And, earthbar app does not work here either, so no points for smoothies etc* This is one of the nicest locations I've been to. Megan (AGM) was very kind and granted me access. The gym itself has tons of equipment, machines incorporate free weight aspect to it, tons of great treadmills, open layout, nice ceiling, an airport lounge-esque work-chill area. Bathrooms are in line with the nicer SF locations, steaming available. Limited hyperice is a drawback, also expected newer rowing machines but overall, would recommend the upgrade, some improvements can be made, but the good is very good. I was a member in Feb 2020, after joining for 6 days and going to a few classes , I decided to try the Spin class on the 6th day. There was no proper orientation for new members and I ended up injuring for ankle as my right foot got stuck in the peddle. It has been 9 months since my accident and my ankle never recovered and am still suffering. Having been contacting the management when the accident happened, I tried to negotiate for my initial membership fee be returned since I was only a member for 6 days, not only were they unsympathetic of my injury and took no responsibility in the defect of their machine which caused my injury, the management cancelled my membership prematurely without refunding me. Shame on the management as the overall team is very friendly and competent gym instructors. read more

A lot of the lower-star reviews seem to be about people coming from out of town and being denied entry due to Equinox's confusing membership policies, and I wouldn't blame this particular Equinox for this issue. I checked with the front desk about that, and if you're coming from the United States, you need a "Destination Membership", which gets you into basically every Equinox around the world (except some rare "E clubs"; yeah, confusing right??). If you have a lower-tier "All-Access" membership, you don't get in without paying a £40 fee as other reviewers have noted. By the way, All-Access also doesn't include the Destination locations in the US (again, confusing right? But not this location's fault, per se). So, honestly, your best bet is to call/email this location and ask. This location only comprises one floor of a medium-size office building, so it's one of the smallest Equinox's I've seen and I live in New York City. There's a boxing gym, group workout gym, a pilates studio, and perhaps some other stuff that I didn't notice. General gym area has a good range of equipment and makes efficient use of the space without getting too crowded. Can't speak for how crowded it gets with people because I popped in a holiday weekend. I live in Venice California but come to London from time to time and am always grateful for this gym. Yes, I have to modify my membership to destination which is easily done through app concierge. The gym is very clean, everything you would expect from an equinox. It has a friendly staff, a good vibe and high end equipment. It's right next to Whole Foods and others shops. I get airbnbs near here just so I can enjoy an extra croissant or two :) grateful for this spot for my fitness journey! read more

This club has so much to offer but falls at customer service and failing to listen to long-term members. Internal staff disputes, poor equipment (RPM bikes parts ling overdue), steam room closed for days, repairs meaning open wires in ceiling in changing rooms, and no RPM instructor in place at times, means that this club receIves a low review until things are resolved. read more

This location puts San Francisco Equinox Sport Club to shame and it cost nearly the same! Yes, it is very expensive, but if you workout regularly, it is worth it. If you're an all-access member in the States, your membership is not valid here because this is a "destination" club. It'll cost around £40 a day, which is beyond outrageous and borderline robbery. If you're an active member here, it's worth it. Very clean, machines are plentiful, everything is in working order, and not as crowded. I don't notice any snootiness others have mentioned, but then again I keep to myself. read more

This location is Brilliant. It's clean, has a great Playlist, a nice mix of classes and is laid out in a very intelligent, social way. Those who complain about the price are those who likely shouldn't be going here in the first place. In the States, this is the price you pay for a premium, beautiful product. London is fortunate to have such a new, stellar location of Equinox. And to those complaining about an added fee to train here... Yes, if you're not an executive destination member, there's an add on fee. That's life. Just pony up to a higher tier at your home club to avoid these things when you travel. read more

