For some reason, the cleaning lady really enjoys hanging out in the men's locker room and restroom throughout the day, even when nothing needs to be cleaned. Strange how if it was a man doing this in a woman's locker room it would be considered unprofessional, but this location turns a blind eye to it. It's nearly a daily reoccurrence, even if you go different times per day. If you confront her about it, she pretends she doesn't speak English and then says in Spanish that she has sons as if that is to change anything. read more

What a great gym! They have something for everyone: free weights, machines, rope pulleys, turf for training with the sled. All kinds of cardio equipment. Most importantly, the staff is welcoming, friendly and professional. I've been to a lot of gyms in my day and this one is at the top. read more

My fiancé and I joined this gym when we moved here a couple months ago. We are both big weight lifters, so we wanted a fairly large gym with plenty of free weights and machines to choose from. There aren't many gym options around our neighborhood, but of the three we looked at, this gym had by far the most equipment to choose from (and had the added bonus of being only $10 a month). The first thing you notice when you walk in is the awful primary colored paint on the walls. Most of their equipment looks pretty old, however they recently had someone come in to redo all the seats and benches on the machines which made a big difference. The front desk staff is nice. The gym is pretty clean overall. The women's locker room is fine, but my fiancé says the mens locker room is disgusting. Probably the worst/weirdest thing about this gym is the lady who cleans it. It feels like she's always there, which should be a good thing, but instead of being considerate and avoiding people as they work out, she seems to have made it her personal mission to bother and get in as many people's way as possible. She'll stretch the vacuum cord across the whole gym so people have to stop mid-set to untangle themselves. She'll literally vacuum between people's feet when they're lifting, sometimes even mid-set (which, aside from being extremely rude, is also super dangerous). One time in the women's locker room she was banging the mop on the ceiling while I was putting my things away, showering me with dust. My fiancé has complained several times that she walks into the men's locker room with no warning and makes no effort to check if people are in there or peeing (and somehow the men's room is always gross despite how much time she spends in there). All around she makes us super uncomfortable and is the main reason I can't give this place more stars. Aside from that, we're pretty happy with this place, and if they got rid of the cleaning lady, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gym. read more

