If you are there in the day/good weather there is a very substantial outdoor area with great sea views. I did not try the food and based on other reviews I would suggest you avoid it if you want anything more than very standard pub grub - there is a fancy restaurant right across the road and renowned fish and chips at the other end of the seafront, plus lots of other options.

Ringside seats to the best mother nature has to offer from the enclosed porch which gives you a fabulous and uninterupted view of the ocean. The chips are great and the portions huge. If its cold wet and blustery then the Spyglass is the place to warm your cockles.

We wanted to have a nice quiet drink and why not in such an old, historic building? You could easily feel the vibe of centuries gone past and their fire place is something else. It is massive and has huge highland coo horns adorning it. We sat in their backyard and it is quite the sun trap. I read up on their history and was actually very pleased to have visited this place. Enjoying a pint of Applewood Cider on the same spot were pirates and kings had their belly filled and their whistles wetted, makes one feel special. Recommended to all! Not only is it the last known address of the last body pulled from the wreck of the Titanic (James McGrady), it is also where Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) won his ticket on the ill-fated voyage and is featured on the movie. There were two rooms of the pub, each with a bar and tables/booths. There was one bartender working, named Roo. He was so fun to talk to!! He told us about the history of the bar, the area, and gave us recommendations of places to sight-see during our brief trip to Southampton. He also had amazing beer/drink recommendations. We ended up talking to one of the regular patrons, who highly recommended the fish & chips. He was not lying, it really was *THE BEST* fish & chips I had during the entire trip. Really fresh fish and chips, really delicious!! It was the best I've had, ever I believe. The space is dimly lit, full of fun trinkets and memorabilia, and has a lot of character. I lost my mind for a moment when I found newspaper articles dated April 2012 from when the Titanic set sail and when it sank. THE newspaper articles. Adhered to the wall with scotch tape (!!). I asked Roo about the lack of preservation/security of these notable pieces of history and his response was, "nobody is going to take that, this is England!" Overall, a really fun experience and amazing fish & chips. I recommend and would 100% return if I was in Southampton again.

The pub is the only pub in the harbour and has a large carpark so access is very easy. Using a wheelchair is not a problem as the doors are large and the interior is spacious, however upon my last visit there were no disabled toilets but the normal toilets were adequate and they allow a carer to go in with you. The pub itself is decorated inside with a wonderful warm almost mexciana feel, there are warm burnt oranges next to cool blues and the welcome you receive is very warm and friendly even from the locals and other drinkers visiting. It is a family friendly pub with children allowed in right up until closing time, however don't let this put you off it's not a rowdy noisy place with kids running about it's just a good old family atmosphere. There is a small outdoor area with a few tables which has some old ships memorablilia and is wonderful on a summers evening. There is a darts board and the whole pub is full of wonderful old heavy wood tables like you'd of found in a good old English pub of the last centuries. The bar is extensive with something to make every drinker happy and there is a good food menu which will surely fill you up and all reasonably priced. Go there you won't regret it.
