In my fourth year my back hurt so bad I would take ibuprofen after work, tylenol p m to go to sleep, and Aleve if my bag hurt during the day. A friend of mine introduced me to Hot Yoga Republic and I was definitely skeptical at first. Does a construction worker even belong in yoga? The answer is YES! I took five classes in a row and and by the fifth class I was sold. Kathryn and the team are amazing, kind , inspiring, and supportive! 5 's I'll definitely keep coming back!

Unfortunately, it closed so I had to look elsewhere. Pro's: it's fairly close by, the heating and humidifying system is great, and the staff are very nice and seem to have their act together. It seems pretty clean, (but the locker room is meh). I like being able to purchase a 10-class pass that is good for a whole year. Con's: some of the classes are insanely jam packed. As in, other people's mats are a few inches from you in all directions. I understand they are trying to max out the capacity, but I will now only go to classes in the early morning because the other classes are so crowded. The other problem is parking. Many of the spaces are reserved for the other businesses in the strip mall and I'm afraid of getting towed. Moral of the story: show up EARLY for class in the afternoons, evenings and weekends to get a spot for your car and your mat! I will probably continue to practice here but I would not buy a monthly membership given the con's mentioned above.

I have been a client for the past few months with an 8 class a month membership that I paid 229 a…read moremonth for. First off, I have been having consistent issues with not getting off class waitlists for the past two months. If you want to take a class here you have to get on a waitlist and you will usually know an hour or so before class if you get in or not. So classes are not guaranteed and you have to sacrifice plans and hope you get off the waitlist. I am a working mom so that scheduling doesn't work for me. This probably explains why most of their clientele is retired women. Today, I also had a horrific experience when I went to a class taught by Rosalyn. I finally got off the waitlist and got a nanny to help with my baby son while I took the class. I came to the studio on time and selected a spot in the corner. At the start of class, my nanny texted me a question about my five-month-old son that I needed to take a second and respond to. The instructor snarkily told me loudly from across the studio during class that I can either "focus" on class or go outside and text. It was so demeaning and insulting. Instead of quickly responding to my nanny's question, I was forced to go outside to type my once sentence reply, which ruined my entire class and resulted in my humiliation as a mom. Not only was this totally out of line, but there is no policy prohibiting brief texting in class. I asked and they confirmed there was no such policy. Being a mom is a full time job I can't turn off and neglect for a pilates class. A super quick text that wasn't bothering anyone or creating an unsafe situation should have been a total non issue. Instead the instructor was a total mean girl. This behavior was abolutely appalling and has made abundantly clear to me that this studio does not want mothers (nevermind working mothers) as clients.

But alas, I did not continue my sessions with any other instructor, and after 4 years I've lost all that wonderful tone. When I found out about Club Pilates opening near me, I decided to sign up during the opening promo; $129 a month for 4 sessions, which is very reasonable. Now obviously to really sculpt your bod, twice weekly would be optimal, but I know myself well enough to start gradually and work up to it. A single session can be easily added for $39 or perhaps I will move up a plan? I have worked out with 3 instructors, all great, and I do have a favourite. The pace and variety of exercise is engaging. I also am comfortable with the layout, the amount of reformers, the lighting and the soundtracks. The staff at the front desk are super helpful, Beau & Fiona! Convenience is also huge factor in my decision and motivation to return to a Pilates routine. CP has two studios near me. Since I work near Northgate, I am able to zip over afterwards and take advantage of perfectly timed sessions aligned with my schedule. Keep in mind, you have to schedule your classes ahead of time on a convenient app. As CP has already become popular, classes fill up quickly, I suggest getting on waitlists as spots do open up. Tip: arrive early to park at Northgate One Shopping Center, it's a populous location! I'm hard to impress requiring a great deal of working parts to mesh. I'm completely comfortable referring you to CB ! Go forward and Plank!
