I'll give an update since writing this review the daily calls from Flagship Financial have stopped. The owner attempted to contact me as well. I gave an additional star for this. It still is not right that I have phone records of daily calls, sometimes multiple a day from this organization. Especially when I'm a former customer and would have possibly been a return customer had they not started this predatory lending behavior, and lack of respect when asked to be removed from the call list by two sales agents who continued to call. I too am a veteran who has had a pretty crappy experience with this company. They refinanced my home a year ago and failed to set up enough money in my escrow account. My mortgage has gone up $60 a month to account for this oversight. I have tried to contact them and explain my situation. Three voicemails and zero returned calls later I decided to write this review. DO NOT USE THEM! It is that simple. After the loan is closed there is no customer service. I just had horrible, horrible service with flagship financial. We were working with Jeremy Klein he would not return phone calls, when I called he would not get on the phone. I asked for a manager they told me no manager would be in the office for at least an hour to an hour and a half. They gave us such a runaround it was terrible. They are not the Company they claim to be. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Update 4/25/2014: Jen Pierce got on it and the escrow company apologized and sent me a check for the amount of the overage. Update 4/24/2014: I just found out that Flagship sent a payoff amount that was not enough to cover the payoff, resulting in depletion of the escrow account I was expecting to get refunded to me. Totally Unsat. Original review: I'm a veteran, did a streamline refi to a VA ARM through flagship. Everything went smoothly and they were very professional. The numbers worked out exactly how they projected. Their closing agent/notary was very accomodating and got it done fast. After the loan closed, Loan Assistant Jen Pierce was especially helpful assisting me with an issue that wasn't even Flagship's fault (both my old escrow company and the new company paid my property taxes) She went above and beyond the call of duty helping me make sure the old escrow company got their funds back so they would go to me. (versus against the principal of the loan had it been returned to Flagship as the lender's rules dictate) I'm not sure why the guy with the bad review is so bent out of shape about the escrow numbers being off. escrow numbers are only as good as the information you give them, and the tax and insurance numbers can change over time. The mortgage company just takes what the customer or the insurance people or the county assessor tell them and uses it. It's always an estimate until you're into the mortgage and real numbers happen. I've had my escrows reduced at one point because the taxes went down a bit. Would he give a 9 star review if that happened? Hardly reason for a bad review in my opinion. read more

im looking to refinance my VA loan and get away from my current lender, Wells Fargo, who i absolutely despise. When i called flagship i asked if i were to refinance w flagship if there was a chance of my loan being sold to wells fargo. The flagship representative stated he could not get an answer to my question unless i created a flagship profile for a loan officer to review. I dont want to waste my time providing all my personal information when I asked a simple straightforward question. Not sure why flagship wont answer upfront, but thats one reason I am leaving wells fargo and dont want to leave one deceptive lender only to end up right back w them. read more

I am tempted to title this "beggars can't be choosers" as, despite sterling credit, I only had a few refi options due to refinancing in the greater DC area which has home values depressed below most mortgage balances...in other words, many of us are underwater. I will say that there was one person there I could always count on for a pretty quick reply to my email queries...even if they were not always helpful. So, my criticism there was that they needed to read my question, get the numbers I wanted to see, and then reply. I did NOT want to hear that things were "fine"...show me the numbers. But again, at least I was not outright ignored. As an example (just the opposite of "Dave N")...I was actually arguing that they were taking too much for escrow. I was bothered at how long the whole process took and especially by the "unknown" funding piece at the very end. The company maintained they had no clue when it would happen. For someone trying to determine the timing of everything and so whether to make a final payment on my existing mortgage...it was very frustrating that they seemed to have no idea as to how the process (which they have done and do many times over) was going to work. And suddenly, it was funded... Once, things were set up...customer service turned very iffy. I got a form email about where to send my payment...and they did not even take the 15 seconds to customize it to me...it was literally you will either pay company X or company Y (they transferred the mortgage - which was prior disclosed and I'm fine with that) and I was expected to figure it out! Ultimately, I got payment info form the new company...but it was very disappointing that after a transaction that was a big deal to me, I no longer warranted 15 seconds from this company. Also, I got 4-5 pieces of junkmail pertaining to insurance and other offers relating to the new mortgage...before I even made my first payment! I can only conclude that this company (like most) have joint marketing agreements and so some portion of my data is essentially for sale. In conclusion, they were willing to work with me and my monthly payment is now much lower...albeit with some pain along the way. I would have a hard time recommending them but I gave them a second star because in the end (with some tenacity on my part) they got the job done. read more

I am a veteran who has refinanced with Flagship twice. Both times a good to great experience. However, with the rates continuing to fall, I decided to refi once again. This time the service was horrible and I believe they bait and switched my loan terms. I opened up a FTC and BBB complaint. They tried to keep the discounts points that were applied to get my rate down to the new proposed rate (a rate that their competitors charge no discount points and zero loan origination). It was probably more the loan specialist I was dealing with. My advice is be wary and never go with just once lender. When I presented the terms of the competitor the loan specialist said it wasn't worth his time to match it. On March 7th 2013, Flagship wanted me to pay them 18K in closing with zero lender rebate going towards closing on a 2.75 VA ARM. I found the same rate with only 2K closing costs after the lender rebate was applied to my closing costs. And zero discount and loan origination points. Those costs would of made sense on the 2.25 VA ARM they initially offered me. They told me they couldn't get 2.25 but could do 2.75 but the closing costs were the same. Baiting and switching is illegal when they change the terms on the loan and have no intention of offering what was first proposed. read more

