For whatever reason I was denied an account but they placed a hold on the money I was going to transfer which last 2-4 days. They can remove the hold and neither can my bank. I have endless problems with Firstmark credit union regards to a auto loan payoff .I did a auto loan payoff and Firstmark credit union screwed up and drew two payoff amounts from my bank account for the same auto loan .They just refused to to except there mistake and I have to provide them my bank account statements to show 2 payments withdrawal for the same auto loan .This is now the 2nd day that this saga is playing out and still no resolution as of yet .They say they are busy investigating the matter .What I don't understand is that on there end it shows clearly that there are two of the same amount of money paid into the auto loan payoff,but yet they want to indirectly accuse my as the customer for not telling them the facts of the transactions .. read more

I got there at 2:11. the guy went into a meeting no one saw me til 2:45, thats not even the worst part yet. I was exited for may new business first check written to my company name. they said it would be a 9 day hold for new accounts first 30 days. I'm not a millionaire. I don't have all this capital floating around to hold me over for 9 days. I cannot believe the unprofessional behavior I experienced with their call center. I received a potential fraud charge and I replied it was not me. But was still charged. I called Friday confirmed it was fraud and questioned why it was still charged to my account. I called today, Tuesday, and no dispute was opened. Then agent told me I had disputed a sams club charge yesterday. False. I could go on. There is no way I will keep more than a couple of hundred dollars in this credit union. too much risk. read more

It is SO HARD to make payments on an auto loan (with a debit card). I've probably had 5 auto loans through different credit unions and this one is by far the most difficult. The teller option slows down the whole process of withdrawing money from the atm. I want to get my money out without having to wait 30 minutes. My mom and I went to the SE Military branch a year ago to add me as POD. We weren't able to take care of it that day because the lady was RUSE & we didn't have my dad's death certificate with us but SOMEHOW they knew he was deceased. She recently passed & I took BOTH their death certificates only to be told there's no beneficiary on the account. My mom was SUPER anal so I KNOW she didn't leave it like that. I have been a member for 30+ years since they were the San Antonio Teachers Credit Union. The past few years finances have been tough being the only income stream for the family requiring me to pick up extra side work. The side work writes me checks since I am considered a contact worker. I have deposited these company checks every 2 weeks and have always had them clear within a few hours to 1 day at the most. There were times I went into the negative on my account and the bank charged me 29.00 overdraft been for each transaction which I understand is the penalty I pay for being the the red. What has caused me to leave is that recently the regular checks I deposit on the side of my regular job direct deposits is that the credit union has started to hold my checks several days to supposedly wait for them to clear. I called and asked why the change and I was told the new policy was dependent on the member's time with the bank and account history. Basically, how else can they take money from me. By now holding my checks for days, I go into the negative and I incur overdraft fees. With the economy the way it is and everyone struggling, this credit union has figured out a way to screw me out of what little funds I have to support all of my family members. Seeing that I go into the negative sometimes, by holding my checks for days, I am forced into the negative by my own credit union. The worst banking establishment with which I have been associated. Modified my account number and supposedly notified me by mail. Not notified me of the new account number, notified me that it changed. Can you imagine writing a check using your original account number and then it changes? Fortunately, I found out when trying to do an electronic transfer into the account, which was rejected. When I called to find out why it was rejected, I was told the only way to know the new account number was to call in and ask, as it is not displayed online, nor on your statement. Again, the only way to know of the changed account number would be to call. This was according to the "help line." Seriously?!?! How can this place still be open for business? read more

