When I first came to First City Church, it was out of curiosity and a favor to a dear friend. I had recently left a church at the time, and was not really looking for another place to go. But as soon as I walked in the doors, I was greeted with smiles, more hand shakes than I could count, and a warm, comforting feeling. I was welcomed regardless of my status, and I felt like I was part of a big family. I kept coming back, and over time made First City part of my life. For me, it is a place of spiritual accountability, support, and well being.
The teachings are straight from the word, and there is no compromise. I love it.
It means a lot to a young man growing up to see men of age and wisdom live by example, and receive instruction from those with experience. To see Men step up, and be men of God. Women stand strong, and be women of God. Couples making it together for 50 plus years, and those who have tried and failed, sharing the wisdom they gained from their struggles. Friendships that mean something, and not just words. Compassion, love, grace, and respect. These are a few of my favorite things about "the family". My early memories of you all will always be a foundation in my mind, and I look foward to the new struture God is building for the future. read more