Been a loyal FC member for years when suddenly they decided to increase my membership rate from $10 a month to $12 a month. While this may not be a lot of money to most it is for us retirees. Contacted customer service for assistance and explained they are currently offering memberships for $10 a month. They refused to give an explanation as to why my rate increased and seemed less than concerned that it appears they are using predatory business practices towards older members since this rate hike is not being applied to all members. Don't waste your time, or maybe form your own opinion. Website is not up to date. Was interested because it stated it had a basketball court. GM called yo confirm my 5 day trial and even told him on the phone only reason why I was interested was because they had a court. Guess what, no more court. Has not been here for a long time. I can't stand being lied to, GM was either not listening or just didn't care. Either way I wasted my time coming here. I can't stand wasting my time, and being misled. Skip this place, many other establishments that will probably be more honest. To the response below, regardless of what your website states my trial stated Indian Trail and I expressed several times to the GM confirming the trial I was interested in the basketball court. So, a couple days ago I came to this gym with a friend to try it out and one of the front desk representatives signed me up for the one week free guest pass that they offer. So, my guest pass is supposed to end on Monday, January 22. I've been here for the past 3-days check in like usual. Everyday I've come I notice the same heavy set African- American women stare me down (maybe the manger). I mean looking me up and down and does not speak to me specially AT ALL. So, today January 18 I come in, I check in with the front desk representative and the young lady says you're good to go. As I walk in and almost get to the locker room I hear someone running behind me at full speed like a dog. OF COURSE, guess who it is? The woman who been looking me up and down since the first day I got the guest pass(heavy set black woman with the red lipstick). She says it's $10, I said no ma'am I'm on the one week free guess pass. She then proceeds to tell me my guest pass was revoked. I proceeded to ask why.. she said it looks like you had a guest pass here in 2018... I said that's funny because I moved here in 2019 so how? I asked her plenty of follow up questions and of course she had no clear answers. She not only was full of crap, but she knew i was aware she was full of it. Then she goes what are you wanting to do today? So I say WORKOUT., I mean it's a gym right. I say all this to say I was going to get a membership on Monday, but not anymore with her looking for me every time I walk in and staring me down like I took something from her. Would give 0-stars if I could. I would only go to this gym if it was the last option, which its not. The extra few miles each day to Workout Anytime is well worth it. I had a negative experience with this gym from the day their pushy salesmen were hitting me with "this is the lowest enrollment fee you'll see at $59" .. 2 days later a sale hit where I could enroll for $0. Yeah the equipment and space is decent. But I've had multiple issues with them charging me random fees. I also don't know how many times I've had to unsubscribed from their spam emails. Lastly, after moving away I called to cancel and was told my payments would halt. Since then, I've been charged 2 months and am now being told I have to pay a 3rd since my cancellation is "just now going through and you have the 30 day cancellation policy." Hope you don't have any issues, which you probably will. But when they come up, you will be greeted with zero professionalism, especially if Brendan answers the phone. Instead of understanding, you'll be met with an argument. Customer service or professionalism is clearly not a portion of their training packet. Don't waste your time or money with this place. Horrible horrible company!!!!!!! After one of their personal trainers advised and sold our son a pre workout with 650mg of caffeine he ended up in the ER twice then had to spend two days in the hospital getting IV fluids for severe dehydration. The doctors and nurses in the ER said they see this alot!! My son repeatedly told them he wanted out of the contract, to which he was told he had 2 months left, after paying the two months left on his contract they still charged him. It is beyond absurd!!! It's hard to find a place for powerlifters to train while on vacation but this location has bumper plates, decent bars, 4 different squat racks, 2 platforms (bring liquid chalk or straps) - and multiple machines for every muscle group. Lots of space and great weekday crowd - everyone from grandma to bodybuilders. This is a gym to work out - not just take a selfie ! Just moved to Indian trail about 3 months ago and this was the first gym I went to. The staff is absolutely amazing so kind and sweet. They gym is extremely clean and such a great environment. There's four reason I gave this gym five stars. 1. I come here to be healthy, not get sick. They have a cleaning crew that's here almost Everytime I come in (midmorning m,w,f). They're wiping down machines, cleaning windows, mopping floors, scrubbing toilets. Props to those people. 2. I am on a married-with-two-kids-and-one-more-en-route. For $20/month plus $10/month for childcare, you can't beat the price. That's $10 for all of my kids. If I come in for 5 hours a week 4 weeks a month that's $10 for 20 hours of childcare. .50c an hour, and the two women in the mornings love my kids and treat them really well. 3. Im a wannabe CrossFitter. So they have this cool area with trx bands, kettle bells and a bunch of fancy AstroTurf. I channel my inner Rich Froning and pump it up. 4. They listen to customer feedback. All of my other comments were tongue-in-cheek, but this one is legit. A few months ago they roped off my Annie Thorisdottir area and I was bummed. But they asked for customer feedback and I let em hear my complaints. Came in one week later and they've updated the AMRAP Central to be limited for just 4.5 hours a week for their class sessions. Really pumped and thankful. That's actually what led me to leave this review. 5. I know I said 4, but a bonus. Maybe it's because I'm in a thankful mood after Easter Sunday, but anyways... My friend is a paying member of this gym, so while in town for a few days, I was hoping to use a guest pass (as most gyms offer those). Well, this gym was so stingy the "most" the clerk could do for me (her words, not mine) were charge me $15 a day or $40 a week to work out. My friend pays $10 a month for a full membership. There is no customer service at this gym, and your membership is all about them, not about what they can offer you and your guests. I'd stay away from gyms like these, as really all they want to do is scam you. I appreciate much more gyms like 24 hour fitness, based on the west coast, that do much more for their members. It's one of the most notable gyms in California, and there's a reason why. read more

First of all the workers are nice never had any problem. Second, Some people they are rule and disrespectful in this gym. Some older guy always walk around with towel on their shoulder and pointing fingers to people who is problem is this gym. seriously, I don't have time for these disrespectful and low educated old guy talk about who's problem in this gym and complain all the time. Having waited 5 months for the reopening of the Gym (my prior post), it finally reopened today. With all the media coverage during these months and all the new standards needing to be implemented prior to gyms reopening, I was expecting significant improvements to sanitizing stations. Quite surprised to find no changes at all. No additional sanitizing stations have been made available. These stations are so far away from the majority of equipment, members use the same few paper towels many times over without obtaining fresh paper towels. Some members resort to using personal towels without any sanitizer. "Machines" have signs concerning before and after use cleaning, but, no signs in the "free weights" area. Of members there today, only a couple were wiping down the weights, dumbbells or bars. Majority never made any attempt to clean free weight equipment. Bottom line, I suggest you bring your own towel and sanitizer for your own protection. Unless the gym adds multiple stations throughout the gym floor, equipment will not be cleaned as often nor as well as needed. Other than that, it's a great gym. Just an FYI. To me, the gym is 5 stars. The ding to 3 stars is solely the result of inadequate sanitizing stations for a space so large...especially in the midst of this pandemic. It was inadequate "before" the virus, which is why I thought it would have surely improved. I have no intention of staying away, but, I'll be bringing in a personal bottle of sanitizer simply for the convenience. read more

