As an aspiring lightweight boxer from England, I had been training in Mendez Boxing Gym in New York…read more(moved there last year) for the last 10 months or so. My fitness has vastly improved and I have been better off because of it, however, in terms of learning the boxing fundamentals and actual technique, none of the trainers so much as gave me the time of day beyond the generic "hit the bag for 3 rounds, do padwork with x for a half an hour, now shadow box for 3 rounds" stuff you'd find in your run-of-the-mill fitness gym that facades itself as a boxing facility. Nonetheless, despite all the time and dedication I had spent in this gym, I never felt at home, and felt that my efforts and aspirations to AT THE VERY LEAST fight in an amateur setting were neglected, and it felt as if all my efforts and sacrifices were in vain no matter how hard I tried. I train 6-7 days a week and throughout the majority of those days I try and train twice (once in the morning and a second time at night) I had recently returned to England for a 2 week holiday and I had spent time with one of the trainers named Tony, who happened to be a friend of another family friend named Harry Cowap, who had a history of professional boxing in Ireland. Within a matter of a few hours I felt more at home and covered more of the rudimental boxing mechanics at Peacock than I ever did for the last 10 months at the place I was "training" at back over in New York. Nonetheless, even my family who was there to watch me train noticed that everything from my form and performance had greatly improved while training with Tony. I am currently back in New York, I'm not sure when my next trip back home to England will be, and I am currently holed up in New York finishing off uni and training at my old gym (Mendez) for the sake of keeping my fitness, however I will not forget the workout, tutoring and overall kindness that Tony and the gym provided me that day. Since then, my view on Boxing has fundamentally changed for the better and I have a new sense of instilled self-confidence in the sport! Until I return, I say Peacock keep up the damn good work and keep aiming to push and train the next generation of boxers England (or anywhere else) has to offer! Would definitely recommend Tony and Peacock Gym to any and everyone in the London area with a die-hard dream to fight professionally! Proud As A Peacock!

However for the purposes of this review I will impart my more luxurious experience at this tucked treat. The East River Spa is delectable. It's not very big but I think that adds to it's charm. Set out east in Blackwall, its relaxation room over looks the Thames and the O2. I have much to tell you about the relaxation room, so more later. ERS is resident on the first floor of the Radisson Edwardian Hotel where it shares it's home with the hotel gym. As you may have guessed from the name, the Spa has a Eastern theme which is also reflected on the menu of treatments. Kitted out with 5 or 6 treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, an ice fountain, 6 sensation shower which basically means hot and cold showers with different pressure and of course the panoramic relaxation room. I love this room! It has heated stone beds that are curved to the contour of your body. It such a comforting feeling and many a person have been visited by the sandman whilst relaxing. Depending on the treatment you have there is the option of champagne and strawberries but if you don't opt for those extras, a sorbet, tea and or water is offered following every treatment. If that is not enough there is ofter a bowl of fresh fruit, nuts, dried fruits, both still and sparking water and a selection of teas that you are free to help yourself to. Finally there is also a small private steam room which is used for couple and steam based treatments. So for those of you who like a naked steam it might be both booking yourself in and not scaring the general public! It's happened I promise :o| The ladies at the spa a amazing, helpful friendly and some are now my friends. It's actually quite a nice thing to do if you have evening plans at the 02. All robes, slipper, shower gel, shampoo, towels etc are provided so all you need is to pop you cozzie in your handbag and you're set. Forgive me male readers that was a little sexist, if you have a manbag great, if not you might want to been the private steam room!

It was a good experience, the staffs was nice and helpful and the treatment was fantastice. relaxing and aromatic! The treament consist of massage and a full body exfoliation after that! Love it and will highly recommend it to anyone! The place is generally quite pleasant, lots of mosiac tiles eveyrwhere! Not the best interior but good enough. There are often offers available online, I just saw one on Lastminute.com and will probably book it for my next treatment.

I have been a member since its opening in August 2011. It is probably the best gym (for me) in the…read morearea. Arranged over 2 floors with well over 30 running machines, 25 bikes and cross trainers, there is almost always an empty machine. The upstairs weights room is a festival of testosterone, full of locals blasting those quads THATS IT LOUIE, I often hear in the background! Its busy and has 3 studios, but most importantly its CHEAP, and I mean cheap. This does attract all sorts but for me its too convenient and easy to pass on. The first month it was like being in a nightclub, no joke. There were so many people just hanging around it was insane. It has calmed down alot since then and its almost civilised. Recommended. NB Area is wrong and dont know how to fix it. It should be N22.

