Everything precisely measured and cut -- more than I ever expected to be done to protect the clock. When the clock arrived (safely--of course) to FL, the movers hired another man to uncrate the clock and get it working again. Even the man in FL who uncrated it commented about the beauty of the crates! He even asked if I would mind if he took the wood that was used to build the crates (with the thought of reusing it the next time he was called to make a crate for a customer who is moving something delicate). I thought that was the ultimate compliment to Shawn: that another woodworker recognized the workmanship that went into building the crates. Unneighborly…read more Waking up to their crew yelling in our residential neighborhood before 7 am, working start time, for months is the least of my worries. Being sworn at by their staff is not neighborly. They seen to forget that the street does not belong to them. What's truly frustrating, and why I would never suggest the company- they do not use working phone numbers for their permits that they file with the city. So getting ahold of someone when there's a real issue is impossible. For example, their construction crew is causing a very serious and dangerous issue with the buses scheduled to pick up preschoolers each school day in the morning. They are blocking the road with cranes and equipment in the middle of the bus stops. This causes an unsafe situation. It has also caused children on the street to miss school. Since where their bus stops is being used as a construction area. But since the company does not post any working numbers for permit or the public then there no way to discuss with the owner or manager how unsafe they are being when blocking the street with equipment in the am. And since those on the site are no receptive to discussions with neighbors about problems- problems continue to mount. I like being told to go "fuck myself" and that I'm fat whenever I ask the crew when the will be moving their equipment out of the middle of the road as they block our entries streets access, but especially my front door. This builder runs a real classy crew. I can't wait until they're done building near us. It's horrific and it makes me resent our new neighbors who haven't even moved it but bought with them.

Bobby and his team were supposed to start our project mid pandemic but then slated our start to…read morelate fall/early winter. At our request, we asked for our project to be postponed until early spring due to lack of materials and opening our home to the elements, it was not practical. Construction was to begin right after Easter 2021 but we received notification through an email less than a week before starting that they were no longer going to do our project. There was a huge lack of communication throughout the entire process and when we did actually speak to either Bobby or one of his employees, we were assured each time that everything was in order and those few things that were not would be taken care of in the next couple of days. However we would never get a response on finalization of those particular concerns. We had given a lump sum of money in summer 2021 and asked it to be returned when the agreement was made to start in spring and a new check would be issued. They gave us the run-around and no money was returned until after they canceled and less all our permits which are only good until summer, which is impossible to get a new contractor in that short amount of time. I highly recommend you do your research before you higher a contractor. Make sure to ask for references as well. In the end, I am glad that RJ Steele Construction did not open up my house.

Botched chimney flashing repair…read more I hired Monroy to replace my chimney flashing that was leaking inside the house and causing water damage to the wall in an upstairs bedroom and my living room below. The job also included caulking the J-channel that ran up and down the entire chimney. Jeff charged $2950 for the job and had a man named Carlos come do the work. Carlos missed caulking a section of the J-channel which is leaking into the house now. After another day of rain the original flashing leak is still leaking so I consider this a complete failure. I had already had the inside wall tore open so I can clearly see the leaks. Jeff has stopped returning my calls and texts so he has no intention of making this right. If they don't get it right the first time you're screwed.
