I opened an account bank in June 2025 and was promised a $500 bonus for opening a new account and having at least one direct deposit of $500 into the account withing 90 days. I had three direct deposits for $500 into the account in 90 days and have held the account open and in good standing for 6 months and they will not honor their promise. Do not trust them. In my opinion they do not do what they say and are guilty of false advertisement. My wife and I planned on using that money to buy Christmas presents for our children and grandchildren. Just goes to show never trust bankers. read more

I love this bank and I won't ever go anywhere else except for the branch across from Krogers. Have been a customer here for many, many years. They are always SO friendly and will bend over backwards for you. Each of them knows me by name now even though I'm only in about once a month. Love Monroe Bank and Trust. Would recommend this bank to anybody. read more

First Merchants Bank was founded as the Merchants National Bank of Muncie, IN by Hardin Roads, a former successful wholesale grocer, together with a group of service-minded businessmen during the Panic of 1893. The enterprising men invested capital of $100,000. Since then First Merchants Bank has been growing both organically and through mergers and acquisitions. When we have a more detailed question, Sarah or Roxanne help us out at their desk with paper work such as setting up accounts, notarizing signatures, etc. I feel like I can talk to these people, and they are not just a corporate facade to me. This is very important, because there are times when I have questions that cannot be answered by an FAQ online. I'm definitely a fan of this bank location. :-)

Our taxes are kinda complicated but our preparer Nate took it all in stride and was super nice about it. In fact, he even pointed out that some investments I have weren't doing so well and that the return should be higher since the market has rebounded (being a financial idiot has it's drawbacks so it's always nice to hear a professional's opinion). At the end of the appt, when I asked about fees Nate told me that they do active duty military taxes for free. Apparently all Liberty Taxes are supposed to do it, but not everyone "volunteers" that info. What a nice surprise. I definitely recommend this place.

Seriously, every single person I ever encounter is super friendly, helpful and and will go above and beyond to make it a great experience. They always have an ample supply of lollipops and dog treats as an extra bonus! Today, I went to the bank because I needed a cashiers check. The process is intended to make sure you are who you say you are - which I appreciated. In order to withdraw money, I needed to submit my debit card with password; then received a text to my phone to enter onto the bank system in order to withdraw from my account. There were also other safeguards in place that made me feel like my money is in a safe place. Throughput this process, the person assisting me was very friendly and didn't make me feel like a thief. She kept assuring me that this is standard protocol. The transaction was completed in a timely manner and I was on my way. I must also say that the bank has a very modern, clean and comfortable ambiance. In the event that a customer needed to wait for service, it would be in upscale surroundings. However, the primary reason I always select this location over other possible branch locations is because of the extremely helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
