Framing has become such a niche specialty that it's hard to find a great little locally owned shop these days, so I'm grateful that this place exists. When I walked in with my print the owner was there and he took the time to spread it out, talk to me about the kind of paper it was on, the best way to choose a frame, and let me explore some different options before we landed on what materials to use. He did let me know about the wait as he is often backlogged for a few weeks/months, and once you drop your art with him you don't pay for it until you come back to collect the finished product. To be honest I considered giving four stars just because it was a few weeks longer than the quote and I had to call a few times to get an updated time frame, I wish they were a bit more proactive on that front as it started to worry me with the cost of the art etc. That being said, once I went in to pick it up it was literally perfect and I could tell that they take pride in what they do. On top of that the owner is genuinely kind and passionate about his work, which to me pushed this place back up into 5 star territory. Overall, it'll take some time, and this store is somewhat old school, but framing is an old school business and it's wonderful to be able to support local and get a top notch product at the same time. First, a bit of a backstory: A little over 8 years ago, I brought a poster of Ophelia by John Everett Millais to Framewoods of Topeka. I had an absolutely delightful experience, so when I got a new poster.. this one from a tv show called Doctor Who, I knew I could bring in my new poster and it would get the best care, attention, and dare I say it, love. :) I knew they wouldn't laugh at me for wanting to do something unusual like putting a poster into a frame. I was right. I came in and spoke with Apollonia Jamison, showed her the poster and she instantly started being creative. (I told her a bit of my background with the Ophelia poster.) Gary Blitsch heard my story and came over to check things out. He asked a bit about Ophelia so I had my son take a picture and message it to me. Mr. Blitsch said he remembered it, because it had an unusual cut, just like the original Ophelia painting currently part of the Tate Gallery. Meanwhile, Mrs. Jamison continued to bring out sample frames and matboard and matching them. Mr. Blitsch was familiar with Doctor Who and brought out a frame that I fell in love with. Working with the frame, Mrs. Jamison started filing through colors and laying them on the poster to find the perfect match. And she did! It was an unusual color, but it made the picture snap!! Absolutely gorgeous! I highly recommend Framewoods of Topeka and Mr. Blitsch and Mrs. Jamison! They really will make your experience fun and the final results will be amazing!

The shop kept my family document for seven months. The first time I went to pick it up it was clear…read morethat they had done the framing incorrectly. The owner didn't acknowledge it at first, but her worker told me that he had done it as it should have been but his boss told him to change it. Even though it was done wrong I picked up the frame as I was going to be out of town for a while. I then brought back the frame when I returned to town. When I picked it up again it was framed correctly. However, it had obvious defects--misaligned joints, visible marks, and poor workmanship. I have sent them an email requesting a refund and they are ghosting me. The final product is unusable. I will not be able to proudly display the family historical document in my house. I do not recommend this business for custom framing. I am updating my review based on the owner's response. I did not ever require a 'rush' job. When I returned the frame it was in the middle of October. You clearly put all your other customers in front of me, even though I had paid you in full back in April of 2025. So you had the piece almost 3 months before you worked on it. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and if you have never had the opportunity to spend the better part of a day at the court house in Olathe, you will get to do that. I will be filing an action against you in Small Claims Court. You will lose.

When I went to store to check on status, I was treated to rudeness and attitude. I suggested we cancel order and Anita pointed at sign high on wall and screamed "there are no cancellations or refunds". She then dismissively they were busy but would have my order done same day.
