My fav class is Boxercise on Mondays with Coach Kamal. It is not only a rigorous workout but it's helped me with coordination, confidence and dealing with stress. I've seen so many women empowered by Kamal's training and the men too. If you're anywhere central, this is the perfect way to beat (up) the Monday blues! This is the gym that I keep returning to. Very disappointed, I was new to the gym, and I have been with them for 15 days. I have never been in the gym, and I decided to let it go because it was not what I wanted and I was also feeling very sick. That's one of the reasons I have never been in one. I found out that I need to pay a fee to leave the gym, but I did not expect to be told that I need to pay 59 pounds. What for? In the time when I was checking the app, I found that they wanted to overcharge me (even if I didn't find it correctly to even charge me the actual amount of membership, which is 39 pounds). I have paid it, but they have not told me what they are doing or what my options are in case I leave before six months. After I paid the membership fee to leave, it was straight away removed, not even letting me use the gym until the end of the membership! What a shame, and shame on them, as they want to still, and I am sure I am not the only person out there who has been tricked, so just be aware that they charge anything without even telling you from the beginning what the situation is. very frustrating the way they manipulate the situation in their favour and how I paid for something that I have never used. Worst gym I've been to in my life. I am a jock-type of person and the level of meathead waltzing around this place is astounding. Constantly clamouring over benches and there are 8+... should speak to how rammed this place gets. The gym is also shaped like a barbell, where the middle is extremely narrow. If I wanted to superset a dumbell press with pullups for instance, I would have to finish the DB press then run to the other side of the gym to get pullups in. Invariably, someone would be on the bench, and if it was a trainer and his/her client, I was bound to catch an earful. Staff think they're hot shit. Either get off the roids or do something that isn't fitness related. Will NEVER come back. Also overpriced. Paid 160 quid for a month. What an absolute joke. read more

I used to work in the building, so I've spent every working day for the past 18 months coming here. It's like a second home; a second home where I go to lift heavy things and run like a bat out of hell. The facilities are pretty good, it's usually pretty clean. It can get very busy in there, so sometimes getting the machine you want is a struggle. It's also very expensive. My main gripe with this place is the personal trainers. The instructors are all very pleasant and amiable, but the personal trainers are mostly rude and grumpy. I'll never forget the time I asked one of them for advice on how to lose weight from around my hip area. 'Not eating so much' was his answer. I had chocolate afterwards to cheer me up. read more

This is actually a pretty good gym - although I suppose it should be for the price I pay per month. It is basically a large part of the basement of this amazing building - apparently the second biggest Fitness First in the world, a claim to fame I can well believe as it is pretty expansive. The usual machines are there and I have never felt it to be overcrowded - although that may be because I tend to go at off-peak times. The jewel in the crown has to be the pool and poolside amenities though. It sits right in the centre of the whole gym and is purposely kept dark and moody. The sauna and steam room are also found here and they are damn good too, clean, spacious and keep/replenish the heat really quickly, which has been a bit of a complaint of mine in other gyms I've been a member of in the past. I haven't tried the classes yet, probably still a little scared to make a complete fool of myself, but the studio rooms look good and I may well be tempted in the not too distant future. Something else that surprised me, in a good way, was that the drinks in the fridges at reception seem to be subsidised as they are cheaper than almost anywhere else, even Tesco! read more

This is a solid gym I would recommend to any local or visitor. I've been using FF Baker Street every day for a week now during a 4-week visit to London. I'm working in the building it shares so it's very convenient. What I like about FF Baker Street: - The staff is very friendly and helpful. On my first day, someone insisted on showing me around quickly even though I'd already paid for my full stay so they weren't trying to sell me anything. They always greet with a smile. - At least in the early morning (7-8am), there is plenty of equipment. I use weights, ellipticals, bikes, and a "core workout area" and I never have to wait more than a minute or two, if at all. - The other members are pleasant and respectful - a mix of all ages. - The showers have ample lockers, a place to iron a shirt, hair dryers (wish I needed one - lost too much hair :( ). - Some of the aerobic machines have TVs to help distract me from what I'm doing. Why not 5 stars? - The gym is pretty warm/hot and especially in the shower room. Even after waiting several minutes, it's difficult to stop sweating after a shower because they keep it so hot and humid. A bit more air conditioning would be nice. - They play the same music loop every morning and it's only a 25-30 minute loop so I seem to hear the same songs twice a day. - Only one towel before you have to pay an extra 1£. So I have to bring my own towel for wiping my sweat off during my work out so I can have a clean towel for my shower. Overall - a really good facility and I feel lucky it's in the same building as my company's office. Kudos to the staff as well. I use it happily and will use it again when I come through London. read more

