Because of the complexity and the nature of the work involved, I had to seek dental support away from y home in Cairns. In terms of overall expense, it was most cost-effective to have the work done in Melbourne. At the time of that emergency, I was also facing prohibitively costly dental repair of a dental implant component that had gone pear-shaped. Because I was very impressed with the level of service I received from Dr. Culy's practise, I decided to enquire as to whether he could address the matter of the implant component. I am glad I did! Although the work was costly, in terms of quotes I had received in FNQ, the savings to me was significant by many hundreds of dollars, by having the work done by Dr. Culy. In addition, because of unforeseen complications, Dr. Culy had the skill, equipment and access to professional consultants to deal with the circumstances effectively. At the end of the day: If I had not gone to Dr. Culy, the possibility of prohibitive costs and additional emergency intervention would have been real. Five years ago (in Sydney) I would have assumed that an MBF/BUPA registered provider would be high quality, but this simply was not the case. I had a nightmare run originally, everything from unnecessary X-rays (done 2 weeks prior) to recommendations for more amalgam fillings (I was trying to get rid of the ones I already had!) to spitting into a plastic cup because there was NO BASIN beside the chair! That's not even the worst of it btw. In contrast, Ron is an angel! He is always friendly, professional & genuinely caring- you can tell he actually likes people- AND he's really funny, which takes the fear of god out of me (I was traumatised after the other dentists, ok?) plus with the BUPA rebates pricing is VERY reasonable. I highly, HIGHLY recommend East Melbourne Dental- they are exceptional! Also best dental work I've had done- check up, clean, fillings etc. :)