Easygym claim you can book unlimited classes for a fee thats around £36 per month, yet the booking…read moresystem only allows you to book three classes at any point in time. Bookings open a week before class, and some classes get very busy. This means that as soon as your three favorite classes are finished, you must instantly go online and rebook them or else they fill up super fast. So that means if i regularly book two classes on a monday and one on tuesday, I cannot book anything for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday or Sunday. So actually, this is not unlimited at all. All other gyms I know allow you to book as many other classes as you want, and they simply take measures for no shows. Easygym should do the same rather than try and cheat their customers. If the booking system is open for all at the same time (it is) then its fair game and anyone can book whatever they want. Not a good system and management should allow us to book what we want , and simply take measures for no shows.

Really good mega gym in Canary Wharf. It's not as luxurious as Equinox but it more than makes up…read morefor that gap in the amount of classes you can take. This is the kind of gym that had to exist in a location like this. It reminds me a lot of the crowd that would come into Equinox gyms in SF and NYC: finance sector, up early, all available downtime spent on getting fit and fabulous. Just about every large gym amenity is available for you here but all of it is perhaps one notch lower on the quality bar than some of their high end competitors; the towels are not steamed with eucalyptus, the locker rooms smell of powder instead of fresh bergamont, and there is some visible wear n' tear throughout. But - they've got what feels like over a hundred classes for you to chose from at no extra cost. You can book your spot easily in their app, show up, and get business done. Just about every standard class is available (e.g. yoga, pilates, cycling, weight training, etc.) multiple times a day, seven days a week. In comparison, Equinox typically doesn't even have 1/2 of the options available here (unless things have changed in the last few years) so it's really a strong selling point for this place. It's definitely pricey for membership. But, if you make the most out of it, the cost is absolutely worth it.

This company is a joke. I tried to cancel my membership and was told I owed another full month…read morebecause I was 48 hours "too late." Seriously? That's how they treat paying customers -- by hiding behind fine print and squeezing out extra money. Josh, who handled my case, was rude, cold, and completely unhelpful. No effort to resolve the issue, no understanding -- just threats to send my account to debt collection. Absolutely disgraceful way to treat people. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere. Once they've got your card details, they'll do everything they can to keep charging you. Shameful.

YAY! I'm an addict. I need my daily fix of CrossFit. It's a great thing. I was traveling to London…read morefor work and did prior research on which CrossFit boxes I could visit. Unfortunately, I didn't get as many workouts as I wanted to but Thames was on my list and I'm glad I went. There was a lot of construction going on in and around the Tube so a lot of lines were being periodically shut down and a lot of bus bridges were being run to keep everyone moving. I am terrible with direction especially when I'm in other countries. I was not able to call ahead for my visit to Thames as is customary as well as a courtesy when visiting other boxes. I was about 45 minutes late for the Saturday class because I got hopelessly lost. Jane was one of the first people to greet me. Their box isn't very big but neither is my CrossFIt gym at home. I instantly liked it. I explained that knowing I was late, I really wasn't going to be upset if I couldn't workout. Jane insisted that working out outside of the class time was OK . She was not only willing to stay with me but she ran the 400m warmup with me. I heart CrossFitters! I did a little "WOD-shoppping" looking through past workouts and was able to choose which one to do. I normally don't do that but at that point I had been in the UK for a little over a week without working out, so I felt out of it. After some Clean and Jerks and a ton of burpees I completed the workout. Some of the other ladies stuck around after their class time to cheer me on. It's always nice to have company during a hard workout. I paid the very reasonable drop in price and got a free tee shirt and bought an extra one just for for good measure. After the workout was done, the ladies were kind enough to let me tag a long with them to a local restaurant. We ate a great Paleo meal and I had a really good time! I'm glad I got a chance to hang out with the wonderful people from Thames CrossFit. I would highly recommend CrossFit for anyone who is looking to break out of their boring gym routine. The workouts are physically and mentally challenging while still being fun. And the community is something one could never get at a bigger chain gym. I mean how many times have you been able to travel the world and hang out with strangers and have it feel like family? The people at Thames were great and I look forward to going back.

Exceptional box…read more I've been coming here for about 18 months now and I am 100% a crossfit convert (I talk about it all the time etc). At the basic level, the gym has all the equipment and plenty of it. At a more intangible level, the coaches are epic and the programming is really good. Well thought out and then properly communicated to you so you understand what you're doing and why. I come to the morning sessions and everyone is really friendly. I was VERY intimidated at first but as I got to know everyone it became apparent that there's no judgement and they were all just really supportive. The only drawback of Thames is that it can get too busy sometimes. That said, the coaches have no trouble tweaking the wod so everyone fits in. I would definitely come and do the fundamentals course if you're interested in starting crossfit, or drop in if you're travelling and in the area.
