Felt like I had to stop in here to write a quick review for this gym. This is the only Fitness 19 I have ever been a member at and hopefully the only gym I will need in the future. The price ($19 / $29) is unbeatable for the area for the facility. The locker rooms are standard, no sauna or tanning bed if you are into either of those. But that comes with the territory. When I signed up they provided a free personal training session. I quickly scheduled and the workout was good. I felt the trainer knew what he was talking about and I did not feel pressured to continue utilizing the service. There's a conveniently located GNC in the same plaza too. read more

Awful gym. Spiders crawling in webs in the corner of the gym. Half of the Treadmills are out of order and another quarter of them should be out of order (use with caution of injury). Went to cancel my membership over the phone and they told me I must come in person or mail a letter to do so... Only thing nice about this place is that you can come in 24/7. read more

The gym is DIRTY!! always out of sanitizer. The treadmills have not been wiped down or vacuumed around in AGES. Needs a GOOD scrubbing. Machines not wiped down after use. Staff just sits at the desk. read more

So many broken machines/equipment and just continue to add more signs that they're out of order. They haven't fixed any in the last couple months since I've been there. I enjoyed it here because they had a kids room but they just keep eliminating hours that it is open. It is only offered 4 hours 3 times a week with No weekend or evening childcare options which is not helpful at all for people with jobs. Such a disappointment. This was a nice gym until the owner decided to cancel ALL the fitness classes at Caste Village and then Greentree several months later. I prefer to work out and feel more motivated in a fun group setting, so I promptly cancelled my membership and joined another gym that values group fitness. They never even emailed members to let them know this was happening and we, along with the instructors, only found out a week before (I feel bad for the people who were not at the gym at that exact time and most likely showed up for a class in February only to find out they were cancelled). FYI the Greentree website STILL has the fitness class schedule on it and is advertising that the $33 a month membership includes "unlimited group classes", but all the classes ended in January. It also says it includes "unlimited kids room", and they haven't offered childcare in a while. As far as the gym in general, don't be surprised when you see dust bunnies floating around everywhere - it's obvious the gym hasn't been cleaned in ages. Very unprofessional! Please note: The instructors that I had, Diana and Samantha, were awesome and get 5+ stars! I will truly miss them and their fun, motivating workouts. My 1-star rating is solely based on the gym itself and how it handled cancelling the group fitness classes. It is not a reflection of the instructors, who are amazing at what they do. read more

Fitness classes have been cancelled moving forward. Sad to see and ownership doesn't seem to be aligned with the people's fitness goals. Apparently cited due to class attendance but the class I went to with Samantha was always full. They never cleaned the fitness room, overcrowded it with loose equipment and she still had a loyal following. I will be canceling my membership since they cancelled their fitness classes. read more

I've been a member at the Greentree fitness 19 for nearly 10 years now. I go 3 to 5 days a week. until recently found it a great place to go. I was able to shed 60 pounds and get back to my old fighting weight. The staff was friendly. The place was clean. The equipment was working well. But that change about a year or so, ago. Under new management things have gone downhill quickly, the place is always dirty. Recently they moved in a bunch of old equipment that's beat. So now it's crowded and cluttered. It's impossible to walk around the equipment when there are other people in the gym. It's nearly impossible to load weights on the machines. It's totally chaotic and I go during the day when the crowds are small. Much of the equipment is broken torn up and the place is filthy. It reminds me when I used to work out of my basement when I was a kid. I'll be changing gyms. read more

Nice gym, has everything you need for a good workout as far as cardio equipment, weights, and machines. Very clean, has sanitation stations throughout the facility. All employees and members were in compliance with mask wearing and distancing. Would recommend. read more

Manager is rude! There's no quality control from a corporate office so basically the manager/owner feels that he can shame you into keeping a membership. Went in to cancel my membership as I have been running outside to prepare for long distance runs and I was given a litany of questions (seemed like an interrogation) as to why I want to cancel. He shamed me for exercising outside all year round. Not the type of customer service experience that I was expecting. Will definitely not return. read more

