This company is a scam. After paying in full in Nov 2020 none of their work was done. Driveway was NEVER staked. I had to call repeatedly to get a plow at my home for the 1st snow fall. Five Star Ruined our front walk and , as their contract states do NOT accept any responsibility for damage to your property. We contracted Five Star for Snow Removal for the first time this recent winter. They did show up on snow days to clear our drive. However their drivers were blatantly careless. Drove over most of the stakes, ripping up the grass well under the sod in several places. Most importantly the Plow ripped up our beautiful front walkway. Estimates for repair are in the range of $2,000-$3,000 . They reminded us when we called that they are "held harmless" from damage. read more

They never showed up to stake my driveway would should have foreshadowed the fact that they never intended to provide any service. They never showed up for the first snow of the year because their "trucks were down". This follows the same pattern others have noted for the past few seasons; collect money upfront, claim equipment is broken, show up once per season or not at all. Update 2/9/2018: Five Star have some nerve. I received a voicemail today that the 20 pushes I have paid for have been used, and they would like to extend my contract for 5 additional pushes for $95. These people are criminals! They haven't plowed the driveway once and yet I am at the end of our contract. In a large snow storm shouldn't you be out plowing in place of scamming people. They denied this and then said they reserve the right to charge for 2 pushes at times. They never disclosed this and I would never have signed up for such a crazy contract. Communication - POOR - Talked to them by phone before season - Early snowplowing was important to us & they agreed to it. NEVER able to get them by phone after season started & mailbox always full. Tried EMAIL & it partially worked - at least they would show up Work quality - POOR - destroyed the landscaping & grass by the mailbox @ foot of driveway. Will cost $$ to fix this spring. Inadequate staking of driveway - wiped them out with 1st push & never returned to replace despite # emails. Never did a good job with removing the snow. Timeliness - POOR - came HOURS after snow was done Resolution - NONE - I gave up & decided it was better for my landscaping & sanity to do it myself. Whatever you do, avoid this wretched company at all costs! They are scam artists who are nothing but conmen. The contract I signed was paid in full and of course they have not filled their end of the deal. I contacted them numerous times regarding my issue and the multiple responses were nothing but excuses. Literally the responses they texted me were the same ones that I read from other customers who complained. They must have a template of excuses that they use when responding to irate customers. When I actually looked into this steaming pile of sphincter expulsion of a company, I found that this "Five Star" had the same name of another, seemingly reputable company called "Five Star". They are located in another city, so I'm not sure if these companies are affiliated or not. This is where the initial confusion regarding the A rated company and the F rated company. I also found that they have already been sued by the Michigan AG for their horrible service and dishonest business practices! Unfortunately, I found this out after the fact. That said, Five Star will never get my business other than the lawsuit I will be filing to get my money back! Hold on... NOPE, STILL not plowed. Lesson learned. I had a very similar and disappointing experience with Five Star. I sent my payment but they did not deliver and could not be reached. Today with a heavy snowfall they called to say my services had been used up and offered the "deal" of 5 more pushes for another $95!! Unbelievable how fraudulent a company they are! The best recourse we have, even more so than a bad review, is to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office. The more complaints the AG has, the better the chances of stopping them from continuing to scam the public. It is almost 4:00 PM and the snow is stopped since 10 AM and I told them that I needed it done before at 4 PM and they did not bother to show up. Do not hire this company for snow removal. My elderly mother hired this company and they have been a nightmare to work with. It takes them days to come shovel the driveway, and when they do, they do a horrible job. They don't clear all the snow, they scrape up all of your grass, they make your house look horrible. To make things even worse, when you call them, you can't leave a message or talk to anybody. Nobody will pick up the phone. All they do is cash your check and run away. Five star has not shown up to remove the snow. The contract was signed in Nov. Money was send at the end of Nov. They did landscaping last year, cut grass last and this year, removed snow last year for me. I met with Carl before and he seemed a self-respect person. I wished I review these reviews before hiring them. They cut down some trees and early May 2018 and have not removed the branches or stumps. I have called, emailed and gotten no response. Karl makes commitments he cannot deliver. When I asked for paperwork on cutting down the trees he yes's me out the door because you need a permit in Farmington Hills to cut trees down and he said he never knew that. You should know if you a permit if your business cut trees in Farmington Hills. Now they have the nerve to send me a invoice for cutting my lawn when they haven't remove the tree stumps and branches. Prepaid snow removal for the year, including fee for "staking" my driveway. No one has showed up yet (and its Jan 11th) to stake the driveway, so don't know if we are going to get service. Do not use this company! First snow they were a no show. Then it took numerous calls and texts to get thme to show up. After 8 plows on their contract where they say you get 10 plows they called demanding another $95. . So they never came out, wouldn't discuss the issue, wouldn't give me a copy of my contract and besides threatening for more money they threatened to call the police and to take legal action if I ever cslled again. The main number is never answered but I cslled back the number that called me and sometimes a person answered to threaten me or try to get me to pay more money. So far they have never staked the yard even though we received multiple emails stating they would be out to do it. Now we have had two significant snow falls and they have never shown up. I asked the owner, Karl, to give me a price on yard clean up and cutting down trees. He gave me a reasonable proposal. We negotiated on a price for doing both jobs, and I signed his contract and emailed it back to him 11/04/15. Then two of his guys came out with leaf blowers and cleaned out my beds for 2 hours, then left. They did not finish the yard clean up. They barely touched the lawn. Then 6 weeks go by. I made several calls, the last few calls were never returned. I gave up on him and cleaned up the yard myself on 12/13/15. I have a 1 acre property and I filled up 25 yard bags with leaves. The very next day (Sunday) he shows up and promises to cut down my trees. I ask him if he's doing it for the same price, thinking he meant the price he quoted for doing my trees. He agrees. Then when he finished the work a couple days later, he demands the full price, the price we agreed upon for doing both jobs (yard clean up and trees). We argue, he accuses me of cheating him and threatens to take me to court and wasting his time. I point out that he wasted more than a month of my time, plus I had to do the job he is now demanding me to pay him. I pay him the money he DEMANDED, not because he's right, but because he is dishonest and I never want to deal with him again, and there is no point in dealing with a liar and a fool. They came and blew all leafs in big piles, but due to big snow they couldn't pick them up same day. It took a few weeks and a number of text message exchanges with Karl.
