HG is a dramatic natural stunner. It's compact, STEEP and loud with ROARING waterfalls. Many falls, you cannot see from above and without endangering self. There's been many fatalities over the years so swimming and climbing down to the falls are heavily discouraged by the local government. There are several very short trails from the road for viewing but the trails were ridden with poison ivies! Also, there were poured granite gravels in an effort to alleviate a landslide (which is rare in VT) from the paved road. One could cross AFTER (not upstream) the Gorge to cross to the opposite side. If you desire to, I'd recommend wearing a pair of water-shoes and perhaps not soon after rain. HG is unlike any other rapids I've seen in VT. It is worth visiting to see the extreme changes of water flow and power of nature. It's an out of place, tiny compact version of gorges that you see out West. Parking is sparse...a handful of spots above the Gorge. It was a bit of a downer to see so much (signs) discouragement. Obviously peeps don't stop coming....maybe they could embrace and build safeguards for everyone to access and enjoy this beauty safely?

A gorgeous (and dangerous if not respected) gorge complete with waterfalls and swimming holes. Had I not read about it, I would not have known of its previous history... on first glance it appears to be an untouched site as there are no obvious signs of its previous industry. The gorge attracts a number of different types of visitors... photographers, hikers, swimmers, etc. There is a very small parking lot to house everyone stopping in. There is very strict signage posted around the property warning of the danger the site. Heed these warnings as there have been over 2 dozen deaths spanning the last 50+ years in this area. It is easy to see why... the power of these waterfalls can be heard and felt as you approach the rim. If you choose to swim here, do so in the lowest basins (avoid the upper and its currents) and be safe... stay aware of your surroundings. I was more than content viewing the falls from a safe distance despite the elevated outdoor temperature that day. The risk that some people took during my short time there (hanging over the rim for photos, wading through the waters of the upper pools) was just incredible. Be smart. There are several short paths that deliver you to various views of the area. Tread carefully and you will be rewarded with some spectacular views. I just happened upon this location on my way to hike Camel's Hump but I'm so glad my GPS brought me down the dirt road this is located off of. It's worth the visit!

Office staff and line folks were wonderful, however, I seemed to have somehow earned the err of the chief flight instructor who told me that my original training organization was rubbish and that my training and rating didn't count for much. 1st. flt/gift certificate was quickly used up with a flight which ended up with the instructor declaring that there would be no further flight for a few hours as conditions were moderate turbulence. This did not help me as I got berated for my lack of demonstrable ability during the flight. After lunch, the 2nd flight/gift certificate was used to put me thru new (to me) maneuvers where I failed once again to meet the expectations of the instructor. Overall, an expensive and waste of good gift certificates resulting in a demeaning experience for me, which I'd anticipated and hoped would be a wonderful start to my journey back to glider currency. However, Warren airport is ideally located amid wonderful scenery and I'd expect that with their great glider equipment, it would make for an Amazing glider experience for anyone wishing purchase a scenic ride.

Set in a gorgeous brick building near the Winooski river in downtown Montpelier, the main yoga studio is infused with light, pulsating with positive vibrations, and enveloped with warmth from the warm wood floors to the translucent window curtains. It is spacious and grounding. There are plenty of mats, blankets, and yoga props to use, a changing space with clothing to borrow, a lending library, and easy online booking. Blossom is committed to ensuring that its classes are accessible; as such, sliding scale prices for classes and passes are offered, they offer a discount to seniors, teachers, and farmers, and no one is turned away. Visitors and new clients can pay only $35 for two weeks of unlimited drop-in classes. The yoga teachers are world-class, and the studio offers an array of classes, from vigorous ashtanga to restorative yoga. Their monthly Friday night restorative yoga + massages class is especially extraordinary and nurturing. I've had classes with Joanie, Anjali, Hope, and Devon. They each offer something different and special. Again, we would be lucky in a town of Montpelier's size to have access to just one of these talented and gifted teachers. To have all of them in one place is something I do not take for granted. We are so fortunate indeed. The gifted practioners at Blossom are transformational in their teachings and massage. Many of these teachers are also skilled bodywork practioners. The treatment rooms at Blossom echo the solid bones of the yoga studio - you'll be enveloped by warmth, light, soft textures, greenery, and peace. The menu of treatments is rich with the kind of services one would find at a much bigger wellness center. I've received at least half a dozen massages from Blossom, and I am left astounded every time by the body of knowledge and compassionate skill every practioner brings to their work. The generosity of the owner and practioners, who give back to their community in so many ways, ensures that the flow of karma is strong, committed, authentic, and joyful. Blossom Wellness Center is a treaure box to discover. I've been to many studios in cities and places much bigger than Montpelier, and Blossom is unmatched.
