Mal-administration perhaps? It came over as amateur but at £175 for an ok room for a night, amateur, delay and ineptitude have no place at this price. When we got to the room it was also irritating that the electronic access card didn't work. The dimly lit room was cosy warm with a comfy bed. In - room tea/coffee/kettle and a well stocked fridge were tucked into the wardrobe. Our room had one of the smallest showers I've ever been in, at about an ungenerous two feet wide. Having overcome check - in and delayed room entry malfunctions we headed down to a cramped bar area for wedding related refreshments. The coffee was lukewarm and watery. The tea was also poor tasting as the water wasn't hot enough. Tea leaves need fresh water just off the boil to maximise flavours. The tea and coffee were good quality but quality alone sometimes isn't enough. If you don't do it right then quality is wasted as was the case here. Not upscale more amateurism or laziness or perhaps the daft excuse: health & safety? The amuse-bouche were plentiful and served with smiles. They ranged in quality with my preferences in order being duck rillettes 10/10, salmon toast 9/10, goat cheese tartlet 5/10 as the pastry wasn't made with butter and they were dry through overcooking (or heating & reheating) and breadcrumbed mini fishcakes 3/10 made with cheap, pre frozen, pink salmon, little or no butter, no fresh herbs and an overpowering fishy taste. It was poor that the dip with the fishy fishcake was from a jar of mayonnaise: a cheap shortcut I didn't expect from a hotel positioning itself as upscale so yet evidence of style over substance. When I asked the server what fish was in the 'cake' she didn't know. It was also plain from her "I don't know' that she didn't much care either: maybe amateurism - you gotta walk the talk folks but if the server is on minimum wages I couldn't be critical of her malcontent malfunction. The wedding meal itself was pretty good for the most part, but not great. I had St Maure goat cheese with various salad leaves, sliced blood orange & pistachios to begin. My beef brisket main was very good and 7/10. It had great flavour served with a lightly fried perfect egg 10/10. I finished with what was alleged to be an artisan cheese plate. This was quite poor quality so 2/10. Maybe a Malfunction. Rather than artisan I got industrially made, mostly low grade cheeses, and none had any powerful cheese flavour. The worst thing of all about this was that this non-artisan cheese plate was served warm from the kitchen. So the hard cheeses sweated and the pasteurised Brie style cheese, that had already begun to sag when it reached the table, sank within a few moments into an unpleasant rind-topped oily cheese puddle. Later in the evening we were treated to delicious mini slider burgers that were ace 10/10 and barbecue style spicy chicken wings 6/10. I didn't try the bacon mini muffins or the chips. All cocktail drinks were exorbitantly priced. The dining room had about 80 wedding guests and was overfilled at that, to a point that was uncomfortable. There's another irritation to note. The in-room shower gel & shampoo tubes are labelled the best that you can steal. We've already paid for them so if we decide to take them and throw them in the bin that's our business and it certainly isn't theft. We could discuss daylight robbery style theft with Malmaison. So is it a wedding venue; certainly not for more than 50 in our view. Would we return here; well maybe but not anytime soon as we can stay for 3 nights half board in May in Malaga for less than £175. Our hotel there is right by the Mediterranean. I observed a fellow guest at check-in as we checked out. She was trying to pay for something. She tendered a paper £10 Bank of England note. She was told it could not be accepted. An upscale place would have been discreet rather than broadcast this non transaction for us to hear. More malfunction and maladministration. I imagine had she handed this £10 over as a tip it would have been a whole other story. Maybe he doesn't realise that customers make pay days. When a business in the service industry is charging £175 a night room only, £9 for a small glass of wine and upwards of £12 for badly mixed cocktails I expect every single aspect of customer delivery to be flawless. This consistently wasn't the case here.

