I had made an appointment here for a fill on my nails for engagement photos and my appointment was made for 4pm. I showed up on time and was hardly acknowledged and this was my first time at this salon. Then I was told a seat to sit in and waited for 30 minutes without anyone telling me how much longer until someone will start on my nails. I noticed other people were being talked to and say right away yet I still hadn't even had one person talk to me about my appointment. Tons of ladies from PHX think its great, but they go home. After 3 solid visits with lifting, bleeding cuticles and then yesterday .. John annihilated my feet. During my pedi, he cut my toenails in the corners too short, and ripped them off with his nails! He also put my disgusting callouses back into my pedi water. I am just disgusted. Deeply confused by the positive reviews, as this was BY FAR the worst experience of a nail salon in Flagstaff, and I have tried most of them now. I'm sure they are skating by on the positive reviews because the other customers looked tense and pained, and even most of the positive reviews don't show good quality. I had a gorgeous french dip manicure done in Palm Springs and made an appointment to get it removed and redone. I wanted to try this place, because it was new before covid and I was hopeful due to the reviews. First of all, 3 day wait for an appointment. Then they changed my appointment time. I arrived and a woman (Mary) asked who I was and then barked out a table number for me to sit at. A few minutes later she handed me the samples and I said I just wanted the french tips I had scheduled. She says "no french nails. Choose a color." Also confusing bc I overheard pedicure customers asking for french and ombre styles. While I am trying to find a substitute color, she picks up my hand and does about 4 rough seconds with the e-file before pushing my hands into a bowl of "water" and saying, "10 minutes". I can feel my fingers getting sticky and realize it isn't water, conditioner, or cuticle oil, but pure acetone she has my entire fingers in. No cotton balls, no attempt to think the polish with the file. Too lazy to take the time to use the e-file. If I wanted to soak my hands in industrial carcinogenic solvents, my husband has a bunch in the garage. Instead of 10 minutes, I am sitting there for nearly 20 with no one ever checking on me. All the polish has almost soaked off and definitely to the point 2 minutes with the e-file would be plenty. Again, she tried to shove my hands back in the bowl. I said, no, I don't want to soak them anymore because my skin and nails will split, and she turns away and dismissively barks out a different table number because she truly can't be bothered to be polite or conscientious. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, left $5 for them to refill their acetone jug and left. I will definitely be heading back to the Nail Cottage or Unique Salon for a quality, professional manicure. I feel truly sorry for anyone who thinks this is a quality salon. Other cons: *Repeatedly rude and dismissive to walk ins and phone customers inquiring about appointments. *No autoclave or sanitation on the hand tools. read more

Let me start by saying finding a decent nail salon since moving from the Valley 5 years ago has been one of my biggest challenges. I also had a nail technician license many years ago, so I have some knowledge on the subject. After spending a good month and a half babying my natural nails, I had finally grown them out (all but 2 that had recently broken) I scheduled my first appointment yesterday for a dip manicure. Upon my arrival I was asked to take a seat and they would be right with me. There were three other customers being assisted and seven employees (that I could see). One of those customers was at the drying station. I took a seat. Shortly thereafter, two additional women came in one with a scheduled appointment for a manicure and one walk-in for a pedicure. Both ladies were immediately seated. 15 minutes later, after I began pacing back and forth, I was finally seated. The young lady, who's name I never did get, asked me what I wanted. I explained I wanted a French dip square manicure. She mentioned the difference in length due to the two shorter nails. I told her I was ok with it for now and we would even them out with the next manicure. She nodded at me and went to work. Apparently she didn't understand the difference between square and round. She kept filing and filing and filing. When I said "They were supposed to be square" her reply was "Too short to be square". I simply said "They are now". (Nails are NEVER too short to be square). The most natural look for any nail follows the natural cuticle curve and mine just so happens to be square with a slight round at the edges. I wish I had taken a picture prior to me trying to repair them but I was to upset...... There was no pushing back of the cuticle. No cuticle removal. Some have a pretty decent space between the dip and the cuticle. It's a good thing they are French because most people won't be able to tell how uneven/bumpy they are. No lotion. No massage. NOTHING!!!!! Ohhhhh I did get a bit of cuticle oil and a "go wash now". There is NO WAY you could get away with charging $50 for such a service in the valley. Pride in the work you do and customer service is HUGE!!!!! I believe that everyone deserves a second chance and before I left I was very clear with the owner when I booked a second appointment for next month. I will scheduled for a $70 Flagstaff manicure with dip and a $90 Flagstaff pedicure with gel polish pedicure. I even left a 40% tip hoping that maybe next time this young lady sees me she will think if maybe I'm worth a little more effort. Will keep you posted 5/12/21 5:45pm. Today, while I was working, Mary, the owner of the salon, blew up my phone. 