Tried to cancel my membership at LA Fitness Perinton today and had one of the worst customer…read moreservice experiences I've had in a long time. I was asked why I was canceling, told them there really wasn't a specific reason, and was repeatedly pressed for one anyway. When I finally said "just put whatever you want," the employee claimed my account was closed -- but instead only sent me an email with instructions on how to cancel myself, including one option telling me to go back into the location to cancel in person. As I was leaving, he muttered "fat fuck" under his breath, and when I turned around and asked him to repeat it, he refused. Thankfully, I called corporate support in California and they were excellent. They immediately helped close both my account and my wife's account over the phone and documented the complaint about the employee. Also worth noting for anyone in New York: gyms are required to provide a way to cancel over the phone, so you do NOT have to go into the location to cancel your membership. Stay vigilant, my friends, and be warned about the experience at LA Fitness Perinton. Huge credit to the corporate phone support team for handling it professionally.

If you care about Fairport or Fitness in general, then this is the gym for you. It seems they finally fixed the sensor for off hours to work, which has been a huge bonus. Instead, HE decided that if he through in the morning classes (which I was not comfortable with working out in a group setting, yet) would be fine for the mornings, and kept encouraging me to come in after a 10 hour shift. I work in healthcare and that was an exhausting time of day for me, so I could not make it work. I tried my best to come on my off days, but that really limited my consistency. He would make mysoginistic comments about my work outs and "looking tired" when I was there. I tried to confront him and he dismissed me mentioning the am classes he offered (which I never utilized other than one time and it was uncomfortable for me). When I stopped going, he refused to return my calls. He owes me ~$800 for the last month that I could not make it because I felt I was wasting money doing half ass work outs at times that were not good for me. The point -- if your a child with a specific goal and/or someone who has a flexible schedule and does not mind going to classes -- great! If you are an important-looking dude, George may get a trainer at the times he promised you. If you're a young single female -- be prepared to be treated like a joke. Let me preface this with me laying out for them EXACTLY what my flaws were and what I needed to be consistent. I told them I struggled after work and was looking for a morning session to set my day. My coaches were amazing. They texted me and encouraged me. George, was not understanding and totally did not deliver on his promises--and then kept my money.

Took advantage of a Groupon deal here and after my first class, have to say I'm very pleased I did…read more Went to my first bootcamp this morning and it was a great workout, geared towards beginners since the movements were simple, but scalable to be challenging for any fitness level. The box itself is a tad difficult to find, stay left and go all the way back, when you see the tractor tires, you've made it. Saturday morning bootcamp was small and intimate, only 4 of us there which is always better for coaching movement from the trainers. It definitely has a family feel, everyone got along and were very welcoming and encouraging. Definitely worth a shot if you're looking for a challenging workout!

The mailbox eventually says it hasn't been set up. ...I eventually had to send an email to corporate, look around in my spam folder for a response days later, and go through infuriating obstacles and hoops to talk to a person. For a second time, I am attempting to quit while two billing cycles have gone by. I must remind myself the employee at the end of management's stick are not the problem. Gimme luck. Since it is a small local place class sizes tend to be small and the gym has plenty of open spots to workout. All of the staff is amazing and every class I have been to is great. They have so many possible times to get to each day just incase you work its pretty easy to still get to classes. They offer tabata, spin classes, burn workouts, yoga and every few months they add in new classes they offer. The instructors are very professional and always know what they are doing and offer modifications for those who need it.

They mix up the 45 minute sessions well with water breaks and also a short interactive visual game on the TV screen.
