Have taken 3 (challenging) classes here and I am a fan…read more I was on the fence after my initial arrival at the first class because they clearly wrote on their website 10 minutes early for instruction and orientation but when I arrived early the teacher had also just arrived and I think my early arrival left her unsettled. Anyway, it wasn't my first time on a reformer machine so I had that advantage and the quick reintroduction was sufficient. I also knew from the website to bring grip socks, a typical requirement at Pilates studios but don't forget. They sell them if you do for $18. The high intensity, slow tempo strength training description hits the nail on the head. That is highly accurate. It feels so good on the body but yields muscle failure and quivering legs. It is so intense. As is typical post Pilates, I have soreness in parts of my body I didn't realize existed. Currently it's my flanks, the sides of my stomach. I love it. I love that it's in the canyon, easily accessible and intimate. If you want to go, book early. There are only 7 slots per class. It's an intimate space and setting that offers little distraction during the workout. Pilates perfection served up. Awen Pilates gets the honor of 700th Yelp review!

Came here debating on upgrading my Equinox membership to include the Destination Locations with…read morePacific Palisades really being the Prized Location among the others like the Sports Club or Century City. First the negatives: The Parking isn't terrible but it will slow you down and take up your "time limit" of 2.5 hrs, You have to drive slooooow. The spaces are all compact, I drive a Model Y and it was tight in the curves to go between floors and the parking spaces. There is only one elevator but I believe you can access the parking levels by taking the stairs or entering from different floors. The water pressure is very weak in the water fountains and the showers. I saw some complaints about accessing different rooms but it wasn't bad at all it's like 20 feet and if it's raining you shouldn't really notice if you're already wet from sweat. If you are afraid of water then not sure what to tell you, you may want to spend your membership money on help with that. Equinox is notorious for stairs and although there are no stairs to go UP to the locker rooms like other locations there are stairs that go up to go inside the gym. Once inside the stairs either go down into the locker rooms or up between levels. You're at the gym, the stairs shouldn't be an issue for you, embrace the stairs, enjoy the stairs. Lastly it's a new gym and 2 of the cold plunges weren't working and the parking validation didn't work but was easily able to press a button, speak and view a live person on the screen and be granted access to leave. The positives: The Views are amazing, ease of access to be in or out of the gym if you wanted to take a walk in between sets to get some Sun. The equipment is all new and the gym is spotless. The crew were everywhere cleaning and making sure everything was stocked and on working order. The bathrooms were very nice but had limited stalls which wasn't a problem for me but could be an issue at some point. The showers, steam room and co-ed Sauna were dope. My conclusion, I'm upgrading my Membership and enjoying this location and all others. If you can afford it, I highly recommend it.

I recently made my way out to the newest Equinox location in Southern California because on their…read morewebsite it said this location opened on 12/20/24. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the front desk staff said they ran into some code issues that they were still working out with the city. However, they were nice enough to let me tour the club and here are my impressions. First off, being that will be a brand new club this would take over as the nicest Equinox location in Southern California. The club is spread out over 3 floors. You enter on the 2nd floor with direct access from the parking garage. More on that later. The aesthetics are very much in line with the current Equinox club aesthetic, albeit with brighter wood tones to emphasize its location right across from the beach and the Pacific Ocean. The 2nd floor has offices and the juice bar. Down the stairs to the first level is where the Men's and Women's locker rooms are as well as the new Recovery Area with a very large co-ed sauna and ice baths. It'll be interesting to see how this location handles the co-ed area. Up stairs to the 3rd floor and you see the requisite cardio area, free weights, one squat rack and machines. The cycling studio is on the side. Upon first glance, the layout of the weights floor felt like it was going to be a problem. It was very small and for a new gym to only have one set of free weights and one squat rack, that's going to be an issue, but upon further discovery there's a whole other section that you can access by going out onto the terrace covered in astroturf set up for weights and sled work and an outdoor stretching area around the corner. There was a larger room that had another cardio area, this time with numerous Woodway Treadmills as well as new weights, another rack of free weights, barbells, dumbbells, squat racks, Smith Machines, etc... The private pilates studio and group fitness studio are also located on this side. That said, I understand they were working with existing space, but it does feel odd to have separate rooms that you would have to access through exterior corridors rather than one unified space. I'm interested to see how this layout will handle weather and volume as there's no access to the locker facilities from the larger weights room. Parking is available underground with the entrance behind the building, but be careful as the ramp up and down were very narrow with numerous scrapes on the ramp walls. Parking for Equinox on the upper parking floors so that's nice, but the spaces are tight. Overall, I believe this is still considered a select location, but depending on how it does it might get bumped up to a SoCal All Access tier, but only time will tell.