We signed off our VA loan with a great rate. We are now asking some questions back and no one seems to have a very creditable response. What they estimated our loan payoff to be 4 months earlier is NOT what they paid off our previous balance on mortgage. No can respond to where that money went?????? Also were told we would not be paying mortgage for 2 months. That didn't happen either! We paid right up until we were switched to the new mortgage company. So where did that extra $5,000 or go???? Not back to us and not to the Pay off. So it REALLY cost us MORE to acquire the new rate!!!!!! We'd like some answers. So my thoughts Be AWARE and really look at pay off amounts......cause you could be paying more than you think you actually will be. Money can't just go poof - It's in someone's pocket. I would use caution with Flagship Financial. I considered refinancing for a lower interest rate. I had a choice of 1.75% variable. Not wise unless you're selling in a couple years, 2.75% and 3.25%. It came down to closing costs. $12,000, $8,000, and $7,000. Unless you plan on keeping the home for 30 years recouping these costs could take 8 to 15 years. An error on the document was pointed out by me and they advised I sign regardless and they would fix it later. The reason was because changing a document was a hassle. I let them be hassled. I chose 3.25% and while signing final documents with the notary I had a question. A $7,000 dollar one. I called them and no one was available to answer my question for the next 6 hours. I found I couldn't write anything less than a 5 star review on thier website, they are not BBB members, and there's a lot of confusion in the contract. I chose to keep my rate, 800 credit rating, and my money. I suggest Veterans use a Federal Credit Union for the best rates and costs. Navy Federal, USAA, something along those lines. read more

I couldn't be happier with Flagship Financial Group! They just got me approved for the BEST program for me and will be closing on my home this week! They had my best interest in mind the whole time and did what was BEST for me. They ran different programs in front of me and gave me time to research and see what was in my best interest. They were on top of everything and kept me in the loop the whole process. I was definitely not the ideal home buyer but they did ALL they could to help me out. Misrepresentation!!! I called after I received a letter about refinancing my VA loan with an IRRRL Loan. First, I was told there would be a soft inquiry just to check for BK's and Public Records, which I have none. After they did it, said I qualified and that I could only be disqualified if I paid my current mortgage over 30 days past due, which I have never done. So, I spent all the next day getting documents. Later in the day I was told that since I have paid late(not 30 days late), that the manager wants me to wait 90 days make next 3 payments they they will consider. So, I said no thanks. Then I learn that it wasn't a soft inquiry and shows on my credit report. read more

I received a letter advertizing the 1.75% ARM regardless of credit. I called an talked to Dave Johnson a loan officer. He was professional asked me several questions and notified me that I was preapproval. I have had my credit issues but I was very clear with Dave. I asked him if they can help me refinance my home and he said YES after getting all my information. I provided them with all the paperwork required but unfortunately after several days today Tenner Kemp called to tell me that the supervisor did not approved my loan. They completely wasted my time and got my hopes up. Very disappointed with this company. I have a couple of friends that served with me that are looking to purchase a home and one that is looking to refinance. I told them today to stay away from this company. I don't like the fact that I was told one thing and then something else happened. I will post this at the VFW so everyone can learn from my experience. read more

After claiming they would not let my information into third party hands, I'm now getting harrased by offers and adds. Clearly they have no intention of leaving poeple alone, dispite several phone calls to their office. What's worse is the emails contain a link to "unsubscribe," but it's not functional. read more

Please stay away from this company if you are trying to refinance. I had a classic bait and switch experience with this company very recently. Here is my experience, I have been shopping around to refinance my mortgage under the HARP 2.0 program. After weeks of shopping, I decided to go with this company (big mistake). They offered me a 4.25% rate with no points and I received the GFE and 1003 as per this rate. I was also told they usully close in 45 days. Guess what, three months later and after repeated follow ups pretty much on a daily basis the loan officer informs me they are ready to close and my new rates were 4.75% with 1.5 Discount points which is way more than other rates when I was shopping. The reason the rates are higher is apparenty because my loan was approved by only one lender and this is the best possible rate and I should take it. I was floored by this utter callous response from the loan officer. I feel that I was strung all along for three long months when they knew very well they cannot offer me the original rates. They spring this "pleasant" surprise very last minute and by then you feel you have no other choice after so much lost time and would accept the higher rate. I feel the loan officer should have kept me informed when they could not get me the original rates rather than spring this last minute. They are not able to get the rates they claim initially and follow thru's is bad, so I would not recommend this company to anyone!!! read more

This company is beyond horrible to work with. First, after accepting the stated percentage rate and agreeing to refinance with them it took 3 months to get to the paperwork. When I questioned them about the time frame they simply told me the mortgage market was overloaded right now and it would take some time to get the paperwork through. When I spoke with the reps they said there would be a 2 month lapse in mortgage payments while everything was processed. The closing paperwork showed a first payment due the month following the closing (closed April 2nd payment due May 1st). When I asked about it (over the phone of course) they said there would be a transition time while they get a lender to take the loan and not to worry about it. A lender funded the loan in early May and I started my payment to them on 1 June. The middle of June my loan was passed off to another lender so now my payments have to be made to them. Now they're saying I'm a month behind because I failed to make the May 1st payment! So now I'm expected to come up with an extra month payment. I will never work with this company again and I will put my experience out at every review site I can find! read more