Upon presenting ourselves in the bar area, we were promptly greeted and shown to some ornate seats, then presented with a tray of assorted snack crackers while we perused the menu. Shortly thereafter, we were also delivered a refreshing welcome libation. Totally unexpected, and a gracious touch of hospitality. Cocktail offerings span the gamut of base spirits and flavor combinations. Each drink was cleverly appellated with a mononym that captured its essence. After some consultation with our server, Conor, I opted to start with the Chocolate, while my sister ordered a Rhubarb. As one might expect of an establishment that's earned two pins from the Pinnacle Guide, service was blazingly prompt (I'm always surprised when I don't have to wait a good ten minutes between ordering a craft cocktail and having it show up at my table), the drinks themselves were flawlessly balanced, and I do -so- love when bars have both proper ice and glassware that shows off its contents. The Merchant's Hotel bar (over)delivers on absolutely every aspect of the tippling experience. Our first round was so delightful, I was loath to leave before sampling their other offerings. I was torn between the Ginger (because, poitín) and the Orange (because, local whiskey), but Conor surprised me with an invitation to going off-menu. Hey, if it's an adventure involving alcohol, I'm there! He suggested a Vieux Carré. Okay. Total sidebar: I'd just recently learned from my sister that one of my absolute favorite bars in Chicago -- The Violet Hour -- had closed. It was one of the earliest craft cocktail establishments I'd ever patronized, and it was also the first place I'd ever been served a Vieux Carré. The unlikely confluence of my learning of Violet Hour's demise, its association with this particular cocktail, and being offered one halfway across the globe screams a little too much of cosmic syzygy to write off as pure happenstance. Aaaaaaaanyway, obviously, I immediately said yes. To which Conor then followed up with a, "How much Bailey's would you like in that?" It took me half a beat before I was like, "Wait a minute..." I think his cheeky grin was evidence that he was either joking, testing me, or some combination of both. Fortunately, I caught the game. And, friends, I can heartily confirm that this Vieux Carré was arguably better than any I've had in NOLA. Seriously, the folks behind the bar know their craft. In case it hasn't already been abundantly clear that I'm enamored with this venue, I'll close with this: during my 14-day tour around the island, drinks at the cocktail bar at the Merchant's Hotel stands out at the single most delightful experience of my entire trip. If I'm ever back on the Emerald Isle, you can expect I'll be making a return visit.

The hotel is close enough to the Belfast downtown area (maybe 10 minute walk) that it didn't feel like a chore to go. Rooms: The rooms are sleek, modern, and well-appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the river and city skyline. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the rainfall shower was a lovely touch. Unfortunately, no tub. Dining: If you're a platinum member, there's no free breakfast for you here. There's a small upcharge for breakfast. I can't recall if they only cover one person's breakfast or if it was an 8 pound upcharge for each person. But don't count on free breakfast here. Location: If you love Game of Thrones, there's a Glass of Thrones art piece right outside the hotel on the banks. You can see the H&W cranes from the hotel as well. The Titanic museum is maybe a 20-minute walk away on the other side. Parking: There's a nearby parking structure that's a few minutes walk away, NCP, that the hotel will validate for. It's 11 pounds for every 24 hours there. The parking structure was pretty safe as it was gated to enter and you needed to scan your ticket to get into the structure. Overall, I would recommend staying here if you're in Belfast and don't mind a short walk to some of the major attractions. I really enjoyed the videos.

The staff are very professional and friendly, and helpful. The housekeeping service was ok. I had to request them to clean stains on the floor that was there before I arrived, and to service my room. They could do a little better. I would definitely come back again to stay. This was a great hotel.

I was a little apprehensive about the service we would get as in the past it was never known as an upmarket hotel, but everything was spot on and indeed it now has 4 stars. The staff went out of their way to help us set up our conference rooms, ran and got anything we needed and made sure that all the catering was exactly on time. I stayed the night before the conference and my room was really nice - plenty of room, TV and better than average furniture, bathroom and bedding. Much better than I was expecting. Breakfast the next morning was tasty and nicely presented and the Ulster Fry was grease free. Morning and afternoon breaks and lunches were good too. - freshly cooked tasty food, and lots of it. Afternoon break included fresh cream pastries which went down very well too. The Park Avenue is a lovely hotel where the staff deliver excellent service. The weekend break at £90 per person for 2 nights, breakfast and 1 dinner is outstanding value so give it a go.

They seem to go for quantity rather not than quality. I was really impressed by this spread of canapes at a charity event I was at. That and the fancy set up made everyone feel very appreciated. The staff are very helpful. The car park is a let down. Being on a hill is not good when in heels or if you are elderly or have a disability.

I would highly recommend The Stormont for any business that want host a professional event. The conference facilities are excellent, I was attending an event with Invest NI and we were treated to nothing but exceptional service from all the staff. The sweet bowls and water bottles table were kept filled at all times - it's the small things you remember and these little things could help to keep your customers happy or gain you extra orders! Having everything (Rooms, conference facilities, Restaurant, huge car park and Gym) in one place also is a huge benefit as it cuts down on the logistical nightmare for event attendees and hosts. The scenery isn't bad either - a five minute walk from Stormont Park and Parliament buildings - two great photo opportunities for visitors

