Not only am I stronger than I was as a division 1 college athlete 20 years ago, but I can do things I would never had tried or thought of trying. Because crossfit is a community that moves, I have never felt embarrassed or out of place. I started crossfit because I was bored at a regular gym and needed a fresh approach to my fittness. Everything is fresh and creative here. I knew a couple in their 70's who tried crossfit after years of doing triathlons and they said they recovered quicker and had better times. So crossfit is worth a try for any athlete. I can't say enough about this gym. The coaches are excellent and patient. They focus on doing the movements correctly instead of quickly. The program is challenging no matter what your fittness level. You will get fit. I have a toddler who loves to come and play with friends. The members are friendly and encouraging. It's a great place to try it out or perfect your fittness.

I got two great workouts in and felt right at home in a very welcoming community. The owner, Sara, was very friendly and quick to respond on email. The coach, Jo, was knowledgeable and motivating and put an emphasis on demonstrating movement standards and scaling. One interesting aspect of CMV is that they always have two WODs you can choose from- as a drop-in I definitely appreciated being able to choose the one that worked best for me on those days. The gym is small but well equipped and with a great outdoor space and two workouts they were able to accommodate a large class (over 20) with no problems. If you live in MV and are looking to pick up Crossfit or are an experienced Crossfitter looking to drop in while on vacation I highly recommend giving Crossfit Martha's Vineyard a try!

Like the CrossFit gym I'm used to at home in Oregon, her program attracts very fit people to those who are just starting out or back on a fitness journey. The owner is lovely and tries hard to keep stubborn clients that know it all safe and enjoying a good workout. I can't see the women in the Cape Cod area. Don't frighten me - some do! You can't guide them if they're doing something that could hurt them because these women know it all and want to do it their way. But the trainers here know how to keep them safe! (despite their hardest intentions to kill themselves, because some of them really wanna show that they are fit! really!)
