They insisted our mother would be best served in this facility. LESS than 12 hours later we were told by the nurses and social worker that our mother didn't belong here and we needed to find someone else immediately. This was less than 24 hours after receiving a terminal diagnosis. The care was horrible. They made her defecate in her Depends because "it was too difficult" to move her. They confined her to her bed and refused to let her even sit in a chair for the same reason. My mother weighs 150 pounds. We were told my mother bit someone and was constantly agitated. This is after 24 hours of asking them to provide the proper medications for her because "they couldn't get hold of them". The clinical director later said she absolutely did not bite anyone. They ruined her chances of getting into a hospice nursing home because of the biting report and keeping her on Haldol to keep her sleepy and compliant. They they told us the doctor was taking her off of inpatient hospice and we would need her to begin paying $270 a day to keep her there. The nurses were rude and brusque. They literally laughed in my mother's face when she asked for something that didn't make sense because of her dementia. This was one of the worst experiences of our lives. My three sisters and I couldn't wait to get my mother out of this facility. It made us sick to watch how she was cared for. The building may look nice but it's rotten to its core.

When he was first admitted, the doctor that sent him had recommended hospice care immediately - but because of the care that was given to him at the Foundation Park facility - his health actually initially improved - and then remained steady for a long time before he ultimately declined. Hospice was not needed again until his medical issues finally took his life. Having said that - a facility like this can be difficult to visit. There is a lot of people staying there that suffer from various levels of mental decline, a lot of them wearing diapers - which can lead to an unpleasant smell throughout the facility. It can also be awkward as you go to visit your relative/loved one because some of the patients wander around the halls kind of aimlessly, and it is apparent they are not mentally correct....my father lost some of his personal items, and it is not clear if he lost them himself, or if they were picked up by other patients that wandered around the facility. I see other reviews where people are complaining because their loved one "had to wear a diaper", or "severely declined"....I understand that it is difficult to see a family member or loved one in this state - but to blame the facility for this seems a stretch. Unfortunately, people with these types of medical issues are going to have trouble using the restrooms, and they are going to decline - it's unpleasant to watch, but it is inevitable. Seems pretty easy to blame others for something that is occurring naturally. My experience with the staff, from the front office, to the nurses, to the administrators, and social service personnel - ALL OF THEM were caring, good people that were compassionate and helpful whenever we visited, or spoke with them on the phone. A place like this is never going to be fun to take a family member to - and it can be unpleasant to visit - but ultimately, the folks at Foundation Park do a good job and seem to care deeply about the people they are caring for, and their families.

There are some who care, but the majority know it is hard to get help and it shows in their attitude. Most of the nurses feel it is beneath them to help a resident get to the bathroom, and since there are not enough aides, you could wait 40 minutes for help. If you have someone there, it is important to be there with them for the majority of the day, or they will not be helped. The staff is overworked and resentful. My husband was there for 12 weeks and by the end he was begging me to get him out of there.

They were attentive to her needs and mindful of her limited vision. They prepared foods that met her dietary needs and cared for her the way I would have while she was at home. I did not have any worries about her during her stay there, which is a huge statement because I'm rather particular about her care.