I wanted to wait to get in a couple months before I reviewed the gym... partly to make sure I would actually go on a consistent basis! I was totally a January 1st sucker and joined right after the new year. But I'm proud to say I've been going consistently since then. The pros absolutely outweigh the cons. It's super cheap at $19-29 depending on if you take classes or not. It's clean, which I cannot say for the disgusting LA Fitness in South Side. I regularly see the staff cleaning up the machines, so I don't find old candy wrappers in the cup holders anymore (true story from LA Fitness). I never worry about getting a machine I want and it can get busy around dinnertime/after work but nothing crazy where you're waiting for machines. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Cize class I've been taking, which is a hip hop type class. I'm excited to see a couple new classes springing up on the calendar too. While I wish there was a little bit more variety, I realize it's a dirt cheap gym, so you can only ask for so much. Small gripe, but I wish they had those water bottle water fountains. I don't understand why gyms don't install them. Again, I"m sure it's probably because they're expensive, but it would be nice. So the only issue I have is the personal training. I believe the trainers are contractors, so it doesn't seem like the staff really cares too much about setting you up with them, as much as they do signing you up for a package and getting your money. I signed up for a special deal to get four training sessions. When I asked about trainers, they pretty much handed me 5 different cards with trainers names and numbers and said here you go. I think it would have been nice to have bio's of what the instructors specialize in, what their schedules looked like, etc. I tried to book one guy I'd seen around the gym and he told me he was full and couldn't accept any more clients. He didn't seem to care to set me up with anyone else either. So I called someone else and finally got a call back a couple weeks later. He was a nice enough guy but completely KILLED me on the first session. I realize trainers are there to push you, but I seriously strained my arms so much under too much weight that I was icing them down for days after and had trouble sleeping because they were throbbing. I've had trainers before, so I know the drill and this has never happened before. I'm all for pushing yourself, but on the first try... this wasn't the right way to go about it. Maybe part of my mistake was saying I wanted Michelle Obama toned arms. Regardless, I didn't see him again and I still haven't used the last 3 of my sessions because they all seem so disingenuous. Aside from the personal training issue, I'm glad this is convenient to where I live, clean and accessible. read more

I joined the gym only a few weeks after they opened, and the low price was pretty awesome I must admit. But today without any planning or premeditation I canceled my membership right after my workout. It had nothing to do with the employees. They have always been so friendly to me and never failed to welcome me in or wish me a nice day. And while the gym is minimalistic in its design, I had no problems with not having super fancy machines or a swimming pool a la LA Fitness. I quit today because the other members are horrifying and make the gym an unsafe place. Two specific incidents (including the one from today) come to mind. First, a drug dealing ex boyfriend harassed and screamed at the woman next to me on the elliptical til he was thrown out. I feared him coming back with a weapon so I left right behind him. Then today I couldn't help but roll my eyes and sigh at the man whose masculinity is so fragile that he grunts and moans like he's giving birth and drops his weights so we all jump. He responded by standing 10 feet away from me, staring at me and complaining about me for about 5-10 agonizing minutes. When he left his post, I went straight to the desk and quit on the spot. I'm very sorry to the employees of Fitness 19. Y'all are wonderful. The other customers are just too rowdy for me. If you are thinking of joining this gym, I say go for it but be aware that there are some serious wackos who will be there with you. read more

I had no problem with the gym but I moved away and tried to call and cancel my membership and they require you to be in person for thar which makes no sense. Especially during a pandemic, it shouldn't require going in if you don't feel comfortable doing so. Also the person who answered the phone said you "maybe can do it by mail" but wasn't sure. Beware. You are required to provide bank account information to join and funds are withdrawn directly from your account automatically each month. In order to quit the gym you are required to go to the gym in person in every situation. I do mean every. I sustained a serious injury and was confined to a nursing home for a month. I obviously could not use the gym and was not cleared to drive. I called Fitness 19 twice and was told "no exceptions" and that "it's my problem." $19 per month is cheap but I am still paying for a service I can't use. In my opinion Fitness 19 is outright stealing from me right now. As far as facilities go, the basics are there but nothing special. The place is always crowded and there isn't enough room or equipment. There's no shower available. If I were only reviewing the gym, I would give it 2 stars. Pay a little more and join the YMCA instead. read more

I've been going here for almost one year. The cost is very affordable, staff is friendly and I feel comfortable with the people who come here. No preening here! No pool, no sauna, no shower just a decent club at an affordable rate. Did I mention their personal trainers are excellent. read more