Great staff, clean facility, ultimately a great deal for the price. You won't find better. 2015 Edit: Staff has treated my mother and I with such warmth and kindness over these past two years. I am amazed they remember our names and it's such a positive part of our day. They have completely renovated the facility and it offers so much more than before. It is always clean and they have come up to us randomly to make sure we were not intimidated by the new equipment areas. They have actually listened and responded to any suggestion or survey I have filled out which I find to be rare. It is a fantastic deal compared to all other gyms in the area. Unless you go at a peak time it is really quite empty and not at all intimidating for women. I really wish they were open later hours on the weekends, but that's my only complaint! Very disappointed in the customer service. Felt we had a bait and switch situation, was brought up to high management and all they said was "you signed the contract and you have to abide by it". I was, also, very disappointed in the personal training. I was given a list of workouts and all they did was stand over me and count. I could have looked up some exercise online and I do know how to count. This was, also, brought to management's attention and no actions were done to address this or even offer to change to another trainer. I do like the various machines and the basic layout. I hardly ever had to wait to use equipment to open up. I have to say, though, not many people wipe down machine when they are done. This even applies to the trainers. Gross! Another reviewer stated they went to the other gym in the close vicinity, so did we. It is a lot cheaper with more benefits, too. read more

I can't say I've had any issues with surprise Fees. However there are a couple of things that shouldn't be in this gym. The basketball court. REALLY? I can hear that obnoxious ball through my headphones. Super distracting. Salesman are kinda pushy but eh it's their job who cares lol. What really annoys me are the "trainers" Trainers my a**. Heck im not even certified and I bet 2 grand I can whip those trainers and staff into shape and put 50-70 pounds on their lifts! Now the good stuff. Equipment is clean, works, well built. Good racks, decent enough bars. Nice facilities and showers The drink machine or dispensary whatever is great. Honestly it's the trainers and basket ball court that kills me. I am giving it two stars but only because the equipment was pretty well maintained and in good working order. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend this place. They sell you on the "no long term commitment" but I would think a year long contract is fairly long term. You better be sure which plan you would like because you will be told you can't change it until your contract is up. THEN when you do try to change it, even though you are no longer under contract, they will try to charge you $50. to change to the lower priced plan. Exactly how do you charge me for changing a contract that is no longer in effect?? Customer service, phone and email, is almost non existent! I cancelled with them and will join another gym but only after they took so long to reply to me that they then got another month's dues out of me. read more

I have called 4-5 times just for a question and they always say someone will call you shortly. Not one time has anyone called back. Its always a manager they leave the message for. I also went to a new class they told me to come try and there was no class. They said it was cancelled and didn't bother to call. When you call and ask why they do not call back and ask to speak with a manager, the person says I am the manager and I can not answer your questions. Indian Trail and Ballantyne are awful locations. I've been a member of this gym since it opened (2-1/2 years). While it is super inexpensive, you get what you pay for and it is pretty bad. I stayed b/c it is 2 minutes from my house but I am cancelling now as it's gotten so miserable. The customer service is atrocious. NO ONE cleans their machines or weights after they use them and the gym does not provide towels only paper towels which are truly rolls of actual paper (which no one uses). Now that there are other options around Indian Trail, trust me, go somewhere else. Most gyms will give you a free trial pass, try several until you find one you like. read more

This facility uses contracts regardless of what they claim. After being a member for 1 year and a few months, I was only using the gym occasionally. I decided to freeze my account, they didn't actually freeze it and continued to charge me. I Then called the Indian Trail location I was attending, they claimed it was out of their control and I should talk to ABC Financial that does their accounting. I called ABC and they had no record of freezing account. To cancel my membership I had to call back the local facility and pay them $100 to cancel. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The facility wasn't bad, but overcrowded at times. Dealing with the financial company was a nightmare. read more

I've been a member of this gym for years and quite frankly it's the best value for your money out there. I recently made the mistake of joining another gym to try out one of their Bootcamp classes and got sold a bill of goods not to mention 3 months of membership dues. Shame on me for not cancelling sooner. I have never had a gym membership in my life until recently when I joined Fitness Connection. At 65 years of age, I only wish I had joined sooner! The members are young and old and in between, which is nice. The personnel are friendly and helpful. I am working with a trainer who is personable, very considerate and yet helps me to push through while respecting my limitations.He has helped me to set goals and then stay on course to meet them. I was promised everything that was not a possibility when it came to training sessions and scheduling of my sessions. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. We've had multiple issues with the Indian trail location. We've been charged duplicate accounts in the same month and never received our money back. The website with daycare hours did not reflect correctly on the website as to what is actually happening real time. After multiple issues I asked to speak to a manager and gave my phone number to employees on 3 separate occasions who claimed a manager would reach out and never did. I was given a phone number for corporate to whom I reached out to and was given an email- and guess what? The email was incorrect and my email was sent back. I called corporate again, another email was given and wasn't a correct email. I never received money or spoke with anyone. I decided to move forward and just let it be, which was a mistake. My membership was supposed to include a guest each time I come and my husband and I had been bringing guests for as long as I can remember and today all of a sudden I'm no longer "VIP" and can't bring a guest. No explanation, no attempt to make things right, simply sucks for you that someone lied to you. Memberships are now canceled for my husband and I and the manager and staff could care less.
