Throughout the representation, the attorney repeatedly requested payment in order to continue working on the case. Payments were made as requested; however, following payment, communication frequently ceased. Calls and text messages often went unanswered for extended periods, including during critical times leading up to scheduled court hearings. The attorney was consistently late for court appearances, on multiple occasions arriving several hours late. Meetings prior to hearings were extremely brief and appeared unprepared. On more than one occasion, the attorney met with us moments before court and asked for a summary of months of case history, which raised serious concerns regarding case preparation and familiarity with the file. Additionally, the attorney made comments that were inappropriate and unrelated to the legal matter, including advising that I should not attend court because my appearance might "intimidate" the opposing party. Such remarks were unprofessional and concerning. Most troubling, the attorney later filed documentation with the court stating that she was withdrawing from representation due to a breakdown in the attorney-client relationship and nonpayment. These assertions are inaccurate. Payment had been made approximately two months prior, and we were not properly notified or consulted before this filing. The cumulative lack of communication, preparation, punctuality, and professionalism resulted in significant stress and left us feeling inadequately represented. Based on this experience, I would urge others to carefully consider these issues before retaining this attorney.