Let's start in the lobby, one of the elevator has both direction lights burned out, the other always shows up no matter which direction you are going. The common area carpets are what I would call filthy, foot prints and stains all the way through the hallway on our floor, peeling wallpaper, dirty walls. Housekeep staff is nice and it may be a staffing problem but both days they come while we were in the room, one day was early and the day after we had been out and about for about 6 hours, last thing you want to do on vacation is have to leave for housekeeping after you return from a day of excursions. They have an on-site restaurant, first night I ordered a steak medium rare, it came out much closer to medium, second night we ordered a pizza and on the crispy crust scale it was a big zero, no crisp to the crust at all, basically warm bread with pizza toppings, granted we are not in Chicago or New York or even LA but come on at least make it look like you know how to make a pizza. Unless you have a meeting in this hotel, I would pick something else in the city closer to some of the many fine restaurants. On a whirlwind 2 week vacation to Ireland, the girlfriend & I tried to see & experience absolutely as much of this incredible land as we could. We did not accomplish every last activity we wished we could have on our rather ambitious itinerary. Nonetheless, we did discover a land of numerous stunning & magical wonders. We did see a land of unending natural beauty. We did learn of a land with a monumentally long history of trials, tragedies & triumphs. We did get to meet many kind, humorous, warm & generous people. Our vacation to Ireland was just 2 weeks, but that was time enough to know this is a land easy to love & a land to be sorely missed. Hotel 4 of 5 on our trip to Ireland was the Premier Inn Belfast near city center. This Premier Inn is a nice, clean, modern & inexpensive hotel with a very friendly & conversational staff. There are a couple hassles to staying here, however, & there was 1 complete fail in service during our stay. Checking in was great as we had a lively conversation with staff about our travels, the city of Belfast & a great many other things. We were greeted warmly from the front desk on most of our comings & goings. Our room was a decent size. While being neatly & efficiently appointed, the room still retained a comfortable feeling. From our 7th floor window we had a good view of Belfast & I was lucky enough to catch a couple beautiful sunrises over the low hills to the East. This Premier Inn on Alfred Street has no free parking or hotel car park. Paid parking is available nearby, but is pricey. Fortunately, we arrived on our 1st day late enough that it was after the paid street parking hours & we parked right in front of the hotel overnight for free. The next morning, we left the city for the day & again returned late enough to park on the street overnight for free. The day after that was Sunday & street parking is free all day. Lastly, the morning after that, we checked out & somehow managed to avoid paying for parking the 3 nights we stayed in Belfast. Internet is available in the hotel either at a couple computers in the lobby or by Wi-Fi in the room. Either way, you're really going to have to pay for it. Like £1/ 20 minutes or £20/ day pay for it. I think this is patently ridiculous. Finally, there was the single fail during our stay. Our 1st night in Belfast came after a long day driving & both the girlfriend & I were very tired. In addition to being very tired, it was late, we were hungry & we didn't know any places near the hotel to get dinner so we decided it would be easiest to eat at the hotel restaurant. I ordered a burger & fries. It took over 35 minutes for the kitchen to produce that burger & fries. Tired, hungry & waiting over 35 minutes for a burger & fries just ain't cool. We were comped a round of beers, so I left it at that. Overall, the Premier Inn on Alfred Street in Belfast is a good hotel for the money. The kind & hospitable hotel staff was definitely a highlight. It's in a conveniently central location, but parking a car while staying here can be dicey or expensive. Although Premier Inn is certainly not the only hotel to charge a fee for internet use, I find this practice at hotels to be absurd. About as absurd as waiting nearly 40 minutes for a burger & fries.

As part of a trip all over the UK, my auntie and uncle came here for one night. They got a taxi to and from the bus station so finding the hotel was not overly difficult. The lady at the desk got them checked in and sorted in minutes and their room was clean, tidy and quiet. They ate in the restaurant which was cheap and tasty. They got breakfast in the morning and the lady at the reception rang for a taxi and got them to the bus station on time, Uneventful I know but all you want from a hotel is that it is reliable and does what it should. And Premier Inn does just that.

First and foremost, I will absolutely miss staying here. Staff was so friendly and helpful, tended to all our room needs, our room "Botanic Suite" had a wonderful street view, no street noise, no noise at all from our neighbors- it was so quiet during our stay we slept well for the most part - my only complaint was the queen bed was actually just two twin beds put together which could be uncomfortable, the TV was placed in the dinning area but made it difficult to watch in bed and there weren't many channels available. The suite was so big, but it lacked a refrigerator, microwave, drawers for clothing, and oddly enough the shower was missing a door. The tub bath included made up for that however. From what I was told the hotel is still being renovated. This hotel offers a variety of services including wake up calls, tour services, breakfast, transportation set up and much more. It's a small boutique hotel in a lively and safe neighborhood, right down the street from Queens university and the Ulster Museum, so you'll find lots of pubs, live music, restaurants, market store just a block away, the bus and train station is near by, Uber is easy to use in the area and you can walk to almost anything you need. I would definitely stay here again!

The rooms are bigger than average, with incredibly sleek bathrooms. The beds were insanely comfortable, and the large plasma TVs were a nice touch, though a bit tough to finagle. The staff could not have been nicer, as they were insanely helpful in answering whatever questions we had about what to do in town. I hope I return to Belfast sooner rather than later, and I would definitely consider staying here again!