I really wanted to love this gym. The price is good and it's close enough to my house that it's not a burden to get there. There's lots of cardio equipment and a decent locker room, and I find the staff to be friendly and professional. My problem with this gym is how terribly crowded it always is, and the other customers are belligerent and impolite. Whenever I use the weight machines, I almost always have to wait for most of them. Then, when I'm finally on them, there is usually an older man or two breathing down my neck until I get off. Brrr it gives me the creeps. As a young woman, guys should know to just BACK OFF while I'm working out! The gym itself is also incredibly smelly. I know it's a gym full of people sweating, but sometimes it's hard to breathe because it smells so bad- it makes me wonder if the staff cleans it regularly. Overall, I'll continue going here for the foreseeable future because the price is so good and it's convenient. However, keep your eyes peeled for a less-crowded option. read more

This gym serves our early time in and out needs. Mom and I go use the treadmills and she has an excellent trainer. This gym is a great addition to the Greentree neighbor. The salesman Allen introduced me to his lunch some NuGo Dark chocolate bars and I have been pleased ever since. I joined for a month, $40. read more

Beware when looking for a trainer. There is one trainer in there ALL the time, Brittany. To begin with, she IS NOT certified, but she is dating the manager, Adam, so I think that how she is allowed to train. Not sure how it's legal, though. Have heard 2 reports of her injuring clients so far. Also the way she treats employees and MEMBERS is appalling. I've literally been in a class where she has paused the music to point out a member on the machines and make fun of what she was wearing. Will be in touch with the owner. Have been notified by a few other members that they plan to file complaints with the owner since they cannot go to management. read more

I can't say enough as to how grateful and pleased I am with this gym! I have had my fair share of injuries over the years that have hindered my ability to do many things. After I herniated a disc in my lower back I struggled through PT and low impact exercises. I thought I wouldn't be able to get back to my normal self until signing up with this gym. When I stopped in to sign up and see if a personal trainer would help Adam Gutierrez, Manager/Partner, was very informative, kind, professional and paired me with Ryan Egal, Personal Trainer, as he thought we would work well together. Before meeting Ryan and I exchange a few texts. He wanted to say hello, see what schedule worked best for me, and to find out what limitations I have. I started with 12 sessions, 2 a week for 6 weeks and lost 3lbs, 4% body fat, and gained 2lbs of muscle! The workouts were 30 mins of circuit training and I followed it with 30 mins of cardio. I listened to what Ryan said about the types of food to eat and when, which was anything but bland or boring. I started this journey to fit into my wedding dress and now that the wedding is over and I'm going to schedule more training appointments. Ryan as has a certain type of laid back charisma about him. He has a vast knowledge of all things. He is kind, very professional and made working out fun instead of something I hate! For that I am forever grateful!!! Dirty. Their treadmills have a thick coat of dust on the curly wiring that connects to the headphones jack. Beyond gross. I feel bad for the elderly people who go here to get healthy and instead risk their health by walking on those disgusting beacons of dust!! I said something and it was totally ignored. I started going to the gym in January. I was seeing results and strengthening my body but until I got with a personal trainer, I started sculpting my body. The trainer I had for 5 weeks was the best. Jesse Lesko took into consideration my age and my problem areas. He was so encouraging and would help me to accomplish my goals. if there was an minus, minus, minus on here I would circle/check it. was explained 30 day notice & fee paid upfront stating I wouldn't have to pay for the last month since I paid it up front; I clarified this at least a few times to make sure I wouldn't have any "hidden" expenses. Less than a few months in... gave my PLUS 30 day notice - was charged ANOTHER $59. They said the included it on the end of the contract after 30 days given - NOT explained that way; AGAIN, I even clarified this BEFORE signing on. Despite it all.... I was told, "oh well, too bad - that's just how it works" was stupid enough to buy trainer (2 sessions) - NO SHOW, and they claimed they weren't responsible if their contract trainers didn't show. 'can't be helped' was their excuse for that. NOW we can all know ways they make up for their cheap fee, cheap service, cheap facility, and even cheaper scruples nor do they care to even attempt to make things right. read more