This specific location is very nice - I would say better than the majority in the US. Like all equinox locations, it is very clean and staff generally very friendly. There was also a nice clientele at the gym every time I was there. The equipment selection was better than most US equinox locations, but still below what you would find in most gyms. One of the nice things about Equinox is their multiple locations, as life in a city does not take place in just one area. So having only one Equinox in London is a huge drawback. Working in the Canary Warf district, it was quite inconvenient to get to this location. Also, agree the equinox corporate policy is silly - if anything, re-name the 'All-Access' membership. How can 'All-Access' not mean 'All-Access.' read more

After being told I could use this gym after making a specific inquiry the previous week to the staff of a NY City equinox regarding my all access membership I was turned away, suitcase in hand after flying across the pond and looking forward to a post flight workout. I was offered a rate of forty pounds to use this mysterious facility and I declined, especially as they didnt even have hot water at the time due to a building issue. I went out of my way after a trans oceanic flight to start my visit to london using what I expected to be a premier facility. I presume I would have been disappointed based on their treatment of me and the misinformation that this chain has given me over the years. Re thinking my membership seriously after 13 years. After having been to an Equinox in New York, I was totally excited to have an Equinox gym open here. I've heard it was pricey, and my friend state side was paying $150 a month or so. Much to my chagrin, as a founding member I was already paying £150 a month. Can't imagine what regular folks will have to pay when it opens (£180 - is what the going rate is now)... Oh well, no skin off my back I guess since I can cancel my membership within the first five days of the club opening. Went in twice in the first five days. I've gotta say, compared to anything else in London (Virgin Active, Third Space included), this is nice - but that's also because it's brand spanking new. But, yes, because they've decided to locate themselves in Kensington, right below the Kensington Roof Gardens, it's just one floor, no "outdoor space", no pool etc. Changing rooms were very nice, with possibly the nicest gym towels in the industry. Yes, the Khiel's products are a nice touch, but I never end up really showering at the gym (because I bike to work in Canary Wharf). And besides, I already use Khiel's like my Dad owns the company. Locale's "great" if you're anywhere on the circle line / district line, but from my schnazzy pad in central Soho, getting here was a bit of a chore. A half hour journey, by bike, by train or by fast foot (i.e. run). Not fun. All in all, yes, my cruddy little West India Quay LA Fitness may not be as schnazzy or as new as the Equinox in High Street Ken, but at least I do frequent it more and it provides more of a work out for me than Equinox and doesn't burn hole in my pocket. read more

Not even sure where to begin with this gym. I'm so sad to say that I have had also the same experience that other reviewers have had about this Equinox. Here I am a loyal member for years and years, I have the highest membership you can get, there's maybe two gyms in all the world that I can't go to, Irvine, Printing House and something else. Before I came to London I remember asking at my home club in the US that my membership was about in London and I was told yes. I even called the club on a previous trip here just to doublecheck that I was able to work out there and all was OK and again I was told yes. But then guess what. As someone who organizes my very busy work and travel schedule around locations in cities with Equinox, I plan a three-week business trip in London arrive at Equinoz only to find out that, guess what, no you can't work out here unless you want to pay 40 pounds a day or upgrade your membership to pay even more. I am such a loyal member of Equinox and love it so much, that upon hearing this news, I felt like a friend had lied to me, I felt quite betrayed. I did end up upgrading my membership, however. I'm not sure I agree that the people were snobby, in fact I found the staff quite amazing. The club itself, was fantastic. It's beautifulully equipped as you would want it, aesthetics to die for, great juice bar and location. The managers, everyone, couldn't have been more helpful. It just turns out that policy is policy and there is no flexibility on the policy. I guess it's a corporate issue with Equinox on the various policies. I can't even express my annoyance at the policy for this club. 40 pounds a day is a little extreme. I did work out there every day, and you know what, yes, it was busy, but I've seen worse. I would suggest a more nominal fee per day that will be a bit more digestible like 20 pounds a day for all-access members as an example. Or at least have some options and alternatives for your all access members, that are reflective of the lifestyle of your members, I.e., people who travel a lot. I would love to give this club a five-star rating, because it deserves it. But the policy for all-access members really needs to be addressed. If they were other Equinox clubs in London from which to choose, that would be one thing, but there are not. read more

