We had Bone Dry out to work on our chimney - tuck pointing, lining the interior, and installing a…read morestainless vent for our water heater. We're an hour away, and I had been trying to get local chimney sweeps and masons to come deal with our house for years. I'd get an estimate, and then no one would follow up. Bone Dry showed up when they said they would, did what they said they would do, were respectful to my house, property, and people, and cleaned up after they left. We had three different crews come through to address each phase of the work, and everyone was professional, friendly, and communicative. There were a couple of small bumps, but they handled them professionally and quickly. I was, all in all, very pleased with their performance. I'm a building professional myself, and very much appreciate what they do. They're good people, and did a very good job for me. Pricing was reasonable '(this stuff is expensive - brace yourself, but these guys don't overcharge) I'd hire them again without a second thought.

Followed up a few years later by issues where moisture was entering our house through an access point and causing damage to our ceiling. They took partial blame for the situation and repaired things with partial charges. Most recently after a storm, they checked my roof and determined it was OK, but a rake board had come loose and the sales rep showed me a video verifying the need for repair. I consented. When they came to do the repair, it wound up being a simple 'nail back in place job', which was not what all I thought it would necessarily be. Combined with a single loose piece of siding that was also nailed back into place, I was charged $665 for a 10-15 minute job that required basically no materials. When I shared my concern that I felt the charge was excessive for the work performed, I was basically dismissed and charged the full amount. I realize I signed the contract, I simply didn't think the job warranted the full charge. I appreciate they got on a ladder and did work I wasn't comfortable or knowledgable enough to do, and felt a slightly lesser charge seemed to make sense for what they did. Guess I will look elsewhere for future jobs after the lack of understanding to work with me.

We texted Dylan again on New Year's Day when our heat totally went out, he came by midday on the 2nd, found the problem, ran and found the parts and we had heat in just a couple hours of him coming. The way Dylan explains HVAC systems and answers our questions is fantastic - always easy to understand and never makes us feel like we're taking up too much of his time. We found him to be refreshingly honest about recommendations while not trying to sell us on a product we don't necessarily need. I'd highly recommend Dylan and Smell the Roses to anyone in the area!

He was very friendly, professional, and thorough in his inspection. After carefully checking the system, he explained his diagnosis clearly and offered practical suggestions. I asked for a quote for a new system and received a detailed, transparent proposal from him. His pricing was competitive, and what really stood out was the 10-year labor warranty included--far better than the typical 1-2-year coverage offered by others. That kind of warranty offers real peace of mind for nearly the full life of the system. Although we eventually chose another contractor for installation since we don't plan to stay in this home long-term, I was very impressed with Dylan's professionalism and honesty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for an experienced and trustworthy HVAC expert.
