This is not your normal pawn shop. While you can pawn items you can also purchase things at a very fair price. A friend of mine in St. Louis told me he purchased an AR-15. I was thinking I really need an AR-15. I mean who doesn't? This was the second gun I have purchased here. They take all the time you need to make a decision. I was all over the map when I first came in as to what I wanted. We worked our way to the AR-15. No brand name as it was built from scratch. The rifle felt right and was light enough for what I wanted. So this is a gun shop for me in all reality and I will be back. They even had ammo in stock for the rifle I purchased! read more

The pawn business is like a bank but more fun. Jack is right they have quite a selection of arms. Jewelry used DVD's too. Most of the pistols and rifles are in new condition. A few used treasures are in the case as well, I usually stop by when they have a few ATV's up front near the front door. Plenty of tools for all trades. Staff usually knows the inventory. If not they have computers to look things up. It's a business that depends on people who need quick money and are willing to pay for that luxury. Unfortunately there is a seedy side to the business that LEO really don't care for. But it works for all parties even the victims of burglary can be reunited with stolen property with a good detective. But my guess some people ghost in and disappear not to be seen. Unexpected financial emergencies are never pleasant. My personally significant items of value were not something that I was prepared to sell and not typically sought after by pawn establishments in our current economy. After looking into various local (Sarasota) options, I spoke to Robb at First Pawn. He took the time to understand my situation, corresponded with me via email to gain knowledge about my items and assess the possibilities and worked with me to help me understand the pawning process, as I didn't have experience with it. I made the two hour trip and was pleased at the personal and friendly service that I received from all of the staff. They definitely went above and beyond to accommodate me and my unique situation. They even allowed some extra flexibility because of the distance I travelled to do business with them. Stopped in again a few months back to purchase another firearm largely in part that the selection of new firearms and prices are great, but mostly because I am a firm believer in great customer service. Scott and Adam are very professional, but still very friendly. I also appreciate that I am not treated like a "little lady buying a gun", but as a customer who is looking to make an informed purchase for the home protection of her family. I checked out this store after i was told by friends they had a large selection of firearms. There selection is large, and most guns are not priced fair, but some were just nuts. They have a century arms PSL rifle they want 2,000.00 dollars for it used, they are 800 dollars new most places you find them. There Mossberg 500 shotgun were 429.95. You can get the same one at shoot straight for 299.95. Most of there "new" guns were in very poor condition and looked very scratched up and used. There glocks were fair thats about it. I guess they feel that since they are ripping people off on pawns they can sell over priced guns to the same stupid people. I'll keep shopping at shoot straight and the shows. read more

This place is a rip-off! They use bait and switch tactics to sell their goods. I was in the store on a Thursday and saw an item that I wished to purchase but I did not have enough money on me to get it at the time. I mentioned to the salesman, Juan, that I had seen the item at a gun show the previous weekend and the vendor gave me a price of $599.00 but I would have had to go to their shop which is a long drive. Juan told me that he could match that price. I called on Friday to see if the item was still available and if the price was still $599.00. Juan was out sick so I spoke with another employee who said they would check and call me back in 10 to 15 minutes. An hour later, the store manager, Scott, called and we discussed the deal I had with Juan and the manager assured me that he could give me that deal. I made arrangements to be there Saturday morning with the money to buy it. I got there and went through the whole process of purchasing it up till the point where I would give them the money. At that point, they told me that they could not honor the price they had quoted me. Since I live 45 minutes away from the store, I had 2 choices, walk out and go to Cape Coral and purchase the item or finish the transaction I had started. Taking into consideration of the time and hassle that I had already invested, I chose to go ahead with the transaction. I would like to warn anyone thinking of buying anything from them to use caution and do not believe anything they promise you to get you into the store. read more

It takes them 3 months to respond to my Yelp comment and now they want to make things right with me? Its been 3 months! I'n sure its just a BS comment now since its been 3 months and they just want to make themselves look good on yelp. The store hires liars like bob and that piece of garbage mike to trick the customers into coming in then doing a bait and switch and upping the price as soon as they walk in.
