And that the sanctuary was made of stained glass. I stopped by late on a Sunday morning. The service was over but the building was still open. So I was able to walk in. When outside, you don't notice the stained glass at all. But inside, the light is shining through and it is absolutely stunning and gorgeous. As an added bonus, they ring the chimes on Sunday mornings. So I was treated to a chimes concert during my quick visit.

I'm not a churchgoer, but I visted Stamford's First United Methodist Church for Easter service…read moreyesterday. The church itself is pretty new and spacious - parking available in a lot and on the street, light-filled lobby, coat rack room, mingle room, and then the main sanctuary where services are held. The sanctuary boasts beautiful stained glass windows in the back and along the sides, each with a special story. And the roof is smooth and wooden, and for some reason reminded me of the Ark - I wonder if that was on purpose! Anyway, the congregation was the most diverse one I've seen in years. Black, White, Asian, Indian, African, and various mixes - so many different families, all together. I found it refreshing, and when I mentioned it to my friend, he said, "yeah, that's why we started coming here!" The service itself was exactly 90 minutes, which is apparently really "good" (read: short) for Easter. Usually it's about 60 minutes. They also have a "Celebration Sanctuary," which is the 'contemporary' worship service, aimed primarily at people aged 18-35, but anyone who just wants a more modern worship environment and experience is welcome. Which is cool... even organized religion needs to change to attract Millennials. LOL.
