Privacy & "Monitoring" Sharing invoices does not give permission to publicly disclose my total tax debt. An invoice shows what I paid for services -- not my personal financial details. As for "monitoring," I have full access to my IRS account and transcripts. As my Power of Attorney, he has access to the same information -- nothing more. During that time, I did not see any filings, updates, or documented actions. No CNC confirmation, no movement -- just "waiting." The explanation about bankruptcy timing is also misleading. The only action that could affect timing would be something like an Offer in Compromise (OIC), which I never requested. CNC (Currently Not Collectible) simply pauses collections. It does not affect bankruptcy discharge timing. Even if nothing was done at all, and I simply followed the legal timing rules, my debt still would have been discharged. So this wasn't about strategy -- it was about a paid service that was not performed. 2. Minnesota (State Issue) The Minnesota work was part of the services I paid for. The "new" state balance came from a federal adjustment (CP2000) during the same time I was under representation. This was not a future issue -- it happened while I had a representative. I brought this up and was told to "wait and see what Minnesota would do." The claim that I did not disclose the adjustment does not make sense. As my Power of Attorney, he receives the same IRS notices I do. Also, there was already a Minnesota lien and a 25% wage garnishment in place. This was not a new risk created by "poking the bear" -- it already existed, and he was aware of it. Despite that, no action was taken to address it, even after I provided updated financial information multiple times. After bankruptcy, I personally had to contact Minnesota, deal with the lien, and resolve the balance -- the same work that was included in the services I paid for. So the concern is simple: Minnesota resolution was paid for, the issue happened during representation, I followed the advice to "wait," and I ended up handling everything myself. 3. The Dispute I did not ask for "free work." I reached out because I could not get a clear explanation of what was actually done beyond "monitoring." I have no issue with the $2,500 representation fee. My concern is with the additional $3,000 for "IRS Uncollectible Status & Resolving Minnesota Tax Debt," where there is no documentation showing CNC was completed or Minnesota was handled. At the time, I was trying to resolve this reasonably. I had already handled Minnesota myself, and CNC was never used in the outcome. Asking about a credit or offset was simply an attempt to reach a fair resolution based on what was actually done. Final Thought: This is just my experience, but because Minnesota was not addressed in time, I am now left with a substantial state balance after bankruptcy that I still have to pay. Based on what I understand now, this could have been avoided with proper timing and action. I also want to be clear on something I still don't understand. I paid separately for a bankruptcy attorney, CNC was never filed or used, and I ended up handling the Minnesota resolution myself. So it raises a simple question -- what exactly was the $3,000 for? If the answer is just "monitoring," then that was never clearly defined or communicated as the primary service. I trusted a professional to guide me through this process rather than relying on my own research -- that's why I hired one in the first place.
