I visited Five Rivers in Prague during my vacation in May and enjoyed a scrumptious dinner all by myself! I ordered a missi roti and paneer makhani for dinner. The flavors were very authentic, and I was very happy to see so many bread options on the menu. Missi roti is not easily available at Indian restaurants in the States, hence it was my preferred choice from the menu! I don't usually like paneer, but they did not have any tofu options, so that was a bummer. Nonetheless, the gravy was very flavorful. After a week traveling in Europe, I was craving some Indian food. This restaurant had good reviews and was right across the four seasons where we were staying. We got the masala papad, paneer tikka, palak paneer, roti and rice. Yum!!! It hit the spot. Also the portions were super generous. I decided to visit Five Rivers on my final night in Prague, it is an Indian restaurant in the Josefov area of the city, a short walk away from the stunning Charles Bridge. The interior was comfortable, I especially liked the booth seating, which was super comfortable and looked so majestic... like a throne fit for a King. I was able to get a table in a reasonable fashion without the need for a reservation, originally I did have some difficulty in communication due to the language barrier, and was told to sit at the bar area and given menus, before being moved into the restaurant, I am still puzzled and had no idea what they expected me to do there! Allergens were labelled on the menu, when I clarified with my server regarding this, he didn't seem too confident. Service was poor with no one checking up on us during the meal, and the staff didn't seem too friendly, but again this could be down to the language barrier, so I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt on that front The pricing was very good, for the quality of the food, I would say the pricing was very competitive, especially for the location being a stone's throw away from Charles Bridge and the metro, and within walking distance of Prague Castle. As a party of three, we decided to order a curry each, as well as some rice. The portions of steamed basmati rice were huge and suitable for sharing, as we didn't realise this we ordered one each, I would have liked the staff member to advise us how big they were, as one bowl of rice could certainly be shared amongst two people with plentiful portions and feeling full. The flavours inside both curries were good, my favourite was the Chicken Tikka, as I like a bit of heat, and find they executed this very well. One other member of the party and I shared two curries between us, a butter chicken, and a chicken tikka to medium spice, the spices in the curry were good quality, and it was pretty tasty, I did find the portion of sauce to be very good, but would have liked more chicken in the curry. For drinks, I ordered their homemade iced tea, which again was pretty good. Overall, the food was good, especially for the price, with a similar meal back home in the UK likely to cost 1.5 - 2 x what we paid here. The interior is attractive and in terms of the atmosphere of the restaurant and food quality, it is certainly an authentic Indian, despite a couple of problems I faced, I would return if I visit Prague again. Was really craving for spicy Indian food during my Euro trip and found this place on google maps. Loved the Dahi ke Sholey appetizer. Even the palak paneer and garlic butter naan were very appetizing. The curry was a little oily though. They also charge for drinking water. There is no such thing as tap water and the water bottle was quite expensive. Looks like they have buffet for lunch. The place is very close to old town Prague and Charles bridge. This was definitely one of the better meals during our trip. Started off with the samosas and pakora. Great in taste with even better sauces. Ordered the butter chicken for my main. Being typical Indian travelers, after a few days of food outside, we crave the curry and spices. Five Rivers was the perfect spot for us. Place seems quite busy and well liked, we were able to get in without a reservation. Service is exceptional and very courteous. We started with grilled tandoori platter, which was great. Have never tried haryali chicken legs stuffed with keema- innovative and delicious. Our family from New Jersey has pretty high standards for Indian food, and we were all pleasantly surprised about the authenticity and quality of the food. We tried and would recommend the butter chicken, kofta curry, lamb roganjosh and biryani. And you have to try the lemonade (skanjvi) !! I would have give Fivers a 4.5 but yelp only allows full stars. We're ordering Indian food in Prague. Kind of an interesting choice... but you get tired of that Central European fare after a while. So we looked around and found this place, very close to our hotel. Reviews seemed decent so we decided to give it a try. Since there were only two of us, we didn't order a large number of dishes. It's not often an Indian restaurant feels like a tourist trap but this one clearly did. From ordering food to leaving we just never enjoyed the dining experience. We ordered a pair of lassis, rogan josh, a vegetable curry, and water. We asked for tap water and I know some places can be difficult but the waiter was a bit rude which was then compounded by the fact the water was rather pricey. The rogan josh was the highlight of the meal and very good indeed. I would definitely recommend it as there was a bunch of lamb which was well cooked and not fatty. The sauce was rich and tasty as well. +1 star for the rogan josh alone. The vegetable curry was strange. It was basically just a curry sauce which was tasty but rather devoid of vegetables, completely not as described in the menu. As an Indian traveling to Prague from the USA I never thought that I would find myself at an Indian restaurant abroad. I have to admit this restaurant is a hidden gem! First off the ambiance is unforgettable with catchy Bollywood music always playing and the royal Punjabi decor is beautiful and fancy. The service is great! Staff is so sweet. Most importantly the food is authentic and delicious. We ordered the mixed grille non-veg, butter chicken, lamb roganjosh, malai kofta, chicken biryani, and garlic naan. My family and I enjoy eating family style where we share everything so this restaurant was perfect. Portions were big and more than enough. Excellent and authentic Punjabi food. Why is this place not overrun with with people? The dishes are delicious. Definitely order the mixed veg kulcha, dal makhani, and stuffed tandoori mushrooms. We were halfway through our central Europe trip and having some delicious Indian for dinner was a great break in the local food we'd been having. We have Indian about once a week at home in the US, so going a couple weeks without was odd. Had the Tikka Masala, they made us Lamb Saag, Paneer Makhani, all were very good. Indian restaurant and bar pretty close to Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. We ordered Misi Roti and Aloo Mughlai. Roti was properly seasoned and baked, one of the best Misi Roti I had before. Gravy was spicey and not sweet, with potato dumplings properly cooked. I got Masala Chai as well, and it was really really good -- slowly cooked and flavor of ginger. Place wasn't pricey, and they also offer thalis which are almost of same price as coffee in Praha. We got our food in 15mins, staff was friendly.
