Cindi and her staff closely monitor each horse for soundness, wellness, and nutrition, and boarders are a friendly community looking out for the welfare of other boarders' horses. Horses are turned out daily except in severe weather. Cindi is knowledgeable, kind, patient, and actively involved in the welfare of each horse. I have boarded horses for over 40 years. The only downside is they don't get back to you quickly. My second lesson here, after a few days, they responded saying my lesson would be at 7:30 PM. When I got there, my name was not on the board and when I came to greet my trainer, he said he doesn't do lessons past 7:30. The stall and arena are heated in the winter and have good cross ventilation in the summer. The facility and grounds are meticulously maintained and the arenas are perfectly groomed. The hunt field is manicured for safety and is a blast to ride in in the summer! The owners live on site. I credit Shari with the help of Dr. Hanover and Dr. Henry for saving my horse's life 3 years ago. When he arrived he was on antibiotics for a condition that baffled a previous vet and trainer for about 8 months prior to moving to Long Grove. Shari called me and the vet at 9 pm on a Sunday when he appeared to have a "headache". She was right, he did. Ct scan showed a mass in his sinus. He would have died a slow death if I had not moved to Long Grove Farms -she pays attention to her horses and riders. I am the happiest I have ever been and don't worry about him being in his stall even on a rainy day if I don't make it out.

I've been lessoning with Rose who is great at pushing you, giving good, positive feedback, and matching you with a horse best for you. One of the main things you'll notice is that all the horses seem really happy. I've ridden 3 different lesson horses who all are ready to go and never seem overworked. You can tell the staff is all super familiar with each and every horse and the boarders and frequent lessoners. Very welcoming and a good place to build confidence and skills as a beginner. One only minor complaint is that it's such a well oiled machine with so much staff that I don't get a lot of experience with tacking, brushing, cleaning, or other horse care.
