When it came time to fix the ceiling, we could not get the previous company to return our calls so we turned to MXCP Construction. We had a consultation over the phone and I agreed for them to start the job the following week. They arrived promptly, assessed the damage in person, and talked me through the repair and patch process. They got to work right away and finished the repairs on the same day including the texture. The ceiling repair had to dry so it could not be completed on the same day. The crew cleaned up and took all the debris with them. The price was reasonable, they were timely, and the ceiling looked good!

Unneighborly…read more Waking up to their crew yelling in our residential neighborhood before 7 am, working start time, for months is the least of my worries. Being sworn at by their staff is not neighborly. They seen to forget that the street does not belong to them. What's truly frustrating, and why I would never suggest the company- they do not use working phone numbers for their permits that they file with the city. So getting ahold of someone when there's a real issue is impossible. For example, their construction crew is causing a very serious and dangerous issue with the buses scheduled to pick up preschoolers each school day in the morning. They are blocking the road with cranes and equipment in the middle of the bus stops. This causes an unsafe situation. It has also caused children on the street to miss school. Since where their bus stops is being used as a construction area. But since the company does not post any working numbers for permit or the public then there no way to discuss with the owner or manager how unsafe they are being when blocking the street with equipment in the am. And since those on the site are no receptive to discussions with neighbors about problems- problems continue to mount. I like being told to go "fuck myself" and that I'm fat whenever I ask the crew when the will be moving their equipment out of the middle of the road as they block our entries streets access, but especially my front door. This builder runs a real classy crew. I can't wait until they're done building near us. It's horrific and it makes me resent our new neighbors who haven't even moved it but bought with them.

At our request, we asked for our project to be postponed until early spring due to lack of materials and opening our home to the elements, it was not practical. Construction was to begin right after Easter 2021 but we received notification through an email less than a week before starting that they were no longer going to do our project. There was a huge lack of communication throughout the entire process and when we did actually speak to either Bobby or one of his employees, we were assured each time that everything was in order and those few things that were not would be taken care of in the next couple of days. However we would never get a response on finalization of those particular concerns. We had given a lump sum of money in summer 2021 and asked it to be returned when the agreement was made to start in spring and a new check would be issued. They gave us the run-around and no money was returned until after they canceled and less all our permits which are only good until summer, which is impossible to get a new contractor in that short amount of time. I highly recommend you do your research before you higher a contractor. Make sure to ask for references as well. In the end, I am glad that RJ Steele Construction did not open up my house.

He did an estimate for a roof, we accepted, gave him a downpayment and did not hear any update for two months. When I called and asked for some urgency, he sent a crew to deliver materials. They said they would start working in the rain. I told them I felt uncomfortable with that and without any discussion they left and cancelled the contract that I had waited for months to be completed. I am blown away. I couldn't get in touch with anyone. When I finally reached Mike, he decided it was easier to refund my money than deal with an unhappy customer. Imagine. Now I am a very unhappy former customer. The price was about 3 times less than other bids I received, and the result is superb. It looks beautiful and gives me so much peace of mind. My floors are 100 years old, and had some repairs and refinishes along the way, some done poorly. Before the job, the floors had many broken, loose, and split boards. They were discolored, worn in some areas, and had slight gaps at the end of the boards. D&J repaired them so well you cant even tell where the repairs where. The floors overall feel much more solid, are a consistent stain and finish throughout, and even squeak a good bit less, though that wasnt really a promised outcome due to the age and construction of the floor. Overall, extremely satisfied with the whole process and outcome. Highly recommend them.

They were supposed to work Mon - Fri but Dave called to say they had a family commitment on Monday and would get the job done Tues - Fri, which they did. The first floor is beautiful. I love the stain. But the second floor is disappointing, especially around the perimeter of each room. There are long lines of stain where it sat too long and visible scuff and sanding marks. They should have gone back in with a hand sander and a finer grit, but didn't. It took them a week to respond to our 2 emails & 2 phone calls. Dave was on vacation, so we dealt with his dad, Jerry. We met at the house & he initially agreed to try & fix the problems. The night before they were supposed to try fixing them, though, he called us (@9pm) and said there wasn't anything they could do. The floors were "good enough" and they would neither try to repair nor give any money back. He said he was disappointed in the work and hopes his son, Dave, learns from it but I don't know what he'll learn since they kept all the money. I'm left frustrated and disappointed that they so utterly refused to stand behind their work. The floors were clearly more of a challenge than they expected and, instead if working with us to give more time, they did a slipshod job and left us to deal with it. Dave made a big deal about wanting us to be satisfied enough to leave a 5 star review, but we just can't.

We had him paint some of the walls yellow, which is a terrible color in terms of coverage, and the paint he used turned out awesome in just two coats (I have painted yellow before and three coats didn't do the trick). He made suggestions to help keep costs down and the final result feels so much cleaner and brighter than the builders grade paint that was here before. It's been a few months since the work was done and the gutters have not leaked since. At least one location was really hard to get to, but Brian took the time to think through solutions and got it done.