The GENERAL MANAGER , name "Mike Smith" Very disrespectful,…read moreunethical, and unprofessional. Today I stopped by at this location to grB a shake and tKe a picture of the back examination machine, so I can search for a home version one. I am a former member , with 6 years of continuous membership, and due to my recent injury on a treadmill on BH location , I had to cancel my membership since 2 months ago, when I arrived today at SM , I explained to this general manager that all I need is to be accompanied by one of the available employees to the back extension machine, for me to take couple of pictures. This rude , non-gentleman manager told me about the policy of the club being exclusive to members only , and refused to help me. I walked out feeling disappointed, disrespected , and betrayed. I don't think people such this guy name "Mike Smith" can present equinox club properly, instead they would make the reputation of the company jeopardized . He definitely needs to address his behavior, and instead of only following the polices , practice some leadership manners, as well as kindness and compassion. I would never visit this club again because of this general manager's poor skills of management, and terrible customer service. I strongly believe he doesn't fit the culture of Equinox club at all.

The great feeling starts right at the door…read more Everyone at the front desk knows my name and greets me with a smile. Eder opens the door with a high five every single day, and Sydney is genuinely one of the nicest people you'll meet -- their warm welcome alone motivates me to come to the gym daily. Mike, the manager, has made this the best gym I've ever seen, even though it's not a top-tier location. The improvement since he started is drastic. All the cardio machines are brand new with huge screens, the stretching area has new mats, and equipment covers have been renewed. He also gets things done fast -- I asked him about battery banks, and two weeks later they were there. A few small suggestions that could make this the best gym ever: 1. Upholstery inspections should be monthly. Most pads were replaced, but a few cracked ones remain, and the cracks pinch your skin. (Also, the lower bike on the left ramps intensity to max on its own -- likely a warranty fix.) 2. Hair dryers are outdated. Other Equinox locations have Dysons -- would love to see them here. 3. Paper towel dispensers are manual. Sensor dispensers (like other Equinox clubs have) would be more hygienic. 4. The new cleaning team isn't quite at the previous level. Mopping starts 20 minutes before close while members are still finishing up, and for the first time ever, shower towels ran out. The previous team never had these issues. 5. The AC struggles on warmer days -- upper floors get pretty hot. None of this changes the bottom line: thanks to Mike, Eder, Sydney, and the front desk team, this club keeps getting better. Highly recommended!

When I asked how early I need to put my name they said you just can't get in that class because other older members have privilege over you! Don't I pay the same money as they do? I spent over 2000 dollar in private, semi private and group sessions there and still could not attend the session with the instructor I liked because I was new to the gym!!!! Group classes are always changing hours and instructors as soon as you get used to one instructor or a time slot. Always subs!!!! Unlike many gyms, there is never a wait for treadmills, elliptical machines, etc. Modern locker rooms with stream and sauna. All areas are immaculate with employees constantly cleaning restrooms and locker rooms. I recently hired personal trainer, Nicole Lordigyan. My workout routine was getting stale. I wasn't doing any weight training. Nicole is a terrific trainer! She has helped me establish a new routine with an emphasis on weight training and more intense, shorter cardio sessions. Nicole has helped me become more confident in the weight room. I no longer feel intimidated by the "heavy lifters". Hiring Nicole was the best thing I've done for myself. I'm enjoying my training sessions so much. I can't recommend the Spectrum Club in Pacific Palisades or Nicole Lordigyan enough.
