Once you get plugged in and start to volunteer you get to know people (and a lot of them). Severns Valley has been our church home for several years and we will not be leaving. And to anyone interested in coming: This is not a megachurch. The building needs to be as large as it is because how else is it supposed to comfortably fit all of its members (I mean, isn't it a good thing so many people come to worship)? There is no ATM in the lobby, I don't know who even said that or why There is no pool on the roof, you can tell from drone views All the staff are very friendly, humble, and happy to help. So come on in. It's amazing here.

She never went back and ended up dying of an overdose later on in life. I think of Severns Valley when she relapsed, of course. She really was trying their program and liked it. They cannot get past their noses there to save or help souls. I should know...I grew up in that church but refused to go back when I turned 16 and found a church with the Holy Spirit to attend instead. I still attend that non-denominational church to this day. That was in 1989 that I left SVBC. Thank God I left so I could finally grow in the Lord!

My church family is the best. The love of Christ is everywhere in this church. The church is not…read morejust a building it's a community, a fellowship of believers. Oh, and I must mention the youth group. My kids love it. They are very active and participate in mission work as do many groups inside the church. Christ's love is here!

It's impressive to see a church with roots going back to the late 1700s, and it's considered the oldest Baptist church in Kentucky. The historical markers do a good job of explaining the church's early beginnings and its importance in the settlement of the region. Even just passing by, you can get a sense of how long this congregation has been part of the community's history. The grounds are well-kept and the modern campus contrasts interestingly with the deep historical roots of the church. It makes for a quick but meaningful stop if you're interested in local history.

The marker reads, "The oldest continuing Baptist congregation west of Allegheny Mts., organized June 17, 1781, near Hynes Station. Preceded by log structures, this edifice completed, 1834, by John Y. Hill. Sold to First Baptist Church, 1897, and services held until 1974, except when USA soldiers used building as hospital, 1865. Listed on National Register of Historic Places, 1974." It is marker number 1621 and it was erected in 1977 by the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
