Given the state of the economy, I was eager to update my home quickly and was looking for someone skilled in house painting as well as other home improvement tasks. So, I went to my computer and did a quick search and found Five Star Painting of Bend. I requested a quote through Yelp and they responded in under an hour. The representative walked me through the process and arrived to estimate the project later that day. The estimate went well and I appreciated the willingness to work with me on various issues around the house. The job took just a little over a week and it looked fantastic! I almost didn't want to sell it anymore. In addition to painting the kitchen windows, doors, hand rail, balusters, Ryan also repaired damaged door jams, replaced three broken floor tiles, installed new kitchen cabinet hardware and even replaced a small section of wall in my laundry room. The initial painting of our house was okay. The crew was hardworking and they were done pretty quickly. However; one of the reasons I selected this business (and paid more than other bids) is because of the 2-year warranty that they offered, which turned out to be useless. When the 2-year mark arrived, it was like pulling teeth to get Adam to honor his warranty. He would ghost me for long stretches. After several months of nagging, I did eventually get him to come out, but he had one crew member who spent about 1.5 hours working on the bubbled areas (and there were lots!). Adam assured me his crew would sand/scrape the bubbled areas, but they didn't do that. The guy just slapped paint over the spots. Obviously, that isn't going to hold. Now, I am faced with fixing the mess myself. All of that nagging for 1.5 hours of work by one guy! They also wouldn't fix the front door which had not fared well over the 2 years and the wood was splitting. If you care at all about the warranty, I would skip this contractor. And I certainly will NOT be a repeat customer. read more

Five Star was responsive to my initial request for an estimate. My original paint colors are custom. Adam was able to get the paint mixed so that it was identical to my original colors from 12 years ago. The painting crew was careful with my landscape, did an excellent job cutting in trim and were in and out within a couple of days. I was very happy with their work. Five stars! read more

We got a late start on reaching out to local painting contractors here in Bend to get our Exterior house repainted. We relied on Yelp and Nextdoor reviews, and finally ended up with 4 contractors, with 3 being smaller and one being the larger more well known painting contractor here in Bend. We reached out to all 4 at the same time, and Five Start not only responded first, but they were the first to even set up time to provide us with an estimate. And to put into perspective, our house is now fully painted, yet we would have just only been receiving an estimate from the largest company had we even waited that long for them to come out to give us an estimate. Adam met with us, gave us great confidence that our home wouldn't be too difficult (even though it is a 2 story), and assured us his painting crew knew what they'd be doing. Within a day after meeting with us to survey the house, we had our estimate. We met with another smaller contractor, and their estimate was over 25% higher. Had Five Star not received great recommendations/reviews on Nextdoor, we would have been nervous to go with Five Star thinking something must be wrong given their lower price. But in the end, we signed the contract with Five Star. In our mind, we thought we might have to wait until the end of August to get the house painted given our late start, but Adam had an opening in their schedule, and so we jumped at the chance to have them come out. I want to say that his crew, headed by Jose, was A+. First day they came out and power-washed the house. Second Day they prepped (and it was incredible the amount of caulking and sanding they performed), third day they painted, and fourth Day they finished. We were nervous going from a much darker color scheme house to that of a lighter, but Adam insisted that the new Warm Neutral colors would easily cover up the previous darker colors by using the Sherwin Williams Duration paint. And that is exactly what happened. No worries in the end as the house looks beautiful. So in the end, if you decide to go with Five Star, I feel confident that you'll also equally conclude that their price is fantastic compared to other companies, while at the same time getting an amazing paint job. We also want to point out that their warranty was a selling point to go with them, as another contractor's warranty covered 50% less time. read more
