Let's start from the beginning, from the moment I first emailed Miriam I knew I was going to be beyond happy working with her. She's genuine, honest, helpful and excited to work with each client! Her thoughts on planning and customizing your photography experience are detailed and on point! I had been waiting for what felt like forever to take engagement photos (got engaged 12.27.2019) so I was nervous but beyond excited to finally make them happen. When I started looking for a photographer, I felt like everyone I came across had the same if not very similar styles and I wanted something different, unique and "magical." My wedding theme is Disney with Christmas so I want someone who has similar interests and could bring across those special details and vibes in my photos while keeping them adult and memorable. When I told Miriam my thoughts she instantly responded with the same enthusiasm and worked on narrowing down the best location choice for what I was looking for along with my comfort since my fiancé and I are very shy people when it comes to taking photos. We had to reschedule the first time due to the weather not working in our favor and she was more than accommodating. The next date the weather wasn't looking good again we both agreed we should bump up the time to earlier in the morning if it worked for both of us (see what I mean about being on the same page? haha). Well, even though we had to make those few changes she was very positive we were going to have the perfect session and honestly, she must be psychic because she was right! The location was perfect, the weather worked in our favor, she had a great eye for a variety of shots, and she posed me and my fiancé in ways that were simple for us to follow along with for our first photoshoot together while also being very romantic and personalized for us. I can't stop looking at our photos and tearing up at the memory already. Seeing how happy we were taking the photos, the loving exchanges and the natural experience that's clearly brought across in our photos makes me so happy I didn't just settle and I searched high and low for someone as amazing and talented as Miriam. There's so many people that come to these sites to leave a review only for a negative experience but I came here today to leave a RAVING review for Miriam from Five Oceans Photography! Miriam is absolutely a wonderful fun loving person and as a photographer she's creative, vibrant, thoughtful and has a natural eye for capturing absolutely beautiful and memorable shots (even before they're finalized/edited)! I couldn't believe it when I received my raw images to choose from for finalizing and have been struggling with narrowing them down that I'll be purchasing groups of edits because I'm just beyond happy with them. I'm not someone who finds it easy to have my photo taken but Miriam made it feel natural and fun. I was nervous on the ride to our photoshoot location but once she pulled up and we chatted a bit in person I was able to relax and knew it was going to be a fun afternoon. So many photographers are in your face and trying to force a smile out of you and that can make you feel so stressed out and ruin the moment but not Miriam. She told us to act natural and get a feel for certain poses she guided me and my fiancé with to see what worked and what didn't. I really loved the blooper photos as I call them of my fiancé and I uncontrollably laughing during certain moments and can't wait to put them in our album along with the ones that we will have further edited/finalized. If you're looking for an amazing photographer, I can't recommend Miriam enough! From the moment we met her, she made my daughter, Lola, feel completely at ease. She guided her through every pose, making everything feel natural and effortless. Lola was able to change into multiple outfits, and Miriam never made us feel rushed. Instead, she took her time to make sure every photo was perfect. The location she chose in Chatham, NY was absolutely breathtaking. Every backdrop was gorgeous, and she knew exactly where to go to capture the most beautiful lighting and scenery. What meant the most to me was how confident and comfortable she made Lola feel. Senior pictures can be intimidating, but Miriam made the entire experience so much fun. Lola had an absolute blast, was laughing the whole time, and left feeling beautiful and confident. When we received the gallery, we were completely blown away. The photos are absolutely stunning and captured Lola's personality so perfectly. It was almost impossible to choose our favorites because they were all incredible. Miriam is incredibly talented, professional, patient, and has such a wonderful eye for detail.
