is, like all of us, not a perfect man, but he is both a true man of God and a good man; a good priest. I do not know the circumstance of your Mom, but I believe completely that if you reach out to the parish office and share even any of your experience, you will be reached out to by the pastor. Please don't let this go or continue to hurt over it - which you absolutely and understandably do. Please call - prove me right, since I don't believe I can be proven wrong here. It's in the well-prepared homilies which always help us reflect on the readings, but frequently address sensitive and even "hot" issues of the day at the intersection of faith and secular responsibility. This is not easily done and not often attempted in many, even most, Catholic parishes. The lay readers are superbly able and prepared, and Baptisms are sometimes embedded in the Sunday liturgy. That is like a community birthday party. Franciscans are known for creating a welcoming and joyful worship environment, and their efforts pay off here at St. Mary's. The weekly bulletin is an example. It's all good news about the Good News: Pictures of weddings and baptisms, it's Spanish/English for the strong and active Latino population, activities are celebrated in print and in photos - It's a happy place. I know of somebody who'd call this parish a field hospital for the faith-wounded.