4 calls and one voicemail. I returned her call on my way home only to be rudely advised that because they "make customers happy" and "could not make me (you) happy" that they will be canceling my upcoming scheduled appointment. When I suggested maybe another technician instead, she said, "You have a license, you do them yourself". So not only was the one technician's customer service lacking this is the example by which she is lead. Instead of this becoming a situation in which the salon/business/technician/owner even myself could all become better because of, what have we all learned? The technician- she can do no wrong in her bosses eye, do half assed work and get paid the same if not more than if she had really put forth the effort Mary - you can over charge clients for poorly completed services, promote horrible customer service while still making money and BLAME THE CUSTOMER 's knowledge or willingness to call out an untruth as there reason for "not being happy" INSTEAD OF ADDRESSING THE SITUATION head on. Me- My opinion and/or happiness doesn't matter to the business they just want the $$$$ read more

This review should be a zero. Note that I have never written a Yelp reviews. My inclination is to support my local businesses, especially those that are women-owned. But I really think people need to know my unsettling experience at this establishment. Just had a really terrible time today during my second visit to this nail salon--this time with my elderly Mom. After cold water, I decided that we should just leave and politely asked the attendant for a clean towel, as the one initially provided was really dirty. The towel had black dirt and other spots in it. I politely asked for a clean towel to dry my mother feet so we could leave--a reasonable request, especially since my mom uses a cane and is somewhat unsteady on her feet The owner then intervened; became angry and, yelling at my mother and me, screamed that we should leave the salon. I told her that we were trying to leave but just needed a clean towel. I proceeded to go get a clean towel from a basket that I knew from my first visit was for customer use. The owner literally chased me, yelling tgat I wasn't allowed to use these towels. The reason I had returned to this nail salon in the first place is that the water was cold during my first visit a week ago. The owner told me to return another day. So, I made two advance appointments for manipedicures to make a mother-daughter day out of it. Instead the owner made it a nightmare. When I first arrived today for the second visit, the owner yelled at me, telling me they were unable to do manicures even though we had two prescheduled, concurrent appointments for manipedicures. To avoid disappointing my Mom, I tried to proceed with at least her pedicure; then there was the dirty towel debacle; then her public verbal abuse described above. Her yelling and unprofessionalism, which was very upsetting to my frail mother. We certainly won't be returning. But the major issue is the obviously dirty towels. I will be submitting a report to the appropriate health and cosmetology oversight bodies. In these COVID times, dirty towels are a public health hazard for both customers snd employees. Fortunately, I took several photos of the filthy towels given to us to include in my official complaint. Looking at the other reviews, this nail salon's services are uneven at best. This place is absolutely unprofessional. No sense of customer service. I was rough handled after stating i didn't like the shape of my nails. The guy proceeded to continue and ignore my complaint. Then he started yelling at me as if i was his dog. "You don't like them!" fine. Then he pushed my fingers and snipped off the acrylic and stormed off. Then the owner Mary took my raw fingers and nails and had them burning in acetone for over 15 minutes while she helped other customers. This place needs to be shut down. My daughter and I have used this salon several times. The work is mostly good. However, we have had two nail techs be quite rude to us. The gentleman who works there got very upset when my daughter told him that the nails were not straight and one hand's nails were longer than the other hand. Today one of the female techs threw a temper tantrum when I asked her to change how she was shaping my nails. She started yelling in Vietnamese and packed up her tools and walked away. I would have thought the owner who heard everything would have come right over to figure out what was happening. But she never said a word until I got up and went over a few minutes later to her to ask if they were going to have someone else finish my nails.
