It used to be a good bank. Now it is more like a sitcom mafia knockoff. Have had business with them for a decade, until i recently tried to get a loan. Long story short, after 3 weeks of waiting for an answer from the bank, a board member from them offered me a job, I refuse, i like my current one. The next day i was told i don't have the right employment to qualify for the loan. Reported to FDIC, they contacted bank, got letter from bank with different made up reasons why i didn't qualify. Had valve cores removed from tires giving me flat tires, newspaper glued to my windshield, and a note taped on vehicle , threatening the safety of my family if i don't drop it. State police wouldn't even make a report, no surprise since person i reported brother-in-law is one over the area. Made reports with sheriff department, filed another report with FDIC on new developments. They contacted bank, received letter full of made up stuff, and final line of no-one affiliated with our bank is responsible the actions taken against you/your property. Final note: took me 3 days at a real bank to get the loan, without threats against my family or slander against me. Thus ending my bus with them. read more

I'd give their customer "service" a negative score if I could. I've had an account for 40 years and now they don't have my correct mailing address??? Getting that straightened out was nightmare. Then, based on my declining health, I sign a financial power of attorney so that my daughter can give me the help i need. The form is accepted by my other bank and my broker, but this institution refuses it....and won't tell me where i can get a form that they will accept. It has been one nightmare after another. I will be closing the account....and will be so glad to be done with this incompetent, bungling, and rude bank. read more

I have always had great service with FSCB and everyone is very friendly. I would recommend them as they are a small town bank making changes in communities. They're wonderful to work with if you need a loan and better than any other bank I have dealt with. read more

I've had bank accounts since I was 16 and I'm 74 now. FSCB has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They take forever to answer the phone, make erroneous charges to my account and take days/weeks to correct their errors, can't handle a simple mailing address change, send check orders to the wrong address. A piggy bank would be better. read more

If I was able to rate a 0 I would. I have been a customer at the bank located in Festus Mo for atleast 5 years and when there is a simple confusion and misunderstanding they decide to charge my account 13 overdraft fees and all I simply wanted was a courtesy and them meet me in the middle bc 400 dollars in over draft fees is ridiculous and the manager Debbie says there is nothing she can do that is simply unacceptable and unprofessional. I will make sure no one goes to that bank and any accounts that my family or friends have there will be closed. I do not make reviews ever but after the call back that I received they do not deserve any further business and people should not choose this bank. This bank is awful, awful, awful. They shut down my account from Bank of America, lost my checks and debit card in the mail, and had no one at any Columbia branch able to print me a new card. For DAYS. This means I had NO access to my money - only the small amount they let me take out once, with a limit, so I could only pay for gas and groceries but all of my bills were late. NO ONE cared, at any location. HORRIBLE customer service, greedy fees, and no clear incentive for banking with them versus literally any other bank or credit union. I would have NEVER chosen this bank, I was forced into it by Bank of America. I can't wait to see this place go out of business in a few years. read more

I have used this bank for years after they bought and improved drastically a local branch of another bank. I have used this bank for loans and have invested monies with them through First State Financial Management. I have made multiple loans there and trust the loan officer and staff to do things right. The staff is also friendly, knowledgeable and they confidentially handle my financial needs. I would recommend this bank to anyone. First State Community Bank has grown and added services but I still know who I will see when I walk into my local branch. I also like using their online banking www.fscb.com and love their bill pay system. It's easy for me to transfer monies to kids in college while being able to keep track of my accounts. Wow what a horrendous institution, I've been with them for 7 years out of location convenience and sheer laziness, took 3 years for them to successfully set up my online banking, last summer they overcharged my account by 2k and took two weeks refunding the overcharge, and now in the past week, they charged me $7 to refund my former 401k company a $103.80 check that had been written to rectify an underpaid distribution when I left my former employer, without any form of authorization from me, no notice whatsoever that they were giving the money back, and no apology for the issue at all, instead, Dallas, the downtown manager, tells me, "that's policy." and that he couldn't wave the $7 because he'd already waived too many fees in the past year, referencing all the overdraft fees they had to waive when they overpaid that $2k last summer and took two weeks to give the money back, like that was somehow my fault. The day my income tax return clears that account, I'm closing it and never going back. The best part, the stop payment that caused the bank to refund that $103.80? according to Transamerica, that was a mistake on their end and the check was immediately mailed back out. So tell me again Dallas why it is that I'm penalized $7 for someone else accidentally cancelling a check in error. $110 isn't a ton, but it certainly isn't pocket change, and to do all of that without even a courtesy call? Bad business plain and simple. read more
