I have kept it because of the amazing customer service and lengths they will go to, to help in any situation. I've since moved back to Ft. Smith. As a matter of fact, I always leave the place feeling like I've just visited a friend. It's weird because a bank is just a business that helps you manage your finances. They usually seem cold and businesslike. This place seems more like George Bailey's savings and loan from It's A Wonderful Life. What makes this place so special? Definitely, the people.

Bank of the Ozarks is a strong bank, and I have seen signs all around saying they are the 12th strongest bank in the US. That says a lot especially in this down ecomony. I really like this branch, or what I would call outpost (since it is located inside the grocery store of Cranford's). The staff are exceptional and are patient with you and will answer all your questions. Much different than other banks I have worked with. Excellent customer service....more like family.... 5 stars!

I opened a small checking a few years ago with them when they were Cornerstone Bank and was a bit gun shy about a full commitment to CS Bank because of my experience with the other bank. I was weighing using a fully online nationwide bank, but then decided to move everything to CS Bank instead. This has been a great experience. They are friendly, efficient and get the job done right. Doesn't sound like the best business practice to be unavailable to the public when most people work at the same hours 9-5, with an hour lunch break at noon. I would think he could go BEFORE or AFTER the standard lunch break, because they would be closed by the time I get out of work. Had to drive down the street to the Walton location and a manager (Nicole) helped me open an account and brought my paperwork and signature card to my place of work. She totally went above and beyond to make up for the lack of professionalism at 14th Street.

We've banked here ever since we bought our second home in Eureka Springs, and have never had one…read moresingle complaint. The staff here is always eager to assist us, and the bank building itself is spacious, clean, and well appointed. Finally, we do most of our banking here by way of online banking, and we can certainly testify to the fact that Equity Bank makes online banking simple for its customers/depositors. (Extremely easy to find, too -- smack dab on Van Buren, just across the street from one of the main entrances to Eureka Springs' historic downtown!) I know for a fact that many depositors come from Berryville and other northwestern Arkansas towns just to bank here. (That means a lot to me, as it means that it's well worth the drive for others.)

And also, lesson learned - - Google reviews are not trustworthy. [For that matter, neither are Facebook reviews. Equity removed the review I left on their page.] But every word here is true, verifiable, and... kinda shocking. You might start from the bottom and work your way up. The tl/dr? Try another bank. Equity is a mess. UPDATE 5: Equity made my debit card defunct WITHOUT TELLING ME (although I've money in my account). I used the card to reserve lodging for a week, on an upcoming research trip. You can imagine my mortification when the host called to tell me the card had been declined. Just now when I called customer service, I was informed "Equity didn't have to inform customers when they cancelled their cards." ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? UPDATE 4: Apparently, I'm not the only one they illegally charged overdraft fees, but - - clearly - - they're still up their old tricks, even when, only 3 weeks ago, they agreed to pay $1MILLION DOLLARS to customers they defrauded!! Instead of the purchase going through, I got a screen saying, "transferring you to Equity bank..." and then a screen with an Equity Bank logo, saying, Equity bank needed to verify my identity, so they were going to send a text to my phone. Except I don't own a cell phone, so I can't get texts. 2 hours on the phone to Equity. They say it's Amazon's problem, and only Amazon can fix it. Finally got through to Amazon, and they say, no, we don't even have a phone number listed for you. We know you can't get texts! The ones who are blocking this are at Equity bank. Call them. So I call Equity again. Another hour on the phone, after which time they say their Credit Card office has to fix it, except (yes, of course) it's Friday, and by now that office has closed. For the weekend. UPDATE 2: And... more mistakes... Last week I deposited a large check. A few hours later, I called to make sure the money had posted to my account and after I was assured it HAD, I transferred money from my account. They charged me an overdraft fee, even though I had plenty in the account to cover the amount. When I discovered what they'd done, they said there'd been "a mix-up with the tickets." P.S. The next day, I got a card informing me I was part of a class action lawsuit against Equity Bank - - apparently they've done this whole charging-unwarranted-overdraft-fees a lot. UPDATE: The next day, I discovered that a check I'd deposited for my honey hadn't been credited to his account (although I had a receipt for the deposit) because it was the same dollar amount as funds I'd transferred to his account. So they decided it was a mistake - - without even investigating. He had to argue with them, before they tracked the check to the corporate offices and discovered yes, it was yet ANOTHER mistake. Are these the people you want to trust with your money??? ---- The number of times Equity Bank has made drastic mistakes, causing me to be stranded without funds, unable even to purchase gasoline to get home, or - - like today - - embarrassed because my card was declined and a kind waitress had to pay for my breakfast... . Twice, they closed accounts without warning. . On every single one of these occasions it was because of errors on their part. . The current situation: when I asked funds to be transferred, they "accidentally" (a quote from the drive-through teller this morning) DUPLICATED the transaction, and drained my account, leaving me with a negative balance. . But it's Saturday, and although they were going to "try to fix things," they fixed nothing, and I have to head out of town early Monday with no funds. .