I have been a member since 2016 but this month was the last straw. I freely admit that I am not the best money manager but this month was the last straw. I found 6 over draft charges of 28 dollars before I had. Gotten to my second incoming charges. Inspite of the fact that it showed there was a balance to cover each charge, they claimed there were holds on the money that didn't show. The reality is because of those overdrafts there wasn't the money to cover all the transactions on that day but only because of the over draft charges. What they claimed was the hold was for had funds to cover it. This bank abuses the over draft fees system. I will be looking for a new bank. I was a member back in 2001 but left about 10 years later. My husband and I decided to return a few years now but today I thank God we did! My son was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Once released he had to go right back due to complications. Our world stopped but the bills didn't so now trying to get back on our feet we went into the mission location. Right away we were kindly greeted and the young woman at the teller's counter made us feel at ease with her professionalism and willingness to help. The biggest blessing came with the help of Miss Trisha. I did not expect the help we received today with all three of our accounts. I WAS A MEMBER HERE AND THIS BEYOND HORRIBLE!.I had an auto loan, checking, and savings. Once I had an auto accident I was hurt and out on work leave for a couple of months to recover. The auto loan was late for 2 months and I kept the bank updated on my status. I they had my car taken right away from me (re pulled). Then finally 2 months later my auto accident claim was paid. THEY KEPT THE ACTION AMOUNT FOR MY CAR, Did not apply it towards what I owed to them, and took from the auto claim all the money for the auto loan and took money from the same claim to pay of my negative checking account. Firstmark Credit Union has been my bank since I moved to San Antonio 10 years ago. About 2 months ago, I received a letter from Firstmark informing me that my account had been breached and I would be getting a new debit card in the next few days. The letter assured me that their security team was watching my account and I would be safe just getting a new card. I don't shop online with my debit card or have any automatic withdrawals other than my T-Mobile bill, so who knows how/where my card could have been skimmed or hacked. Last week, I checked my account out of the blue to see my balance. I was shocked to see it was about $1300 less than I expected. Looking through my transaction history, I saw a debit card purchase (on the new card - the one less than 2 months old) for $1288.27 from Super Belem BR. I immediately called the customer service line to dispute the charge and waited on hold for 45 minutes before deciding to drive to the nearest branch. I got to the drive through and was still on hold, so I addressed the issue with the teller. I informed the teller that it looked like my account had been accessed fraudulently and I wanted to find out about a recent debit purchase that was not mine. The teller immediately said, without any additional details, that she bet it was someone in Brazil. She told me that her account had been accessed twice, and her mother's account had been hacked once, with this same scam. I asked and was told that both the cashier and her mother bank at Firstmark. She helped filing the claim to dispute the charge and cancelling the card (again). I was told that it would be 10 business days until the security department could review the charge and credit back my account. Once everything was handled, she told me her card making machine was down, and I would need to drive to the branch near the airport to get a new card. 20 minute drive to the airport and I'm told their machine is down, and it's actually system-wide problem. This was Friday, April 17th, 2020. All branches would be closed for the weekend, so I was out of luck until Monday if I needed a new card now. I went back home and spent the next hour waiting on hold to see if the charges could be reversed sooner, I was told that the security team *could* get the charges reversed as soon as Tuesday, but I would have to wait and see. As for the debit card replacement, the best thing they could do is mail one out or have me wait until Monday when the machines *should* be back up again. Monday - I went to the Gold Canyon location to get a new card and the teller informed me that their machine is down. I asked him if he could help me find a branch with a working machine, so I don't have a repeat of Friday's incident. He's gone for literally 5 seconds and comes back to say it's a system-wide problem and all branches are down. I had to go to the store anyway, and figured I would stop by the location closest to my house (the one that sent me to corporate on Friday) and had a new card made within minutes. The guy at the Gold Canyon location didn't even take a second to make a call to another branch to help. Awesome customer service guys!! Here it is on Wednesday, and the charges are still apparently being investigated. Even though I was in SA on Wednesday and had local purchases made, the bank still wants to make sure I didn't go to Brazil on Thursday and swipe my card for $1300 at a grocery store (google Super Balem - the teller was right) and come back on Friday to dispute the charge. I am currently on the phone to get update on the dispute, but have lost all hope with this bank. I used Firstmark to get a loan for my house and to get loan on a new vehicle. I have never seen a business treat a long-term, loyal customer so poorly. I have not had my complaint escalated to anyone that can do anything to keep me as customer. When I call, or go to visit the drive through in person, everyone seems to be happy with telling me to wait. With banks being so aggressive to attract new customers, I would think that my bank would at least be interested in keeping an existing customer. The importance of keeping existing customers, apparently, is not the Firstmark philosophy. Can't wait to have all this settled so I can close my account and go to a bank with better security and customer service ability. read more

I have an auto loan with firstmark. Got full coverage insurance before I drove off the lot with the car. 3 months later started receiving letters emails texts from firstmark saying that I don't have full coverage insurance and they're going to charge me another $6,000 for their insurance. If I send them proof of my insurance they wouldn't charge me. I sent them proof of my insurance which was full coverage from the time I got the car. Still kept receiving letters still kept having people saying I don't have full coverage insurance I sent my proof of insurance and about eight times. So finally I had to go into the office show them proof of my insurance after I switched to another insurance company. While looking at the documents in my face they tried to tell me that I did not have full coverage so I had to pull out my highlighter highlight my coverage read the information to them and then they told me they were created my account back. Somehow they only credited my account half of the money that they charged me for insurance that I've already had the whole entire time. And then raised my car payment. Even though I have provided proof several times I've called my insurance company and put them on the phone with them to as well as me they provide a proof. This is the worst bank ever do not get a car loan from here this place is a scam now they sent all this stuff to my credit report and everything was false information and I'm the one stuck dealing with it. read more