This is a great gym. When I first joined a couple years ago it was a bit rundown but they have continually made improvements which justify the price. They are currently refurbing the showers and having had a sneak peak I can say that these are going to be really good. Think 4/5 star hotel quality. This was the only area where the gym was lacking for me. The equipment itself is great the free weights area is large along with the selection of weghts. Theres a hanging boxing bag, 1 studio for classes and a spinning studio. I have only taken a few spinning classes but each time the instructors led a great class and were demanding but also accommodating to beginners. There's loads of rowers, cross trainers,treadmills and bike machines and 2 stair climbers. All of hese apart from the rowers come with tv screens with an audio jack for your headphones. The swimming pool is a real draw especially with the weather being as is. You've got 4 lanes and I hardly have to wait for a space to open up and if I do theres a steam room and sauna to pass the time. The sauna is a bit of a contentious issue among the evening crowd as sometimes they switch it off early! (You can tell there is a lack of drama in my life). They run freestyle sessions in the freestyle area every evening which is good if you dont want to fork out for personal training sessions. Where a instructor will lead a session for 15-20 mins. Usually only a a few people show up. It gets busy in the weekday evening 6-8 but the place is so big it never feels really crowded. Overall I love it. Join up. read more

Great club. Equipment is new and they are always renovating. Nice younger crowd and large underground facilities. its popular so it gets busy at times and since it underground there is no natural light. In a gym you shoudl be working hard not getting a tan. I tried to fitness first as a non-member. The girl at reception told me I could just come and try the pool with a free pass. When I arrived the girls manager then told me I needed to leave something of value at reception in case there was a fire. I didn't have any ID but offered a credit card. He told me they didn't accept credit cards but that a £20 note would be fine instead. When I questioned how leaving a £20 was linked to safety (and that surely the log book covered this), the reception manager got angry. Eventually they agreed to take my credit card which they then couldn't find when it came to leave. Overall the pool was quite nice (with the exception of kids swimming lessons and parents sitting around the pool on chairs watching which seemed odd for a premium club in the evening). The girls at reception did their best but the Manager was exceptionally aggressive and rude. read more

This place is pretty good really. The best bit is the swimming pool, which being centrally located, looks out onto the rest of the gym and so there is something to look at while you swim, other than a blank wall. Its also has nice lounge chairs next to it, good for a spot of contemplation or a chat with friends. The showers are not as good as I expected them to be, other cheaper fitness first branches have much better ones, but work fine with medium water pressure, and at least are not operated by pushing a button. If you go outside of key peak times, then there's usually no problem at all getting a whole lane in the pool to yourself. Staff on the reception are very good from what I've experienced, helpful if you need to pass messages on to other gym users, or enquire about other services. read more

One of the best gyms in London, apart from some pricey City places. It's clean and quite new, not overcrowded, has a decent swimming pool, a sauna and a steam room. There could be more classes but there are quite a few. Only trick: not many toiletries - just the towel from the front desk and shampoo - but who cares (guy writing :-) read more

Good gym, not usually overcrowded, you can manage a decent workout. Good equipment, still in good shape too as the gym only opened a few years ago. Showers/change rooms quite clean. Only thing I would change is maybe more staff interaction. They are usually just standing around chatting at the PT desk, but then again, you wouldnt get that interaction at any other gym so not a big deal. I would recommend this gym. read more
