Beautify is a secret I don't actually want to share, but for the benefit of the lovely business…read moreowner I will let the secret out :-) This is my fave salon because: (a) it's out of the way, where you will always get a free car park right out the front (most people don't know about Beautify because it's not inside the bustling Jamison Centre); (b) they do beauty AND HAIR in one place; (c) the prices are reasonable; (d) you get spoilt with gentle, personalised attention, no matter what you have done; (e) they use good-quality products; (f) because it's relatively new and unknown, it's not hard to get an appointment; (g) it's quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Need I say more?? Last week I had my long hair trimmed, after a beautician-standard head massage, and then blow-dried, for just over half of what fancy salons in Civic charge. No loud music. No pressure to colour it or buy products. Today I had a proper pedicure. I say "proper" because those nail salons in the mall do not provide a relaxing, individualised, or dignified experience. I also had my eyelashes "permed" (who knew?) and tinted, which will save me time in the mornings! Five stars from me. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

Piper Lash's new beauty salon just recently opened at Casey, ACT. I booked in for a…read more"Hydrodermabrasion Advanced" which was meant to include a massage and mask for $139. This was the first hydrodermabrasion facial I had ever had and I was asked by the beauty therapist whether i've had a facial before, I said "yes, but not hydrodermabrasion" to which she replied "okay". And continued the facial without telling me what it does, what she will be doing, what i can expect etc. She then asked "do you think your skins more oily or dry?", I said "oilier i guess?". She then moved on to applying products to my face without telling me what she was using or what the products were meant to do. Once she began the hydrodermabrasion part, she began the process without telling me what she was doing. The machine then stopped midway at one point which surprised her and there was a few times where it seemed as if she wasn't sure what she was doing (e.g playing around with suction, pushing the suction in different directions which made it seem like she was confused). And in terms of the massage and mask, she lightly moved some cream around my eyes for around 2 minutes then put a mask on and began washing tools up whilst I was still laying there trying to relax and get my money's worth out of it. But the worst part about the whole treatment was that 1 day later I have noticed 3 brown pigmentation spots that were not there prior to this treatment. Although the beauty therapist did not provide any after care advice, I wore sunscreen (spf 50) on my face as I knew that my skin would be more prone to sun damage. From the research i've done about these spots forming after the treatment, apparently it means the beauty therapist was too abrasive or the machine malfunctioned. Regardless, I am completely disappointed in this service considering I had heard so many good things about Piper Lashe's other salons. I will now have to see a dermatologist to get rid of these large dark spots left by this treatment. I would not bother risking it or wasting your money!!
