There are much nicer gyms in the area for the same price that don't have huge guided work out classes taking up half of the gym and equipment. Literally had an instructor steal the bench I was using and say she'd give it back in 30 minutes. All of that BS on top of the horrible parking situation where you'll pay $50 a month to get parking tickets, disgusting locker rooms, constant early closures and broken equipment. The only nice thing about this gym is the friends I've made.

Some people are scared of this area of town but the YMCA is a safe place. definitely a must go to if one of the other YMCAs are your main hub location. This is the only facility with hydro rider- a spin class in the pool. It fills up fast, so call and reserve a bike, and bring your own towel. Cansler is a great facility and the Y staff is very friendly. On my visits, it was not as crowded as my usual Y and parking was not a problem. It's a shared lot with O'Connor Senior Center and there's an overflow lot across Jessamine. Just remember to bring your towel as they don't have towels. I highly recommend Cansler if you are looking for a fitness canter

As a musician and a broadcaster, the arts is very important to me. I have seen first hand the work…read morethat the Joy of Music School does in our community with kids who are underprivileged. Joy of Music School provides music lessons and instruments to children of families who cannot afford such luxuries. I use the term "luxury" because in most public school systems, the music and orchestra programs have been removed from the budget. I have personally visited Joy of Music School and have seen them in action. All the teachers are volunteers. The program has been life changing for many kids. Some students go on to major universities on music scholarships. For others it is an outlet from their daily lives, and for some it is simply a way to stay out of trouble. In any case, this is a cause worth funding. I would highly recommend The Joy of Music School on multiple levels. I am a proud supporter.
