We have wanted to visit the "Kent State University Museum" for a long time and never seemed to get…read morearound to it. Well today we made a point to get it done. Now all I can think is, "What took us so long"! Kent, Ohio is a cute town, surrounding a beautiful University campus. It is a pleasure to drive through and very easy to navigate. We arrived at the museum this morning which is FREE on Sunday. A nice contemporary building on the campus. Easy to park, easy to enter, and easy to get around. Upon entering you are greeted by a friendly face at the reception desk that is more than happy to answer any questions and provide directions. It is layed out on the main and 2nd floors on both sides of the central hall. The exhibits are absolutely beautiful. They included clothing through the century, jewelry, glass & ceramics, and designs from the university fashion design department. As well as a fabulous exhibit by artist LeRoy Neiman. Everything is exceptionally beautiful. After you spend plenty of time exploring the museum you'll have no problem finding a nice place to relax, eat and have drinks in town. We had a marvelous time today and I'm confident you will too. Do yourself a favor and visit the "Kent State University Museum"... It's amazing.

The emphasis is on fashion, and I especially liked the history timeline. The purse collection in the hallway is colorful and fun. The quilts were stunning and displayed in a bright and spacious gallery with a mirrored view. There's an admission fee most days but Sunday was free. The museum isn't big, but it has a very professional feel and includes a gift shop sells works made by students, and the building is very attractive and located right on campus. Definitely worth a visit.

I was pleasantly surprised it was so well organized and presented. No cover charge but they take donations. It is located inside a townhouse building and has two floors to explore. I can only imagine how much it brightens a child's day to look out their hospital room window to see the inside of the ball park. The pictures here show The Italian Sausage Dugout from the Bier Garten. For $22 you get the Italian Sausage Dugout (sausage, peppers, onions, marinara, and mozzarella cheese) and a souvenior cup with pop. I was excited and looking forward to this all day, but it was a let down. It wasn't hot in the inside and the French bread tasted like it came out of the freezer. A couple of my other family members got the TeriAkron bowl from the Pineapple Under the C and won't be getting it again. It wasn't as flavorful as one would expect. Overall, a great experience watching the Rubberducks win!

We saw the Rubber Ducks were in town (or, is it Rubberducks, all one word?), so we figured we'd take in a game. We've been to several minor league ballparks in the past, but Canal Park might literally be the best one so far! It's right in the heart of downtown Akron, which doesn't initially "feel" like where baseball should be played. (Historically speaking, though, it's spot-on!) But, this place fits in perfectly with its surroundings. Because it's a smaller stadium, you're almost on the field, it feels! There doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the joint, and it is very easy to walk around and soak in the atmosphere. My one minor complaint was how small the team store is, but that's honestly kind of true at most minor league places. They had to limit the number of patrons, though, but the line moved quickly. No more than 5 minutes tops. The concessions were out of the ordinary and out of this world in some cases! We had read up on them before going. Be sure to look up "canal park extreme food" before going. Trust me, you'll thank me. At least you'll know what you're in for! We got "The Screamer," which is a 21-scoop 5-pound sundae served in a full-sized batting helmet. Yes, you read that correctly. No, I am not making that up. I added the picture to verify that I did not go insane. It was WAY TOO MUCH for the three of us to even put a dent in! We might have gotten through 40% of it... maybe... but I don't think so. It's a bit of a shame, though, because we wound up wasting a lot of it. If you're going to order this, be sure to bring at least 6 people who don't mind eating out of the same giant bowl. Maybe 4 really hungry people? Good luck. They have other extreme foods there, but we weren't able to get to any others. Shot our bolt on the sundae! But, anyway... Concession prices are very affordable, at least compared to major league prices. You can definitely find some bargains here as well. So, you have an intimate setting, reasonable prices, great seats, extreme foods, and a great ticket prices. I don't know what more you could ask for. This was an absolutely wonderful experience, one that we would readily do again without question!

If you trace back through the team's history, they are actually one of the original eight members of the NBA D-League which began play in 2001. At that time, the Charge were known as the Huntsville Flight. To date, the Charge have been based in four different cities: 1. Huntsville, Alabama as the Huntsville Flight (2001-2005) 2. Albuquerque, New Mexico as the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (2005-2010) 3. Rio Rancho, New Mexico as the New Mexico Thunderbirds (2010-2011) 4. Canton, Ohio as the Canton Charge (2011-present) As the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, the team won the 2006 D-League championship (the D-League didn't become the G League until 2017) under head coach Michael Cooper. Cooper, who coached the T-birds from 2005 to 2007, is probably the team's most famous coach. He was a five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s. In Canton, the team has done relatively well, qualifying for the playoffs more years than not. The Charge are owned by and a direct affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dan Gilbert, who is chairman of both Quicken Loans and the Cavs, is also chairman of the Charge. The Charge are one of 18 teams currently playing in the 2021 NBA G League Bubble at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando. If you live in Ohio or have access to regional sports networks through your TV account, you can watch several Charge games this month and next on Fox Sports Ohio: https://canton.gleague.nba.com/news/charge-2021-complete-broadcast-schedule/. It's great exposure for this minor league team. If you live in northeast Ohio, you can also listen to games on 99.7 The Drum (WKTX, Cortland serving Youngstown). Opened in 1951, the Charge play in the Canton Memorial Civic Center, next to the Canton Museum of Art. The Civic Center has a maximum capacity of 5,200, but in the Charge's media guide for 2021, it lists the arena's capacity at just 3,902, making it one of the smaller venues in the league. If you're an NBA fan, some names you might recognize who have played for the Charge include Quinn Cook, Tim Hardaway Jr, Joe Harris, Kendrick Perkins, and Quinton Ross. Eight-year NBA veteran Darvin Ham also coached the team for one season (their lone season as the New Mexico Thunderbirds in 2010-11).
