See my tip and do some homework before seeing these peeps. Almost a high pressure salesman type feel to it when it came to life insurance.

It's been a little over a year since we began working with Troy and I wish we would have found him…read moresooner. We interviewed four CFPs and for us the fourth time was the charm. The first thing that stood out was his commitment to being a genuine fiduciary. I can honestly say Troy is the fiduciary of fiduciaries, and he was the only one that gave us his ADV forms. We came loaded with questions and he took the time to answer all of them. He was the only CFP when discussing fees that didn't say don't worry about my fees, I'll just make you more money to cover them. When it comes to a CFP, trust is a huge factor. Troy is honest and trustworthy and we sensed that right off the bat. He is also * Experienced and competent * Professional * Ethical * Keeps lines of communication open and is available when we need him * Knowledgeable on finance, tax, estate, insurance matters * Has a clear organized strategy (not reactive) * Answers our myriad of questions, even the same ones over and over * Helps make complex financial concepts easy to understand * Timely * Puts his clients first * Goes above and beyond and exceeds expectations * And much more! The clincher for us, in addition to the above, was/is 1) he is a small, personalized office where we don't feel like a number, and 2) he actually cares about his clients. We get the impression this is more than just a job for Troy (and let me tell you, he loves what he does!); it's like a service to others as well (combo of head and heart). We believe Troy is a rarity in his field. We also believe he deserves this review, but we selfishly hope he won't get too big because we want to keep him for ourselves. Thank you, Troy, for all you do!

Mr. Edward (Ed) Gonzales is certainly a friendly and engaging man, but I would not recommend his…read moreservices to anyone. My brother, Gary Buffo, died in early 2016. I was the executor of Gary's estate and Ed was Gary's financial advisor. Gary liked Ed very much. However, my experience with Ed and Edward Jones was beyond disappointing. The bottom line is that Ed and Edward Jones were readily available to extract fees from my brother when he was alive, but miserably failed him after his death. My specific beefs: 1. Ed was not prepared for our meetings and sold my brother annuities with high fees. 2. Although tax consequences are a critical component when making financial decisions, I was constantly told that Edward Jones does not provide tax advice. 3. Their handling of my brother's retirement accounts as abysmal. You see, Gary had died with his wife as his only beneficiary and she had passed before him. Because Gary did not have any beneficiaries on his retirement accounts, Ed said that my only option was to "cash-in" the retirement accounts to the estate, which would result in everything in those accounts being taxable as income. Ed was quick to direct me to cash-in the retirement accounts without letting me know the tax liability implications or providing any options. Doing my own research, I found that the IRS would instead allow distribution of the retirement accounts to beneficiary IRAs of the heirs named in Gary's will, which would have SIGNIFICANT tax benefits. Ed never brought this approach up as an option and when brought to his attention, both Ed and Edward Jones refused to distribute the retirement funds to the heirs' beneficiary accounts. Ultimately, after spending many, many hours to "convince" Edward Jones that it would be in the best interests of their brand to provide their deceased client with proper support, they agreed to transfer the retirement funds to the heirs' beneficiary accounts. LOTS of money was preserved for my dear brother's estate! Ed Gonzales and Edward Jones were not there when my brother needed them most. Besides their demonstrated failure to step up for deceased clients, you really have better options than Edward Gonzales and Edward Jones to get better products and services at better prices. Shop around and search the Web for "Edward Jones Reviews." You'll see many negative reviews. Save for your family and retirement efficiently instead of seeing way too much of your income going to fees for what I believe are inferior offerings relative to other options.
