But nevertheless, they have it all. In Venos you can find loads of fresh fish... anything from swordfish to mackerel to clams to different varieties of squid. They have meats from Namibia and Botswana, New Zealand lamb, Australian beef, American beef, etc etc. It is kind of exciting even though I don't really eat meat. You can find guinea fowl, veal, wild boar, deer, and much, much more. They also have a stellar cheese selection, showcasing some fine European cheeses and my beloved la mozzarella di bufala. I have recently started to buy my white wine from them as well since they carry Yvon Mau Colombard Chardonnay which I find very tasty. Other than that they seem to have a large selection of all kinds of specialty food items (mainly from Italy and Greece) including a large selection of wines and spirits as well as quite the variety of fresh fish and seafood of course. We were already pissed off, when our Sardellen came and weren't fresh. We tried to change with something else, however the rude owner once again told us that we would be charged for both dishes, and it is our bad luck if the fish did not come up to be fresh! The menu is quite straight forward as are the wine pairings, making a choice quite simple so one can get to the meal quickly. The food and service were both great and I have no complaints. From the bread and butter service to the courses themselves, each was of high quality, great looking, and even better tasting. If you are not planning out weeks in advance, getting a reservation here might be a challenge. The wines were mostly German and again, high quality as the wine regions all offer great combinations with the food. All occasions can be served by a visit to Bidlabu and I'm glad I could fit in a reservation.
