Let me start off by saying I have *previewed* this establishment during a Yelp Elite event earlier…read morethis week. But they impressed me. I think they are geographically and conceptually positioned to do well. Pronounced "three one seven", their street dance academy is the only dance studio in Indy whose concentration is the art of breakdance. They offer classes for 5-years-olds on up through adults of all ages (our lead instructor told us they recently taught a 70-something yr old). It's not only fun and interesting, it's fantastic exercise. The moves definitely work your core muscles. I would imagine in a more traditional class as opposed to our quicker demo, that it's a full-body and cardio workout, improving both strength and endurance/stamina. Our lead instructor "Seoul" taught us some basics. He's smart, charismatic and has a laid-back style that dispels self-consciousness by the class. We explored Toprock footwork, Freezes, and some mechanics of Powermoves. There's a lot physics that goes into to this dance form, which Seoul pointed out. He also brought a cultural context to a lot of what we were doing. I was impressed that they had 5 staff at our evening event, which ran 8-9:30p. After we guests were asked to show what we'd learned by putting it all together, the four dance instructors each brought signature moves to the floor. Breakdancing can be broken down into Breakin' and Popping, and one instructor, "Nimbus", was particularly skilled at the latter. They also have an awesome DJ. They're running half-day kids camps for 2 weeks in June. The weeks are divided by age group, so DEFINITELY check out their website for the deets. If your kids like Wii and Fortnite dancing this is the real deal. What a fantastic way to get our kiddos off their devices and into some healthy exercise, as well as expose them to something they're too young to have experienced the first time. For those of us old enough to remember breakdance as a cultural experience and unique art form, now's your chance to not let it pass you by again ;)

The space is so vibrant and fun with graffiti art along the walls and the music is so fun! Loud and makes you want to do more than just tap your foot! Great for exercise for kids because they don't know that they are exercising, great for confidence because these are moves not everyone knows, and great for fun because who doesn't love to watch people spin on their heads?! Even my three year old wants to sign up... Check out their website! Unique classes for kids for sure! - And we have Seoul as our teacher and HE IS AMAZING! Great energy and great with the kids! I love places where they great you and your kids by name when you walk in!

Not the best not the worst, vibe is very uppity...Studio talks a big game, but it's just a meh…read moresuburban dance studio that gives little kids something to do and doesnt focus on being actually good at dance, more just the social aspect of it. Affordable if you aren't looking for much and don't mind saying no all the time to the extras and push to be on the dance teams to meet "goals" and "potential" as they say a lot. Teachers are all over the place... very few Ok core faculty then it's random college students and people who dance on the side sold as "experts" from NY to LA...but almost everyone is local from Indy area....which I guess is technically between NY and LA lol.

I have a lot to say about this place. Some of my grandkids have gone here for years and I've always…read morebeen less than impressed with the skill level of dancers, but figured it's fun and good for their development. After this recent recital and speaking to some teachers and the owner backstage, I feel I have finally had enough and want to give my 2 cents. Especially in the context of finding out what is being paid to this studio for a sub par product. Daughter is essentially paying a second mortgage with all direct and indirect costs considered and still asked to volunteer time for the studio. The owner and a younger instructor told me at the recital that my granddaughter has a "future in dance" and can go "pro". Turn around and they are giving another eager parent the SAME spiel. They constantly talk with hopeful parents and impressionable children about being pro, getting to the next "level"/competition team, and their need for more and more classes to make these levels or not let their skills "deteriorate". These are all seemingly tactics to make more money because they want you to take dance year round and more of it to get to these levels and teams. You absolutely will make the team if you are old enough and you follow their prescription of more classes for long enough-I saw it first hand with one of mine. It's more pay-to-play than skill and the end product shows this. The competitions also feel very pay-to-play in recent years, compared to when my daughter did them, with all the participation awards given to nearly every dancer-but that is not wishes run, just vehemently encouraged by them. The steady stream of confusing awards keeps customers coming back and keep girls on their competition teams. The grand kids are there 5-6 days a week most weeks and are exhausted all for a sub par product. They are not involved in extra curricular activities at school or really anything else because they've been convinced by teachers it would detract from dance. The families are also asked to volunteer like it's a school field trip or charity event. Some parents even work at the studio part time for "discounts" per my daughter and they also have the older girls teaching the younger ones their recital dances and I see them assisting on stage. Im told by my girls they aren't compensated or rewarded in any way-it's just an expectation. It's a pyramid scheme that rewards you for loyalty (also see: trophy where they engrave your name after 5,10, etc years of dance). I am supportive of their dance and have always supported my daughters and their children, but I also have a unique perspective of having simultaneous experience with a few studios in the area and Indy. Trust me, there are better studios with less staff turnover that produce more skilled dancers without the significant cost and time demanded by Wishes. P.S. My wife said something I thought was a great metaphor-it feels like those model scouts in the mall back in the 90s where they convinced a kid they had a modeling career waiting, but only if you took their internal modeling classes and paid for headshots through them.

The experience kicked off in the best of ways with a very friendly welcome and tour of the space. I was really impressed by how large their building as in how many rooms and classes they were able to host at the same time. they offer a small shopping area three dressing rooms and several different weights to coordinate with different classes. My particular visit was for the hot stretch class which included intense stretching in a heated room for 30 minutes. It seemed that this was just what my body needed after a few days of spin classes. Note that if you do not have a mat, you can rent theirs for two dollars as well as towels and water bottles. I also appreciated that their first sample class was only eight dollars for new customers. Often times the $20 for a first class at other studios makes it a bit too much when you don't know what you're getting into.