I have been a Firstmark Credit Union member since it was SATCU. I have always had good customer service experiences at the branches I have visited. My only issue is the stupid phone system they currently have. We can't even call our local branch directly...which to me...is completely COSTUMER UN-FRIENDLY. I am currently on hold now while.... ok that was exactly 9 minutes before an actually person came on the line...after finally getting someone on the line...she forwarded me to my local branch...I asked for my loan person's ext.... she gave it to me and transferred me...only to accidently hang up on me. WTH??? I am teacher with very little free time...Firstmark.....you phone system is completely inefficient.... you guys are getting wayyyyy to impersonal. It was your personal experience that made you stand out from the rest.... Now you are just another one of them.... My husband and I were victims of checking fraud. Tellers do not verify ID matches ID on file. I caught the activity and reported it. We were out about $2000. It would have been less if they had a weekend call center. Husband deposited live payroll check a week later and we didn't have access to it for over 48 hours. Auto deductions occurred as usual and fees were accrued. I could not believe that thieves had immediate access to fraudulent checks they deposited into my account but we had to wait so long to use money my husband earned. This account will be closed . It's been 6 business days (9 days total) since we reported the fraud. Let's see how much longer they punish us for catching what they didn't. read more

The Firstmark CU customer service line has disconnected me three times now, after repeatedly telling me my phone call was important to them, please hold. I called three times, was put on hold for 15 minutes each time, only to be met with a disconnect dial tone, for a total 45 minutes of wasted Saturday time. I don't have any free time to begin with, and to have it wasted in this way is unconscionable. If FCU is experiencing "a high volume of calls" because of the "upgraded" online system, then HIRE MORE PEOPLE. I have not had access to my account all week, AND I AM ANGRY about this. To the previous commenter, MOST all banks and credit unions charge a service charge to cash a check if you do not bank with them. Firstmarks $3 is actually the cheapest!!!. I went to BofA to cash a check that was written to me (at that time I did not have an account with another CU or Bank) and I was charged $8 to cash the check or I could "deposit the check" into a NEW account and pay $5. I have only been with Firstmark CU for a little over a month, and their customer service is outstanding. I am welcomed by name already and the employees at the Alamo Ranch location are superb!!! I used to bank with a large Military catered financial institution here in San Antonio for about 10 years prior to closing my accounts with them because of their lack of customer service. I was referred to Firstmark by a dear friend and his wife, both which have been banking with them since it was San Antonio Teachers Credit Union and I am so glad they did. read more

I have had two loans through them and if I ever need to talk to customer service to change address, due dates, update automatic payments etc they huffing, puffing and rudeness is beyond anything I have ever experienced. I have tried several times to set up my login to manage my car loan and the automated system will not recognize me even putting in my option SO I called in hoping to get it resolved, after waiting 15 minutes on hold the woman who finally answered my call was rude! She clearly hates her job and could not care any less about helping people. I was so angry because she cut me short to let me know she "already explained what she was referring to once to me" that I just hung up. Okay, here's what FirstMark Credit Union pulled on me. I was fraudently charged with $2,000 odd dollars on my credit card, which the bank caught. They called me up, questioned me about it, and said they would take care of it. That month, the bill showed up with the amount removed. I kept paying on my balance, wondering why it wasn't going down. Then I noticed---they PUT BACK THE CHARGE IN MY BALANCE WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME OR NOTING THIS ON THE BALANCE. Then they said I had to pay it (at 12.5 % interest) because I did not catch that mistake under 30 days. The only recourse they offered me was to take a loan out to pay it. Do not trust them for anything. Other things they have done; charge me $98 dollars a year for checking when I was able to qualify for free checking and tell me that I had to pay a penalty when I wanted to roll over an IRS account to another bank within the alloted time period AND I was over the age for any penalty to be used. In my opinion, they are crooks. read more

They won't let me close my checking account! I'm literally being held hostage by this credit union. And it's not because I'm overdrawn. It's because they INSIST I pay off my payday loans instead of allowing me to close my account and enter into a debt management program. The payday loans have already been in contact with the debt management program!!!! But Firstmark is insisting I keep my checking account open, pay off these pay day loans, and then provide letters from the payday loans indicating that said loans have been paid off. So they are siding with online predatory lenders, which is mind-boggling!!!!! I can't wait to write my state representatives about this. read more
