As an interest grew in family genealogy, I discovered my great-great-grandparents and a few cousins are buried within the borders of this hallowed ground. As my curiosity was piqued, I also realized a few friends are also interred here. The grounds are huge and well maintained. There is a covered space for services, if that is how one wishes to conduct the funeral. Then there are several multi-person mausoleums. With the hymns and responsive readings, along with the sermon, feelings of beauty and joy surrounded me. I believe a lot is lost with most contemporary services today. That is why I really enjoyed what I found at First United Methodist. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The membership also hosts many eating gatherings as well. Somewhere along the way, the…read moremission of First Baptist Church merged with Faith Baptist and continued to meet at this location. Wanting to see if the pastor was in the office, I stopped by hoping for a time of fellowship. Unfortunately, he wasn't, but that is more than okay since I really didn't need or want anything. I will commend the church's ministry outreach on Monday evenings as they offer Celebrate Recovery. It is led by the pastor, and he performs a great job keeping the discussion Biblically-based and on-track.

They were having a rummage sale to support one of their ministries. Mom and I spent about half-an-hour perusing the merchandise offered. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything, but Mom did. After paying for our stuff, we quickly headed on our way. If you live in the area, please check out River of Life church as an option for a church home. You won't be disappointed!
