fitness 500 is a great gym, from the beginner to the IFBB this is the gym to visit. In the summer it can be a bit crowded but I'll always get my workout in. I highly recommend visiting Fitness 500 to any one visiting the cape or a local looking for a gym. read more

As a long time member, Fitness 500 periodically has staffing issues when the employee that opens up the gym at 5:00 am or 6:00 am (weekend) does not show up. This leaves a dozen+ members waiting in the parking lot guessing when the doors will open or if they should go home. And honestly, things happen it's about how a business handles them that tells the story. That is where this review starts... For the 2nd time this month the person opening the gym no showed. Instead of Fitness 500 using this as an opportunity to go above and beyond or wow members they instead get defensive, testy, and full of excuses. The manager, 'L' may be a fine personal trainer but needs to spend more time learning how to speak to the public when such situations arise (this coming from a career executive who cringes when I read 'L's' emails other members share with me). Heaven forbid Fitness 500 would credit dedicated early morning members, but a simple stand at the door the next morning and proactively apologize would go a long way. Send an email, facebook post, or do something PROACTIVELY to acknowledge the frustration instead of waiting on members to contact you upset. Imagine if you wrote an email to Fitness 500 with your frustration and the next time you came in they said grab a drink from the cooler 'on us' for your trouble. THAT is customer service. THAT is wowing your customers, THAT is something memorable that members share with other members instead of people pissed off talking trash to one another about how poor Fitness 500 customer service is. And lastly.. when the owner gets involved, STOP yelling at members. Multiple members have shared this. We WANT Fitness 500 to be successful. WE WANT to have a fun gym community. Fitness 500 has every opportunity to come out shining in a unfortunate situation that seems to be reoccurring. But fails to do so each time and instead puts down members encouraging them to cancel. Terrible female to male ratio! Dirty, unorganized & unfriendly staff. Equipment is often 'out of service, misplaced, old and poor quality. The floor layout has no flow and makes no sense in the placement of machines. The space/lay out is not utilized in a functional manner. Limited leg machines. Disorganized dumbbells/plate racks never in numerical order. Locker rooms are outdated and unsanitary. Inconvenient hours of operation. Overpriced for the limited member amenities. read more

Talk about bait and switch! I was given a "VIP" guest pass for 2. My son and I went to check out the gym and use our card. They wanted to charge us $40! You get the money taken off if you buy a membership. Wow. That's just bad business. I guess they have enough that they just don't care. As I just started working out here last week, I have enjoyed the benefit of referring two other members and received $5 off my monthly membership each. The price is right. The location couldn't be more perfect. Conveniently located right off of Main Street - I suggest you exit the parking lot away from the McDonalds and Burger thing though! They have a wide variety of machines and classes that are all included in your membership. The steam room has been "out of order" for 2 out of the 3 days that I've been there - I don't know what's up with that. Bring your own towel for the shower, the towels provided are small and meant just for wiping your sweat - btw we need more of those. read more

I went in today as a guest with a friend. What a fabulous gym. It's rather urban industrial with a modern feel. There are tons of machines and weights. I started training at 3:45 but by 5, it was packed. I am seriously considering joining. It's not super convenient for me but might be worth it considering the quality of the gym. read more

last september i became concerned that club management appeared to be flouting covid rules by not requiring everyone in the gym to wear a mask. i expressed my concern to the general manager, who reacted defensively. he claimed those without masks were allowed under an exemption to the general mask rule - that anyone who had a helath reason not to wear a mask while exercising vigorously could go maskless.; so long as they were separated by 14 feet from anyone around then. but it struck me as dubious that half the people working out at the time had valid healh reasons to go without masks. therefor i resigned. meanwhile, i had pre-paid in late september my fee ($520.00) for personal training classes planned for october. i requested a full refund, but the general manager has refused to do so. when the dispute was with my credit card company, the gm produced a memvership agreement that spells out onerous termination conditions. however, the forms do not bear my signature nor a date. in place of a signature, someone has written an awkward "d", apparently to represent my first and/or last names. i could not reproduce this odd "d" if i tried to all day. this could well be a case of fraud. i feel this organization lacks integrity and would advise you to avoid it. read more