This gym just works. I really enjoy it. Everyone is looking for something particular in a gym, but for me Equinox's offering is spot on. If they reached inside my mind and designed a place totally around me, this would be it. It is a big investment, but great service costs money and the location could not be better. Beyond being an inspiring, comfortable space to sweat in, the facility's layout, equipment, and amenities are thoughtfully done. The place has good energy and mercilessly devoid of annoyingly preening, ego-fueled maniacs I've experienced in other gyms. But honestly it's Equinox's staff that makes difference. From the maintenance staff to the personal trainers they are uniformly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The place overflows with people who take holistic fitness seriously and enjoy sharing that passion with others. On numerous occasions a personal trainer has assisted me, offered a suggestion or given some piece of help that make my workout better without making me feel like an idiot. I like that. And, by the way, the facilities are extremely clean. They are obviously obsessive about keeping the floors and equipment clean. And we all know that a great workout can be ruined by a disgusting locker room. This is not the case here. You could probably eat on the floor. All in all, I'm happy with my decision to invest my fitness dollar there. read more

I would love to review the facility, but I can't. I can't because even though I called twice this morning to confirm that I could buy a day pass for £40, when I arrived I was told I could only buy a day pass if I was a current member in NY or was the guest of a member. Not an unreasonable policy. Just one you might consider sharing before a potential customer took a cab to your club. So this review is of the giant of intellect who told me I could buy a day pass when the front desk staff said 'we don't sell day passes, this is a private club'. It is also a review of the charming and helpful manager who refused to make an exception even though all of the gyms in the area were closing in 90 minutes, and who didn't know the names of any other facilities in the area. All of the negative reviews below, which I wrote off based on my excellent experience with equinox in NY, are clearly true. read more

Yesterday I attended Equinox to have a massage treatment. Once I got into the building a lady asked me if I needed any help and I told her I was looking for Equinox Gym. She then ushered me into the elevator and informed me it was on the 5th floor. When I got there, the receptionists (or Greet team as their known as) welcomed me and asked if I was a member. I informed them that I had a massage appointment with Chris. One of them then asked me to follow them to the spa. Whoa, was all I could say when we got to the gym area. It was massive. I think it's the biggest gym I have ever seen. In the spa Chris welcomed me and asked me to fill the consultation sheet out, then another spa staff member showed me to the ladies changing room and gave me a robe, and a pair of slippers to change into. In the treatment room I told Chris my concerns and he said he would focus more time on those areas with Chinese massage. The techniques were not pleasuring feather strokes, but were medicinal, very effective and it was just what my body needed. My neck and lower back felt brilliant after the massage and had a nice warm feeling from the Chinese techniques he used, which he learned in the UK and China to my suprise. Apparently he lived there for 1.5 years and has over a decade of experience in massage therapy. With techniques better than most western style therapy (including the all American favourite "Deep Tissue" Chris's fusion style, is undoubtedly one of the best treatments I have ever experienced on an international scale, say no more. read more

In my experience, the service in Equinox is not aligned with their promises. My perception is that members have a very perishable value, Equinox target is new members. I expected one level of service and I found out that the club is in a different level. A few example of inconsistency: 1. The female STEAM ROOM is OUT OF ORDER without member notifications for already 10 days. 2. Gift card restrictions: Restrictions are not informed in advance, as result gift cards could become completely worthless. 3.Managerial position: Your requests could be overlooked. I used to really like training at equinox, but have the same issue with the staff that other reviewers had highlighted. I used one of my guest passes to bring a friend, so that we could have a fun workout together. I got told off by a manager because "you're not allowed to bring outside trainers into the club". Which obviously makes sense as a rule, but the guy was my friend not an outside trainer; and all he was going to get told off was laughing at my push ups I explained that he was my guest / friend and we were working out together, and I thought everything was fine / we'd cleared up any misunderstanding, but as soon as I left I got an email saying that he'd been banned from the club. This seems like the same weird behaviour another reviewer mentioned where his wife got kicked for working out with a friend. Given that part of the reason I like going to the gym is to train with friends (not be trained by them - there's an important distinction) I guess I won't be going to this gym anymore ... read more

