Adam is a phenomenal guide. He understood that this was a big day for my wife, her first SOCKEYE fishing experience. We found our spot in a few minutes and quickly learned to the fine art of "flossing". 60 minutes later we had bagged out, three beautiful SOCKEYE each. He knows the environment intimately, was absolutely superb when it came to working with my wife and had her casting like a 40 year veteran in literally, no time at all. KING SALMON Fishing With Fishology and Chase We were scheduled to to go Halibut fishing. The weather turned and that was the end of that. Mark and Alicia jumped into high gear and got us booked with Chase for a KING SALMON guided experience. We had so many questions and every one went out of their way to set us up for success. Communication is always top notch with this crew. Highly responsive, quick to tackle anything that may come up. Casey is one of the hardest working guides I have ever met. He pushed us into the best fishing holes and worked the ores to capitalize on the best spots, in the best holes. He constantly rowed, tended lines, swapped out fresh bait, coached and taught us all about the Kasiloff river and their residents, the gorgeous KING SALMON. The KINGS are diminishing at an alarming rate and all the guides work very hard to preserve these fine fish for generations to come. We caught 3 nice KINGS and two HUGE SOCKEYES. Whatever we were not allowed keep, Chase made sure went back to the river with as little handling and as much care as possible. It makes me so happy to know that there are people like Chase out there, providing incredible experiences yet working that hard to preserve these experiences for future generations. He explained to us how the fishery is protected and kept us off the spawning beds. This in no way meant any less fun or smaller fish. Awesome experiences in three separate years! I fished with Mark last was July 2014. He and his guides are very experienced. We did King Salmon, Halibut, Combo, and Trout fishing and had great times. We have gone in both June and July. Call and ask him any questions about your requests. They are very accommodating. Mark knows his stuff having grown up in Soldotna and it pays off. We had a great day out on the Kasilof river with our guide Brandon. Brandon was able to put us on a King with our first line drop in about 10minutes! While the day was a little slow after the first King, we did get to learn to floss for sockeye and catch a "Jack" which we released to catch another day. Overall, Brandon made for a great day out on the river, it was like fishing with a friend, he also made sure our bait was always fresh and changed it frequently to up our odds. I am not really happy with him because he should have told me that the date I booked is not the best day for salmon fishing. Even though some unpredictability in fishing, it was a common knowledge that the sockeye salmon run starts around 7/15, not 7/10. We were cold and didn't have a thing. It was a long, miserable boat ride up and down the river. The only thing stopping me to give him one star is that he seems a nice guy and knows enough about the area. So if you are in town at right time, you may want to go with him. But not me. Updated on 2/24/2015 to counter that he posted. It was complete misery we had on the day. There are bunch of people lured by the phrase "King Salmon Capital of the World" that day. Out of seemingly more than 100 boats, I saw 3 or 4 boats caught "A" fish. When I called for information, he told me that the fishing would be good during the time. He has to change his definition of "good" fishing in my opinion. So to tell the true feeling, I like to tell everyone to avoid fishing on the river unless you are fine with trolling several days to get a "giant" (means less than 100 lb) king salmon or during Sockeye run, during the time you will get snagging lots of Sockeyes. I rather trolling in tropical ocean for marlin or tuna. read more

We did the Kasilof River and it was unbelievable!!!! Mark, the owner, and Nathan, our tour guide, were absolutely incredible. It was my first time fishing, pouring rain, and I was not prepared with rain gear whatsoever but Mark went above and beyond to come pick my boyfriend and I up after 6 hours and giving me a GREAT deal on a full day trip that I shortened. I did get a few bites and our Guide Nathan was amazing- super funny, down to earth, and knew his shit. I hope the two other men on our boat caught some 100lbers and had a blast. I highly recommend this company and this group. They care about their people and care about their customers. I just got back from a fishing trip on the Kenai Peninsula, one that I started planning 10months ago and after searching hi and low for the right guide, I decided to go with Mark Wackler (Owner of Fishology). Turned out to be a great decision! While he is an expert fishing guide, he also takes great time to ensure you enjoy all aspects of you trip. All through the process of planning the trip he was quick to respond with helpful advice on things to do, places to see and he answered all of my questions honestly and gave expert local advice at every turn. Mark truly went above and beyond while planning and then during my trip. Even though the fishing was slow for a few days on the Kasilof and Kenai, he worked even harder to find the fish, which we eventually did . He is an incredible guide who knows his stuff and truly looks after you every step of your trip (like calling us on our first drive in to town just to make sure we had good directions to the lodge and to see if we needed anything). We went out with Mark Ledden from Driftwater fishing the next day and were shown how to properly fish for Kings (both me and my girlfriend caught Kings & trout).