This is a great gym! They have everything you need to get in shape and stay in shape. Big, clean, and a great staff make every workout enjoyable. They have plenty of parking. Excellent locker rooms. Could use a bigger stretching area. read more

This is a nice fitness gym with a good cardio room, very good trainers, clean and an OK weightlifting room. I bodybuild and get this is not the gym for that but all in all, I had a good workout in a friendly gym. So why the three stars? I came here to work out and not be subjected to the gyms political views. Every other monitor (not an exaggeration) had Fox News on - even on the cardio machines and in the locker room. And that's BS. By the way, I'd write the same review if everything was MSNBC. So, instead of chilling out and training, I found myself annoyed and kinda angry. This is a great gym , excellent equipment, friendly staff. I was anxious to join last July when gyms were allowed to open again during Covid-19, and although there are signs posted that masks should be worn at all times, that is not the case by all members and nobody really enforces that rule & I do feel somewhat uncomfortable to be in there like I'm taking a risk. excercise is important to me in staying healthy & so isn't wearing a mask until there is a vaccine. read more

I been going to Fitness 500 for years an through all that time one of the best thing is the staff/trainers, you always can count with them if you ask for anything, they all very friendly and knowledgeable I highly recommend any trainer in the facility the best part is each trainer has different skills so you definitely request the trainer that fit your needs. Thats that now the gym itself its great lot of equipment lots of space so you can have a great workout I highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in a fitness lifestyle. read more

I like this gym frequently, they are out of towels. They even have a sign - out of towels. So I go to spin, dripping sweat, and have to go home cold, damp, and sticky. I've never heard of a gym running out of towels. Fitness 500 - just buy some more towels. They're not that expensive. Otherwise everything else here is solid. read more

Although I dislike the idea that you're only allowed to join if you make a one year contract, it's still the best gym on Cape Cod.

I have been a member for almost 5 years now. Equipment, classes, and price are well worth it. Staff is very unfriendly and lack customer service skills. Complained about personal trainer Andrew Merritt 3 times for not washing his hands after using the bathroom both urinal and stall. Nothing was done about it. Pretty disgusting. I have been a member here for about 4 months now and have had a less then impressive experience. They do not communicate with members effectively (ie- cancelled classes), every month my billing has been wrong, and their website and other social media accounts are not up to date. The owners have ZERO physical presence in the gym. Everything is directed to the manager who seems to be highly ineffective (in my opinion). They are all talk, no changes. UPDATE 18 months as a member: I emailed the manager about a cancelled class (it was not cancelled in advance- The instructor just didn't show up) and he told me "There are a thousand other gyms out there with treadmills and yoga studios. Go join one." I honestly don't know how he keeps his job. As the "face" of their company, I would be horrified if I was an owner. read more

Visited Cape Cod for a girls weekend. Was looking specifically for a place for a nice workout and a steam room. Several of us bought day passes for $20 hoping to have a nice active and relaxing evening. BIG MISTAKE! The steam room was broken (apparently for a long time as we learned from other members). When we tried to address it with the front desk, we were told we should have checked before buying passes. WHAT?!?! We expected everything to be in working condition. Should we have checked what else was broken before buying passes?!?! No refund (even partial) was issued or approved by the management. They offered a free pass for the following day. Well, why would we want it for the following day? We visit Cape Cod frequently and asked if we could come back another day (hopefully when the steam room is fixed). The answer was NO. And they don't even know when it will be fixed. Didn't sound like they even have plans to fix it. What they advertise as towel service - be aware, they give you a little towel (not a bath towel), so don't think it will be enough for your shower. The service was very unpleasant. Disappointed. Will not recommend this place. read more

I attended this gym and was told they did not offer temporary memberships so I paid $20 for the day. I later called to confirm there was nothing I could purchase for two weeks and was told they do in fact offer a weekly membership but I could not apply the money I paid that same day towards the week long membership. The gym's staff has no idea what they are doing and it's not worth trying to go here as a guest or short term member when there are cheaper options nearby. read more

Nice, big gym with lots of treadmills (which I use mostly). Yoga program is great, as is spinning I hear. The trainers seem to be on their game. I also like the location. read more
