I don't usually care much about customer service, but this experience was particularly harsh enough that I felt led to leave a review. My delivery window was 2:30-4:30pm. I had an unexpected emergency the day of and was going to be late with an ETA of 3:00pm to the delivery location. I felt terribly about being late and booked it to my new place as soon as I was able to at 2:30pm to try and get there before the delivery. At 2:40pm I got a call letting me know that they are here and asking where I was. I apologized profusely and said I was on my way, about 20 minutes out with an ETA 3:00pm. The man on the other end did not accept the apology (which is valid!) and called again about 10 minutes later asking "until how long am I supposed to wait for you." I apologized once again and gave my updated ETA of 9 minutes. When I arrived, I quickly parked and ran over to Viktor who was waiting at the end of the driveway. I apologized again, which he once again does not accept. I tried explaining the situation that I was in but quickly realized there was no point; he was pissed. We quickly unloaded the entire truck of forty 56lb bags in about 5 minutes. Viktor threw the bags at me, not being mindful of whether the bags were smashing my hands or if mulch was getting everywhere. My hands had cuts on them after he left. I take accountability that I was late, but the handling and interaction felt unprofessional and unpleasant. It made an already stressful day even worse. Frank's Building Materials and Villanueva Cabinetry Workshop where they make and stain basic pine kitchen and bathroom cabinets to order. Building supplies include typical 60 and 90 pound sacks of cement and concrete, sand and gravel by the scoop, cement board, rebar, cinder blocks, nails, screws, bolts, brooms, et cetera. They deliver to the local area, they've delivered big orders for me to projects in City Terrace, Monterey Park and Lincoln Heights. When I pick up materials in my car, or truck they always load everything for me. Their prices are similar to big retailers like Home Depot, but much more convenient service. They will run around the store and find whatever you need while you wait at the counter. Villanueva Hardware a mile west at 3516 E Cesar E Chavez Ave is a bit smaller. I believe they have three additional locations but I haven't visited those. Frank's Building Supplies might smell a bit like oregano, because fifty years ago the building was the home of a Mexican spice distributor. I shopped there even then!
