A few of the many issues experienced at first security, the biggest being that sometimes charges would be mislabeled on the online app and therefore would be marked as fraudulent. Once, our car/home insurance payment came out as "Toyota finance". I do not own a Toyota so of course I marked it as fraudulent, which denied the payment to the actual business United home insurance. Thanks to FS I owed the insurance company a NSF fee and now have to take my payment in person (even though I've changed banks) because they incorrectly assume it meant I didn't have money which was not true. So angering. On top of that we kept getting charged a NSF fee on our account, to the sum of almost $300 in total, yet we had funds in our account. You can't see what is trying to come out or the total without calling or going to the bank directly. We finally went to this branch and had them break down our entire account to us and told us the president themselves would be calling us directly to figure out the NSF fees. The call never came through so we chose to take our business to arvest. I'm so over this bank and am thankful I found a bank that cares and I get my paycheck 1 day earlier than I did with FS, which is a helpful bonus.

And also, lesson learned - - Google reviews are not trustworthy. [For that matter, neither are Facebook reviews. Equity removed the review I left on their page.] But every word here is true, verifiable, and... kinda shocking. You might start from the bottom and work your way up. The tl/dr? Try another bank. Equity is a mess. UPDATE 5: Equity made my debit card defunct WITHOUT TELLING ME (although I've money in my account). I used the card to reserve lodging for a week, on an upcoming research trip. You can imagine my mortification when the host called to tell me the card had been declined. Just now when I called customer service, I was informed "Equity didn't have to inform customers when they cancelled their cards." ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? UPDATE 4: Apparently, I'm not the only one they illegally charged overdraft fees, but - - clearly - - they're still up their old tricks, even when, only 3 weeks ago, they agreed to pay $1MILLION DOLLARS to customers they defrauded!! Except I don't own a cell phone, so I can't get texts. 2 hours on the phone to Equity. They say it's Amazon's problem, and only Amazon can fix it. Finally got through to Amazon, and they say, no, we don't even have a phone number listed for you. We know you can't get texts! The ones who are blocking this are at Equity bank. Call them. So I call Equity again. Another hour on the phone, after which time they say their Credit Card office has to fix it, except (yes, of course) it's Friday, and by now that office has closed. For the weekend. UPDATE 2: And... more mistakes... Last week I deposited a large check. A few hours later, I called to make sure the money had posted to my account and after I was assured it HAD, I transferred money from my account. They charged me an overdraft fee, even though I had plenty in the account to cover the amount. When I discovered what they'd done, they said there'd been "a mix-up with the tickets." P.S. The next day, I got a card informing me I was part of a class action lawsuit against Equity Bank - - apparently they've done this whole charging-unwarranted-overdraft-fees a lot. UPDATE: The next day, I discovered that a check I'd deposited for my honey hadn't been credited to his account (although I had a receipt for the deposit) because it was the same dollar amount as funds I'd transferred to his account. So they decided it was a mistake - - without even investigating. He had to argue with them, before they tracked the check to the corporate offices and discovered yes, it was yet ANOTHER mistake. Are these the people you want to trust with your money??? ---- The number of times Equity Bank has made drastic mistakes, causing me to be stranded without funds, unable even to purchase gasoline to get home, or - - like today - - embarrassed because my card was declined and a kind waitress had to pay for my breakfast... . Twice, they closed accounts without warning. . On every single one of these occasions it was because of errors on their part. . The current situation: when I asked funds to be transferred, they "accidentally" (a quote from the drive-through teller this morning) DUPLICATED the transaction, and drained my account, leaving me with a negative balance. . But it's Saturday, and although they were going to "try to fix things," they fixed nothing, and I have to head out of town early Monday with no funds. .

The stupid/rude ass lady who answered the phone, after I verified EVERYTHING, I explained everything. She says nope can't! He doesn't get back till September 24th. So, I said whoever has the card can spend his money and he'll have to wait to file something when he gets back? Well, he can call the number on back of the card to cancel it? Hmmmm, it's lost!!! I've been dealing with a Mr. Ledbetter, a loan officer at the Joyce Branch of United Bank. Mr…read more Ledbetter was recommended to me by a realtor in Fayetteville as a go to man for home loans. I orginally contacted him the end of Janurary 2011. As of March 11, 2011 I'm still being asked for additional tax documents to determine if they can provide a line of credit for purchasing real estate. I strongly recommend NOT doing business with Mr. Ledbetter and maybe United Bank for real estate loans. I've been strung along and will be flying out tomorrow to Fayetteville to look at properties. However, I won't have an approved letter of credit/preapproval which will be a big handicap in negotiating a purchase(s). As an investor I will be starting over with another lender as of Monday due to the lack of follow through by Mr. Ledbetter. Buyers and investors BEWARE!!!!!