I have been a loyal equinox member for 3 years. I have paid month after month $190. I have a membership that allows me to use almost any equinox in the world, except for maybe 3. I had a really great membership advisor 3 years ago who signed me up. I asked him if he could please get me a week pass to the London Equinox as I would only be there a week and didn't want to pay extra to add it to my membership. To his surprise, they CLOSED the guest passes to members and said I would have to pay daily rates. To me this is ridiculous. I have been a very loyal customer for years, I have a membership that is just below the top tier, and I would only need the gym for a week. This gym gets 0 stars for pure snobbery. If someone is a loyal customer and a fellow membership advisor emails you for a favor you need to accommodate that person. It's just a week and you just COMPLETELY turned off a loyal customer. read more

A £40 pound fee for all access members is ridiculous. I went here one day and while the facilities are nice they are in no way shape or form worth an outrageous fee when you're and existing member. Also what is the bloody point of destination membership if there's only one gym in the world that it applies to. Ended up working out at crossfit boxes for the other three days and had a better time and experience for a fraction of the price. This Equinox puts all of the other Equinox clubs to shame. I'm allowed to say that because even though it is in the newest club, with regular upgrades of equipment, etc., there's no reason even the oldest clubs back in the US can't look like this. This gym is AMAZING. It smells like mint and lemon, which is the scent that wafts off the damp towels provided (in a refrigerator, no less). Everything is beautifully designed and clean. The machines are top of the market; when you look out the window, you can see the art deco iron bars. My only complaints are that the music was a little too loud - it was hard to listen to my headphones - and the yoga room too warm. I mean, besides the £180 price tag, which is £160 too much for me (I got a one-day free pass). read more

I joned Equinox on the week of opening and after being sold the dream of hundreds of classes, 11 different types of Yoga and 20 gym staff that will be in hand to help me. I have since left the club due to the class provision being somewhat short of where the club told me it would be, the yoga classes being the same style under a different name and no gym staff on the gym floor just Personal Trainers who I would have to pay for. I am still waiting for a refund from the General Manager Rob after 2 months and have been told twice that the club system doesn't have record of my payment. I have had to send screen shots of my bank account twice to confirm the payment had gone out....still no refund. My advice is concentrate on service and less on selling the dream through inflated marketing. read more

I wouldn't recommend attending this gym as a guest or signing up as a member. I found out about Equinox after passing by their Mnhatten gym next to the Sephora store. Cutting a long story short after moving to London I decided to join my nearest gym which happens to be Equinox. They charge almost £200 per month which I found to be very high but thought I would give it a try. The lady told me if i signed up two years earlier I would be paying much less. Most of the staff are constantly trying to sell you PT sessions for £100 per hour! Usually to be charging premium pricing there should be a USP that separates them for the competition in London. All the lady could point out was the scented towels (which I never used) Also the UK location offers zero swimming pool. I was also disappointed once I signed up because I did not receive my refund 'INITIATION FEE' and my girlfriend who signed up 3 weeks later was told she didn't even have to pay any fee. The gym is totally over priced and for less money you can join Virgin which has better facilities and lovely staff. My advice would be for Equinox to revise the extortionate rates they are charging customers especially with so many bad reviews on the internet . Ladies If you are looking for a fab gym I would go to Virgin and not be mislead by Equinox's clever branding online. It is totally smoky mirrors. read more

Not to be overly negative, but real talk, don't waste your money here. It's over priced and the staff is super unwelcoming. I've been a member at the Original location for 4 years. I walked in and was treated like a second class citizen. I was hoping to train while in London and had questions for how to do so, and the staff was super short and then the manager wouldn't even come out to meet me. I recently moved to London from the US. Equinox is a strong brand in the US and when I arrived here I was excited to find this gym available. After a few months of membership, I am happy with the equipment, floor layout, and demeanor of the staff. The towels and products are good and the locker room is clean. I am disappointed with the following: The women's steam room NEVER works and the shower temperature switches from hot to cold every other second throughout the duration of the shower (having a secondary water heater will fix this). OPEN ASK TO THE MANAGEMENT: PLEASE FIX THE STEAM ROOM AND THE SHOWER WATER TEMPERATURE ISSUE. I understand that there are growing pains associated with international expansion (different standards of vendors, etc.), but it has been a few months. Time to get on par with the level of service Equinox delivers in the US....especially given the steep monthly rate. read more

This is a wonderful gym - probably the best in London. It brings a US-type fitness experience (eg you actually sweat) to London - with an incomparable cleanliness, top-notch instructors, and great class timetable. I hated my old gym (David Lloyd in Kensington) which was poorly lit and poorly maintained. Now, I love working out again. It's expensive, sure - but getting and staying in shape? Dear Equinox members, if your membership is not destination, you're not getting in. Except for a 40 pounds little fee that I didn't have to pay. With that being said, I decided to visit this location last night around 9 coming from the US. It's well equipped, more machine than free weight oriented and just as clean as the others. Around 9:55 I went to the locker room and decided to take a shower, but guess what, the cleaning guy told me that they close the showers at 10 and no more showering for today because he needed to leave. Another member walked in through to the shower and the cleaning guy started to yell that the showers were closed and he wasn't cleaning after him and swearing in some language. I shamefully changed back from a towel to gym clothes after a failed bath attempt and proceeded to leave a veeery empty gym, not one single soul at 10:05. Maybe this is a subsidiary or something but you're allowed to shower in the US a bit after they close the gym area or probably this is the way it should be? read more

It is unfortunate they have decided to make this a "destination gym." It is understandable that they need to charge more for a gym given the cost of London. I even understand charging a surcharge to prevent people from gaming the system. Well, it seems that my sad experience here has brought me to write my first yelp review! After making an inquiry at my home gym in the States, they told me I'd be able to use the London gym. That is apparently not the case, and they charge you £40 to use the facility. I found this absurd, given what I pay monthly for an all-access membership and given the (false) information with which I was provided prior to coming here. Granted that's no one's fault at the gym itself in London, but better communication and information between gyms would be great. People at the desk were nice and conveyed that they get this confusion and predicament from American members often. So, after reluctantly getting cash, I was dismayed at how ever-so-not-special this facility is for £40 a day. The equipment is mostly outdated for Equinox standards, the music is deafening, and the locker room has no ventilation so I'd be sure to leave the gym sweatier and dirtier after a shower than when I was working out!! Overall a bit disappointed. Given that it is significantly more expensive than the US clubs I expected it to be at least as nice. Unfortunately its not as nice as the equinox gym's I've used in the US. No outdoor space. Doesn't have quite the same coolness factor. Not totally ready to open. MyEQ not working for UK customers, etc. Still a nice clean gym with very nice equipment, and friendly staff. well- you really have got to love these guys, I joined it on pre sale, and was really excited for the open, despite the short lecture when signing about how we in the UK are all so unfit, and how they were coming here to change fitness for us. After getting a few emails from them asking me what my goals are, and then assigning me to a trainer whose specialities were contrary to what I asked for, I started to regret the decision. Not to mention being hugely disappointed with the class timetable, where on earth did the 100 other classes I was promised go? This is by far the best gym in the US. Management really cares about making the members happy. It is always spotless, with maintenance workers always cleaning. This is a high end gym with high end trainers. Even the products are amazing-Kiehls products in the lockers rooms, no need to bring shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, or face lotion. I Definitely haven't been to a better gym and I have been to many. read more
